Ohana was so happy with her increase in pay from when she was in Tokyo, why do i feel like Nako got a lot more though.
Haven't liked Takako since the beginning, but she should start by changing things gradually and not going that drastic. Though i'm glad we got to see Nako like that, she was so pretty. Tohru looks like he's starting to like Ohana, Minko better watch out. Lol and Yuina suggesting to lengthen the slit. So Ohana is more like her mother than she realizes. Interesting way to cheer someone up. Beanman is definitely the best. I actually like the retro outfits, thought it was better than their current ones. Grandmother is getting better in my eyes. Like how she faked sick when Takako arrived. Also nice to see a smile on her face. Though i do wonder how they'll be able to turn the situation around.

What a charming episode. Starting of a little slow (but defiantly cute and funny), the episode quickly becomes quite emotional as Ohana struggles with the idea of economics and how this now affects her employment situation . I especially liked her reaction to getting paid. One of the few things I would critique about the episode is how little Ohana actually reacts to getting her first salary payment; for a show that emphasizes its main character learning about how to survive and work in the real world (and how this changes her and makes her a better person), more detail should have been given regarding her first pay check, considering it is something of a turning point in her life.
That being said, I also needed more Grey Heron... |

An incredibly enjoyable episode once again. This anime is definitely doing slice of life perfectly.
I too liked Ohana's reaction upon receiving her first salary. Even a small amount of money seems enormous when you've never worked before. The management consultant was a bitch, but she had a point nonetheless. If they want the inn's popularity to improve, they need to change something. Those risque costumes were a bad idea though. This would probably negatively affect the image of the inn if the waitress wore that kind of thing. It's just not that kind of establishement. The ones the Grandma made back in the day are far more suitable. It's a shame they want back to their old outfits after only a day. That said, I fully approve of the outfits Ohana first picked out: Nakochi I was totally wrong about this episode focusing on her, but I say she still totally stole it. How exactly did Ohana intend to make the slit of the dress even longer anyway...? It was already borderline. I didn't want to believe it, but it seems like Tohru really is starting to fall for Ohana. Minko has already picked up on it. Oh noes! the drama!

Great episode, hooked onto the show once again.
You know seeing as how similar Satsuki and Ohana are, I find it weird that Satsuki acts the way that she does. Also I love Ohana and Minchi's conversation at night., the love hate relationship is fantastic.

So Kissuiso is in trouble because the number of customers is declining. And what kind of solutions does the first half of the episode offer us?
Fanservice. Cosplay. Ohana thinking about more risque outfits and making the slit of the dresses longer. ("No SKIN, no WIN"?!) Does Ohana really think that the problem can be solved by showing more female skin without comprimising herself and the staff? I just find that her "logic" gets harder and harder to understand with every new episode. The second half, however, was very good. The music, the revelation of grandma's early efforts and Ohana's realization that their current situation cannot be resolved by a new outfit alone. And of course there were a couple of nice mini-scenes in between, such as Ohana's conversation with Minchi. But why is it that most episodes suck in the first half and then do a miraculous U-turn in the second half? And my worst fears have just come true. Tooru, why? 7/10 Last edited by tezu; 2011-05-08 at 12:41. |

I loved how Ohana kept going back to the slit of the dress. Really, this isn't to surprising, considering how easily she handled Jiromaru's perverted book. Personally, it’s even a little refreshing, considering so many younger female anime characters either ignore or outright reject their sexuality (both of which are fairly unhealthy). |

First part finished? A special ED and all... The song is as irritating to the ear as always though.
It was an okay episode. Some stupid cosplay and some stupid new character... I don't like the looks of the next episode though... Reminds me of that Yamakan-focused episode. That car chase one...
