Anime Saimoe Tournament 2009 (Japan)

This thread has been opened specifically for the coverage of the Anime Saimoe Tournament 2009 organized by 2ch in Japan.

The Anime Saimoe Tournament is an annual festival of anime characters competing to be the most MOE.

The official Saimoe 2009 page is: http://saimoe2009.tonkotsu.jp/
At this time there is no English translation for this page, but if you want you can use google's translation (formatted for firefox): saimoe2009.tonkotsu.jp - English/

Once again, there is a Saimoe 2009 Wikispaces page. It should contain information that will be a valuable resource for voting in Saimoe.

The rules and principles of Saimoe are explained on the Wiki page.

The following are the rules for this particular thread. These have been in effect for the past 2 or 3 Saimoe Tournaments and are generally well known amongst the veterans.

Quote:
Animesuki Saimoe 2009 Thread Rules:

Absolutely no campaign posts allowed.

This includes posts containing ANY campaign verbiage whether in whole or in part. Contributing to the debate is encouraged, provided you do NOT add "VOTE ABCD!!!" (or similar to the post itself). Simply rebutting another's post or opinion with "XYZ sucks" is totally unacceptable.

To be clear:

* Please do not create a post with the sole purpose to campaign for a character!
* Do not add “VOTE FOR XYZ CHARACTER!!” anywhere in your post even if the intent isn't to purely campaign.

We want intelligent, decent and fun discussions about the weekly Rounds and the subsequent winners & losers.

* No Image campaigning.
Do not create a post with an image or collage representation of a campaign poster. In other words: a PhotoShopped image of the character you want people to vote for with “vote for” text added to it.

Posting Etiquette:

* Please do not cross post information about this tournament in other AnimeSuki threads except those which are related to moe tournaments.
Keep all Anime Saimoe Tournament posts, campaigns, character information, voting links, etc., within this thread only or in your signature (signature size limits still apply).

* No "meta-posting".
Meaning: posting about another poster, the thread or about another post itself, is forbidden and will be deleted on-the-spot, regardless of intention. If you want to comment about another poster that’s off-topic and/or personal, send them a PM.

* Any flame-baiting will be deleted and those people banned.
Please keep the thread positive, fun and clean. If your choice doesn’t win the Round and you can’t discuss the fact without complaining, swearing and baiting people into arguments, then don’t post.

* Do not create image only posts.
You can, however, include an image with your discussion. If you want to visually support the character you’re voting for then please do so in the context of your original discussion and use only one or two images. We would encourage the use of “thumbnails” if possible (and please, no large images).
Please use Spoiler tags if you wish to post a non-thumbnailed image
--PM the mods if you need help with posting thumbnail images or using any of the tags.

Thank you for creating this year's Anime Saimoe thread. Now I'm so busy that I still can't fully :read Anime Saimoe management threads in 2ch and may not be able to translate all the character's name. I will let you know something when I catch up on Anime Saimoe threads in 2ch.

Probably the only way we'll know for sure is when it starts and we see who can and who can't post, etc.

Hopefully they'll let up just a bit, but who knows.......

Because of the time difference, we have to start voting a half day ahead of the Japanese, right?
And sorry if I sound noobish, but what's Srsfkgbsns?

I just noticed that despite their popularity, none of Haruhi and the gang have ever hit even finals in Saimoe. Ironic.

Nice, and it starts again. I probably won't follow it as closely this year and only do recaps for each round since I'm busy with other stuff. However, this is going to be fun to see and try to guess results.

The thing about any moe tournament is it's not always about who is most popular, but a balance of popularity and not attracting hate/revenge votes, as much as I would like it not to be. I guess that's what makes it interesting (and results in winners like Rika).

Good times. Here's to another fun year.

that is because the only time they were in Saimoe, haurhi, Yuki and Mikuru were all in the same bracket.

Yuki was in the semi-final when she lost to desu. death to desu!!!!!!!

#1 Nagato Yuki - 294
#2 Ayikama Mio - 291
#3 Suzumiya Haruhi - 212
#3 Hirasawa Yui - 212
#5 Katsura Hinagiku - 188

#7 Alice (Pandora) - 98
#8 Alicia (valkrya) - 81

This year's SaiMoe would be one of the best SaiMoe ever since most of the powerhouse MOE from the past SaiMoe (2006 "Goddess",2007 "Pink Knight", and 2008 "Thigh Queen") are back with new contenders.

I hope all powerhouse are in separate brackets.

Unnn it would be nice if the chars on this pool does well in Saimoe, like a lot Alicia, Kuniko, Nagi, Yuki and Yui.

I would prefer if it has less powerhouses from the past... wanna give the newbies a better chance. XD
