I am in the process of "persuading" Live-eviL to pick up The Trapp Family Story. A series from Nippon Animation in 1991.

For the uninitiated it's based on the same story that the Sound Of Music was based on and so you'll be able to experience the joy and laughter of seeing Maria and Vonn Trapp children all over again.

Of course Maria sings in this version too so expect lot's of nice songs Cheesy

So far I have the first DVD(the official Bandai Visual ones not the bootlegs >_>)

This will be the first series that I'll be attempting translation on. The Japanese have full Japanese subtitles so it makes it easier for me as my listening skills are still not all that great.

Episode 1 is already translated by yours truly and waiting timing/editing/tl check. The OP/ED are well in to typesetting.

As I'm writing this I'm about 10 minutes in to translating Episode 2.

It's just a bit slow gowing transcribing the subs off the DVD so I can look up words in JWCPE but I'm getting there.

Well look forward to it =D

PS
I can assure you that this series will not suffer the same fate as 3,000 Leagues as I own the DVD's and I'm doing primary translation =D (big hint to a certain someone to get their ass in gear)
didn't another group subbed about 3 episodes of this before they dropped it. I downloaded the whole series raw a while back and I love the story. It is a wonderful love story and the end was awesome.

In English? Live-eviL is the only group to have subbed this show in English as far as anidb and animesuki are concerned unless a VHS group did it way back when....

I wanna plow on with this pretty sharpish but I guess I need to stop now to give everyone chance to breathe after my translation binge hehehehe. Hopefully the love story should kick in soon...

I used to watch this on the telly when I was still a kid in Japan! Quite a sweet funny series and I had a VHS of the 1 hour compressed, special version which I last watched around 2000.

If Julie Andrews dubbed Maria Von Trapp's voice, it would be perfect.

May the Hills be forever Alive With The Sound Of Music.

Thanks for subbing this L-E!

Due to my schedule at the time, I just watched some random episodes when it aired on the TV here. But now you bring the opportunity to watch it completely now.

I'm loving it, gambatte!

And another song ^^

It's based on Goethe's poem Heideröslein/Heidenröslein and even though it was translated from German to Japanese and then to Englisch the context is surprisingly still right ^^' Which means all the translators did a good job :-)

The version in this episode is based on the melody of Franz Schubert, 1815 (1797-1828)

There are many, many (it's said several hundred) other compositions that are based on this poem, the probably most popular based on a compostion of Heinrich Werner, 1829 (1800-1833)

Ciao

A puzzle for any German speakers / Austrians on the board.

Theres a song upcoming in ep 16 which in Japanese is called Yama no gochisou which literally translates as Mountain Feast. I've found one name - Holdilia Cook but that hasn't translated in to finding original German or English translations yet.

The second verse talks about Ice cream and a spoon. First person who can tell me the proper German name of the song and provide a link to either an German or English translation gets a special thanks credit when we release episode 16. The first verse also mentions Tyrol Mountain

Oh and we wanna get to ep 24 by Christmas as it's a Christmas episode but I won't spoil as it brought a tear to my eye when I first watched it ^^

http://www.hi-ho.ne.jp/momose/mu_tit...o_gochisou.htm <--- theres a link to the tune

Edit - Mystery solved at least partially

Seems it's a version of this song
http://gesangsrakete.tripod.com/cgi-...ters_Bruennele

Credits to DCxGandalf and HIX|TheBotKiller for helping to identify it

Just need to find the right version now.......'_'
(The first verse talks about tyrol / spring / song meeting

Oh dear, that's a fun/nonsense song ^^'

Only the first stanzas are usually the same, and for the rest it's up to the singers to create own verses that are somehow funny. There are only two points that are important: The text has to rhyme and it has to be somehow funny or nonsense ^^'''

Ciao

Not quite "already", after all it has been 4 years already. But still it's a good thing. The series are marvellous.
I'm still seeding the episodes by the way.

Oh yeah, You may be interested in checking this WMT club.

Great I still look forward to watching it in the future, just forcing myself to finish Peter Pan first.
