Exactly. It's fine how it is. They drew a very nice line in between and it's working.

I love a good hentai as much as the next person, but for something like YnS Story > Boobies.

Who said that hentais cannot have good stories? It is more "to the point" representation and less restriction on how to present the actual materials. With all the sex scenes right now, sometimes it feels as some of them are in disconnection with the actual plot...

p.s. I want to know the details

I won't deny that hentai can't necessarily have good stories, but I'm not sure I really follow your logic here. I mean, if you yourself already feel that the sex scenes are in disconnection with the plot, wouldn't expanding that will become even more disconnected? What's more, time is already limited as it is, and I just don't think you can fit in narratives or much dialogue in there. But seriously, I don't see how knowing more details can contribute to the plot as a whole, it makes a better argument if you want them removed in order for more plot exposition or whatever.

As others have said, the problem is that if the anime were any more explicit and transitioned into "ero-anime" territory, they wouldn't air it on TV, and so it likely wouldn't get even 12 episodes. Most ero-anime are created as short 2 or 4-episode OVA series only. The whole way they've structured this TV anime over the 12 episode run (love it or hate it) is basically what makes it work.

Plus, at least speaking for me personally, I've never once felt that this show was lacking for the ero-scenes being less detailed or complete. It gets the point across about what happened and is sensual, but I don't think it's supposed to do much more than that. If people really want longer and slightly more explicit sex scenes, they could always play the game. But even then, the ratio of story content to ero content still greatly favours story in the game. The main difference is that they have a lot more time to work with in the game.

The episode was good episode and past was pretty unexpected. And I like how Sora was shown this episode, it's clear she hasn't forgive Nao, and can't wait for her part.

P.S. I finally know I character who has the same birthday as me, but why did it have to be girl who raped Haru .

K, so I picked this up, and watched up to episode 5. Just some quick thoughts before I catch up.

-- Music is good, and whoa, that's like really good scenery porn.
-- Sora is cute, and I happen to like her hair. But she also seems insane and some of her behavior is creepy.
-- I like some of the anachronic telling of events; it improves the emotional impact
-- The humor is great, especially with the mosquito and the hose/swimming pool
-- The accidental innuendo ("make me come", etc) is making me laugh, and contributes to the comedy. Also lol@ Haruka's fantasies
-- Kazuha! Well, ojou-type characters are my favorite, so that's easy to melt me with.
-- Fanservice... too much of it and sometimes makes it harder to take seriously. As with most animated secks it tended to make me laugh more than anything else. Is it just me, or does sex in anime not get depicted at all, or very blatantly?
-- That shrine looks familiar. Last time I heard of a girl living in a shrine alone wearing a miko outfit in an anime it didn't turn out very well. Reset button soon?
-- Alternate ending? Omnibus? NOOOOOOOOOOO
-- Haruka's such a chick magnet, it's ridiculous even by these shows' standards. But at least, he goes with it unlike your avg protagonist who is afraid of girls. Plus him and Kazuha are depicted having tons of fun with each other. So it's not too bad. In fact, the depiction of this relationship is much better than your standard stuff.

Overall, I have no idea what to think as I don't get the point of this show. It's beautifully animated, but the writing consistently jumps from inspired and emotionally touching to softcore porno unintentional comedy and then back again. Pretty schizophrenic imo but I'll keep watching. It's something halfway decent in this dire (for me) season.

W00t! It's Nao's turn. I mean, Akira is technically osananajimi as well, but my bias towards Nao is so much stronger. Maybe because she's meganekko? Or because she's the only character who drives Sora insanely mad? Or because out of all the routes, it's hers that would seem to deal with the most drama in terms of love triangles and such?

Can't really put a finger to it, but I just glad we're here. XD

Not to insult any Nao's fans here but I just find her arc(so far) is the least interesting in the series, if compared to Kazuha's and Akira's arcs.

....wait there are Nao fans? @_@

Anyways what's this about alternate endings? Does that mean each arc basically resets the scenario and it's some kind of "what if Haruka did this" kinda set up as opposed to one melded storyline where he interacts with different characters depending on the arc? Or am I just really lost?

It resets at the end of a "route" like a VN would ie episodes 4 and 6 so far, and episodes flow in a weird manner, there have been posted about explaining that before, read thread a few pages back .

It's only just started...give it a little time.

I think the opening post needs to be edited to include a thorough explanation. *cough*relentlessflame*cough*

But I already did post the link to the explanation both in the opening post and again explicitly for this person. If people can't read/understand the explanation when it's explained multiple times, what more can be done...

I would add the explanation in the post itself. Humans are lazy and putting something like that right in front of them is best. I know, it's not hard to click a link but that's just how it is. People are so lazy the ideal business card design has all of the contact information in the same spot so the person doesn't have to look for it on the right, left or top, bottom of the card.

Okay, new preamble added to the opening post (and below for reference):

READ ME FIRST
  1. The Yosuga no Sora anime is told in a branching/"Omnibus" format. This means there are separate story arcs for each of the four main heroines (Kazuha, Akira, Nao, and Sora).

  2. Each story arc consists of some "common" or "shared" episodes and some "heroine-specific" episodes. After you complete one story arc, the plot "rewinds" (goes back in time) and takes a different alternate route branching off of an earlier episode. The dialog in the Episode Preview will explain how this works, so please pay attention (or see below).

  3. The structure of the episodes is outlined below (subject to change):

    TV Airing Structure
Episode 1: Common Episode 1 for all Paths
Episode 2: Akira and Kazuha Episode 2
    Episodes 3 & 4: Kazuha Episodes 3 & 4
    Episodes 5 & 6: Akira Episodes 3 & 4
Episode 7: Nao and Sora Episode 2
    Episode 8 & 9: Nao Episodes 3 & 4
    Episode 10-12: Sora Episodes 3-5

    Blu-Ray Arc Structure
    Kazuha (BD1): TV Episodes 1, 2, 3, 4
    Akira (BD2): TV Episodes 1, 2, 5, 6
    Nao (BD3): TV Episodes 1, 7, 8, 9
    Sora (BD4): TV Episodes 1, 7, 10, 11, 12

  4. There is an indicator on the episode title screen (right after the OP) that tells you what arc you are on. For example, "AK2" is Akira/Kazuha Episode 2, "K3" is Kazuha 3, and so on. So if you're not sure, just check the title screen.

  5. Motoka's story is told in the omake section after each episode. (The second ED in each episode is for this omake segment.)

  6. Please don't ask questions in the thread that are answered by this preamble. (Though you may ask clarification questions if the above isn't clear.)

Good luck at this point... I don't think you'll find it anywhere at anything resembling normal prices. You can get it on the Amazon.co.jp Marketplace for around 11,000 Yen, which is almost 3 times the original price. All the merchandise for this franchise has been pretty hot.

Indeed why were these so expensive in the first place? I remember other VFBs I brought (Sola etc) were only around 2.5k. Oh well love makes you do some crazy things >_>

Anyways while there are a coupla auctions for unopened (their words, hopefully it's true and the sellers seem trustworthy enough) ones starting from around 5k at yahoo auctions. Usually reluctant to go for those since they involve proxies and alot of convoluted fees but yeah at the least it probably won't end up topping 10k (for a book?.. Could buy a new VN with that kinda money.. -_- )

BTW you know what this CD VFB is? Seen some going for ~19k which states it's a CD. Presumably of a book. *is lost again*

Well, because it was actually two books: a 240-page book with all the color illustrations, and a second 216-page book with all the line art. The version I pre-ordered also included a bonus clearfile and a (reproduction) signed sketch of Kazuha. Worth every yen..

Well, why don't you post a link to an example of what you're talking about in the game thread. If it's game-related merchandise, it's probably better to discuss it over there.
