it seems that the anime managed to make a profit by means other than DVD / Blu-ray:http://yaraon-blog.com/archives/119071

Loved this show.
All characters are lovable (even the weirdos), the humour is great, and it has a solid story. The bgm was brilliant throughout the series. Also, I really enjoyed the visual style of the show. It had retro feeling to it, but at the same time it didn't appear dated. My personal show of the year. |

As someone who used to watch and enjoy the first animated series I'm really glad they made this and giving to this series a proper conclusion.
The last episode was a very good mix of epicness and comedy. Never would I have thought that a Deus ex Machina would have been summoned for solving the hero's... internal problems...

This show was a masterpiece of anime. This thing must be a project of love from truly dedicated fans. The ending was heart warming and I recognized the song from seeing the original few years ago. ⎝ > ͜ʖ < ⎠
This series is one of a kind. It would be great if there was more but this level of animation is almost asking too much.
