THIS. This is what I like the most about this series. Both manga version and LN version are great IMO, I really like the cuteness shown in manga.
Summary, eh? will work on it right now!
The ART IS INDEED GREAT
The latest raw for chapter 31 the one with Leviathan and Bahamut. Its simply superb. lol on Rekka in mahou shoujo costume. It has time of cuteness but most time its just simply superb art. Its attain balance in it.
Yeah, already seen it, Ria is indeed awesome~
really loled at Mahou Shoujo Rekka, I would join Satsuki, Harissa, and Tetra, in laughing till my stomach hurts. Too bad the rest didn't see him in that costume, I would really love to see it~
Speaking of art, sometimes Harissa is depicted with green eyes rather than blue eyes, don't know why though.
Harissa eye color. Vol 1, 5 and 8. The only time I saw her in green is in vol 2 novel illustration. Not sure on the manga. Maybe its just one time coloring error.
Rekka and touma is quite similar in attitude i guess? And they could pat each others back regarding their mis?fortune with woman and the impending woman war....touma with magic and science side, and rekka with his whatever number his heroines will be
Touma's problem isn't the same as Rekka. heck you can't even compare the two. Touma's problem are mostly for laughs. The girls that in love with Touma truly can be count on one hand while the same can't be said for Rekka and let's not talk about different race/world/dimension and parents that are troublesome when they found out that their daughter likes a guy >_> which is why R comes back from the future to correct the inevitable girls war
Location: All ghillied up spying on someone ~2,000 yards away using telescope sights.
Age: 35
I was following only the manga... but then this thread made me realize that I'm only following an adaptation.
Browsing through the novel illustrations, wow, he seems to be doing all the rescuing like it's a freaking career. Every single job he does ends with the reward of at least(!!) one girl per accomplishment.
I might consider picking up from where I left off... that is, if I can remember... but thanks to guy who put that LN illustrations album up. Keep 'em coming so that I can stick here!

I like to run portable on my dude, so I ran while running runs in my portably portable, dude-like dude.
At this time, the progress of R [story] "to correct the messed-up future" is worsening.
Spoiler for reasons:
1. Rekka is ultimately dense, he keeps avoiding the girls advance yet he managed to pull them closer unsconciously. At this time, I won't be surprised if he answer: "I think of them as comrades"
2. Due to R interference, The future already shifted a bit. It is said before, that around 80% of girls are participating in [War of All], the rest decides to give-up and just watch. Now, it is possible that those 20% girls are currently participating in the said war.
3. Also due to R interference, More girls joined the "harem", adding the long-list of participant of War of All. Example of this are: Kibi Momone and Midori Tokiwa (Volume 6). Both of them are special because they don't have their own [Story] and therefore, are not "Heroine of [story]" but rather "Sub-Heroines insides other Heroine [Story]". In this case, they are characters of R [Story], given status of Heroine with the sole purpose of "adding possible candidates for Rekka".
Now that I think of it, who dares to kill Rekka now?? =_=a
Possible candidates? or possible war/problem for Rekka

New girl, weapon, experience, item or magic and you name it. Its crazy and always new to the setting which is why I love it.

i don't agree with this. There are a lot of girls in love with touma and that is not counting the clones!! Even the lv 4 girl "move point" seems to have some sort of relationship with touma. Personally i'd like some new chara devlopment for index since we don't see much about her.
Anyway does rekka learn to use Magic(as use it without items or girl's help) even if only one or two magics??

I'm talking about LOVE and not LIKE. There are difference for it and for Touma I can only count Mikoto, Itsuwa and Index. The other girls are added by fans for fans laugh and its not canon. I read the darn book and knew what I'm looking at. The clones like and respect Touma but not love him unlike the mentioned girls.
Go and say the same thing in the index thread and let someone who is serious talk it out of you and they will count the girls the really LOVE touma.
And this is not tamni thread to make a debate on who love/likes Touma.
Rekka's problem is different from Touma to the point that from the beginning there would be bad end of Rekka didn't decide on what to do.
I'm not sure if the magic he learns in each story remains but the item/weapons he manage to get stays with him. With high tech support from Iris. Hammer space or dimension space storage is nothing for him. He even warps which he uses as a cheat in some problem he gets into
Ask Nagi and I'm still waiting for the summary for each novel. The background story for the girls are given in the previews post.
Too bad, He really is an ordinary person (rather than Touma, he is more like Hamazura Shiage), so no, he doesn't learn anything for himself. I believe this is because his attachment to his ordinary life.

So the magic, armor and transformation he acquired was also lost in the end of the story?
But the material weapon was still with him right? the warper, gun(cannon) and sword. He really is Shiage, Badass normal.
well he got help from magicians, summoner, alien, dragon, vampire, assassin, homunculus, spirits, demons etc..
I also agree that it has great art. Its not the sexy type of art but still a nice art. It doesn't emphasize the sexiness of the character but the character itself. I like this type of art more than the one who emphasize ecchiness or moeness.
Yes, surprisingly enough for Harem there isn't much fanservice (more moe as you said really). Heck in the manga Eris is the one who gets most of it, and it's still pretty tame compared to what's out there.
Still it's not as if you need ecchi to have good art. More importantly later volumes conform that it still revolves around one of things that attracted me to this series, the multiple worlds. Stuff like really does well to keep a story dynamic and entertaining.

I'm not too familiar with Touma, but I don't think either are much like from what I have seen of both. Especially since Rekka who has no special ability or fighting skill and relies on his quick witts to get out jams. He's also pretty reluctant about the whole "family business" and would attempt to avoid it if he can. It's only recently that Rekka gradually started accept this new life and that's only because he thinks he has some control his fate. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Guess this is what happens when the others Heroes have bailed/gone missing/died/don't exist happened and comic unknowns to send replacement to do all the work. Too bad he dies end up supposedly dying for it too.

I didn't anyone other then Rekka R and "whoever sent R from the future" know about it.

There is a possibility that Rekka is the one who send R back in his timeline.
Spoiler for Summary of Volume 3 -Prologue & Chapter 1-:
The story start from the sudden visit of a girl who suddenly say, "Namidare Rekka. Marry with me (boku)". Bewildered, Rekka can only think about his impression of the girl boyish appearance (Shirt and leather jacket, cargo pants, fingerless gloves on her finger and long pouch on her waist) And her sudden proposal. She repeats her proposal again. R comments that Rekka should accept proposal as it is very beneficial to both of them, including R herself, to which Rekka retort (inside his mind) to shut up. Rekka then ask if both of them had meet before to which the girl replied today is their first meeting. Rekka didn't remember him being popular, and so, set aside the sad fact he ask again to why the girl want to marry him. The girl answer so they can change fate. Rekka become even more perplexed as to why the girl said some embarassing lines like that, He ask again if she means "that both of them had inseparable fate" and the girl asking back what he mean by that, adding another question if he is stupid. Rekka retort back that her words are like a confession. The girl then ask if he doesn't get her intention, and Rekka confirm it. The girl then said that she ask Rekka to be the Protagonist in her [Story]. Hearing that, Rekka quickly confirm if the girl, a Heroine or not by asking R and she answer it as a positive, Rekka then ask for her identity, she introduces herself as [Banjou Hibiki], a girl of [Banjou House], branch family of [Namidare House]. Hibiki further tells him that she is like Rekka, forced by similar constitution called [Banjou Lineage]. Hibiki said she come with the purpose of ending her cursed [Blood]. She ask again for the third time. For the time being, Rekka invites her to his house, to talk about the matter in detail.
In his house, Harissa fidgetingly (because of Hibiki sharp glance) served Hibiki tea, Rekka says his thanks to Harissa and send her to the second floor, Harissa followed Rekka instruction and left the living room. Hibiki ask who's that girl and Rekka answer that she is living in his house due to some circumstances. Hibiki ask again what is his relation with that girl, and Rekka said she might not believe it as it is unbelievable talk. Hibiki reassure him that she is also not normal like him. Rekka remembers about her bloodline, so he tells her the truth.
After that, Rekka continues by asking her purpose for coming to him, Hibiki answer she comes to marry him. Rekka answer back he is asking for her reason. Hibiki then ask what does Rekka now about her [Lineage], Rekka answer he know nothing. Hibiki explain in a simple terms that she is the female version of Rekka, and in her case, she is a [Heroine] in contrast to Rekka as [Protagonist / Hero]. Rekka comments that it must be hard for her, to which Hibiki retort to not mistake for her intention as she is not coming for sympathy from him but to end her cursed [Blood]. Rekka thinks that both He and Hibiki should not be able to change or end their role, and that's why he could not understand why Marrying will be able to do anything with it. Rekka then ask if she is coming to change her family registry. Hibiki ask again if he is dumb. She then tells him if they can make baby, then they will surely end the Lineage of both Namidare and Banjou. Rekka is surprised to hear about it, as the talk seemed to leap further. Hibiki continues that if both of them became pair, they can deal with the same [Story] at the same time. Hibiki gives this question: "What will happen if [Story A] occured in city where Rekka lives and [Story B] occured in city where Hibiki lives?". Rekka answers that He will involved in [Story A] while Hibiki will involved in [Story B]. Hibiki answer that might be the case and she adds both of them could be considered as magnet while [Story] is a lump of steel, She then ask again what will happen if both of them are together. Rekka answer that only [Story A] will be pulled. Hibiki confirm the answer and said that the [Story] will be reduced by if they are together. Rekka understand the gist of it although he is not convinced as they are still pulled by [Story]. Rekka seemed reluctant, and Hibiki ask if he has complaint with her. Rekka said he is not in the age of marrying yet and another reason is because he thinks marriage should be done with mutual feelings from both party. Hibiki sharply narrowed her eyes in silence. Rekka continues that He do understand Hibiki feelings of hating her [Lineage] however he think marriage is a bit too much for him, furthermore even if they are together, they will still be involved in [Story]. Hibiki said she doesn't care about that. Rekka is puzzled to that statement. If Hibiki have to married Rekka, a guy she doesn't even know or like just to reduce the number of [Story] involved, then there is no merit for her, as she still have to deal with [Story]. Hibiki then stated that both of their [Lineage] are hurting unrelated people around them. Rekka is taken aback by Hibiki answer and her gaze, Rekka ask again what does she mean by that and Hibiki only answer that it means as it is. Hibiki grasped both of her hand tightly and bite on her lips, a line of blood dripping down. Rekka then ask if something happened to her. Hibiki didn't answer right away.
(I'll skip this part, since I already explained it above on information about Kanae).
After finishing her story, Hibiki take a deep breath and stated, "Namidare Rekka. I'll tell you right away, the same thing could happen to your surroundings". Taken aback, Rekka started to get that [Namidare] and [Banjou] are the same coin with two sides. Rekka didn't want to believe it but Hibiki interrup him and says that both of them are not normal, their existence are a disaster. Hibiki concluded that they should not get into contact and involved unrelated people until they can find way to erase their [Lineage]. After thinking hard about it Rekka finally understand Hibiki intention, but the problem is with Rekka feeling. Both of them falls into silent. Just when Rekka is going to open his mouth, something suddenly broke into the living room through the windows.
A voice of a man declared he found what he had been searching for. Rekka quickly judged that they must have involved in [Story] already because both of them are together right now. The man who broke into Rekka house (Moustache guy with a monocle, white robe/coat, and flying in the air with a jetpack), introduces himself as the genius of Magic Scientist, [Cult Gravioa] while talking in a gentlemanly way, calling Rekka and Hibiki as [People of Parallel Dimension]. Rekka said that he would be grateful if he could enter from the front door. Cult answer he will try to do so next time. This makes Rekka think of him as a weird man. Rekka recalled that Cult called them [people of Parallel Dimension] so he assume Cult must be from Parallel Dimension just like Harissa. Rekka laments (inside his mind) why weird people always gather around him. grabbing his chair, Rekka then ask for Cult reason broking into his house. Cult answer because something he searching for is in this house. Rekka said to Cult his house is ordinary so there should be nothing that Cult was searching for in here. Cult confidently says that he is sure because the [Magic Crystal] tells him so. Cult then take out a crystal with the size of a volleyball from his robe. he also add that he was guided here by [Dowsing Pendulum], showing a pendulum with a jewel on his other hand. Cult then used the pendulum top show what he is searching for, and the tip of the pendulum point toward Hibiki. Before Cult can say anything, Rekka react first by throwing the chair he held in his hand. Cult just evade it easily. Despite it's size and design, the jetpack is quite fast. Rekka quickly search for the next thing he could use to throw. Hibiki moves fast while shortening range with just a one move, she jumps and sends a flying kick toward Cult, only to be evaded just a breadth of hair. Cult comments that it was unxpected that a girl like Hibiki could move like that, He then said that indeed he cannot captured the person shouldering [Enormous weight of Fate] with ordinary method. Rekka catched on to that one phrase. Hibiki answer she don't know if Cult is referring to her [Blood] but regarding her cursed fate, she is not without preparation. Hibiki pulled out something from a long pouch at her belt, which is an extendable baton. Rekka wonders why Hibiki could bring portable baton daily without being arrested. He also feels the transition of the situation makes him sticking out like a sore thumb in this place. Muttering that he requires to use "something" he prepared before hand,. Cult takes out a capsule from his robe. Declaring that it is the fusion of Magic and Science and called it [Instant Sorcery]with a loud voice, he throwed the capsule at Hibiki. When Hibiki going to hit at it, having a bad premonition, Rekka shouted at Hibiki to dodge it. Hibiki dodged it. The capsule rolled and hit the chair, suddenly it split in half and briar rose sprout from it, tangling the chair. Surprised, Rekka then realized that the Capsule is used to store a magic inside, He warns Hibiki about it. Cult commented that despite idiotic face, Rekka has good observing eye. Cult then explain that the Capsule he had thrown is stored with [Bind] magic, he also tells them that the next one he going to throw is stored with [Sleep] magic. Rekka is dumbfounded, he wonders whether Cult is actually an idiot despite intelligent demeanor, or he just want to sound cool. Either way, it was a big help for Rekka and Hibiki. Cult then tells him that while he may be a Magic Scientist, he is also a gentleman who would not thoughtlessly inflicted harm. Rekka retort that he should not have attacked them in the first place. Cult retorted back that it's a different talk and thrown the next capsule. However Cult throwed it too far. Rekka retreated to the Kitchen to evade the range effect of what might happen.
Just when Rekka is thinking a way to counter, suddenly the sliding door opened wide. Wearing a robe, and holding a staff, Harissa comes after hearing a noise from downstair. However when she just entered, the Capsule falls to her chest and split open, and with a bright light, the magic inside is released, affecting Harissa. Cult raised a flustered voice. Quickly thinking, Rekka who cannot perform the same feat as Hibiki, took a jar of Japanese pepper and hurl the content to Cult, which hit his eyes. Hibiki followed and using the low table as a foothold, she jumps and sends a straight punch towards Cult face. Cult falls facedown and after bouncing twice to outside, He declared that He will retreat for the time being. While standing on the solid earth, Cult turns the violet orb on his ring (in the left index finger) 90 degrees. Suddenly a light shoots out, and a [Red Door] appear from inside of it. After declaring villain cliche line, Cult entered the door and then disappear along with the [Red Door]. Hibiki muttered and deduced that must be a transportation type of Item.
Rekka then quickly checked on Harissa condition, He is glad that Harissa is alive and just sleeping. Hibiki then push Rekka aside and snatch Harissa, she proceed to spread Harissa cheek. Rekka protest but Hibiki says this is the only way for checking if she can be waked up or not. Hibiki slap twice and thrice Harissa cheek, however Harissa didn't show any sign of waking up. Disbelief turned to anger, Rekka scorned Cult for doing this to Harissa despite Cult previous remark about not hurting people thoughtlessly. Hibiki calmly justified it by saying that Cult practically didn't hurt her, Cult just want to catch Hibiki alive, therefore inflicting sleep for an eternity would be the most suitable method. Rekka still cannot accept it and while grinding his teeth, cursing. He feels his tooth is chipped a bit. He regretted why he didn't protect Harissa at that time and why Harissa have to suffer. Hibiki answers him, telling it's because both of them are there. Hibiki reassures Rekka that there is still chance to rescue Harissa, and together they can solved the [Story]. In desperation Rekka look up to R, but she just said that she doesn't know whether Harissa could be saved or not. R explains that the [Story] Rekka involved in is [Hibiki Story]. Harissa role is nothing more than just a minor role. Therefore the conclusion of Her [Story] doesn't include "Saving Harissa" as it's necessary objective, just like what happened with Hibiki confrontation against weapon smuggling organization. She adds she didn't said it was impossible. giving the example when Rekka solved [Harissa Story] by defeating the Demon King, automatically that world inhabitant are also saved, so it can be concluded that there still chance to save Harissa. Rekka feels as if R's tone are criticizing him. Hibiki then said that Rekka should have understand now, of how they can bring harm to others, and what a disaster their existence is. Hibiki words hit's him hard, Murmuring that his existence is dangerous, He then finally understand what Ria fear at that (Volume 2) time. Looking at Harissa who is sleeping like a baby in his arms, Rekka is confused as to what to do.
Suddenly a girl voice calling out to him. It was Ootomo Satsuki, Rekka's childhood friend who lived beside his household. Satsuki asked Rekka what had happened. Rekka didn't answer, he ponders whether he should ask Satsuki help or not, however Rekka hesitated, he fears Cult might attacked them soon. fearing for the worst, He then decided to keep silent. Seeing Rekka reaction, Satsuki pressing for an answer, but shifted her attention midway to Harissa who is sleeping soundly. Satsuki perceives that Harissa is falling under the magic of [Forced Sleep] to which Rekka confirm. Rekka ask if she can lift it, Satsuki answer she is not confident since it's an art of magic she never seen before, but it's possible if it is done with a strong Mana, Satsuki stated with her power she have 50:50 chances. After hearing that, Rekka shortly ask Satsuki to take care of Harissa. Satsuki ask Rekka what is he going to do, to which Rekka answer he will chase the person responsible for Harissa state right now together with Hibiki. Repeating unfamiliar name, Satsuki finally realized Hibiki existence for the first time there and look at her. Hibiki only look back at her in silence while standing at the corner of the room. Satsuki ask who she is, and Rekka answer she is His partner. With a shock, Satsuki murmurs what Rekka had said to her. Not long, Rekka quickly depart but Satsuki stopped him, saying She hasn't heard the situation yet, and seeing Rekka must be involved in something again, she want to help. At that time, Rekka feels a stabbing pain inside his heart. He thought if something were to happen to Satsuki, if He cannot heal Satsuki, and if he can't do nothing. He is filled with fear in his body, just like what Ria had felt at that time. In his mind, he wants to depends on the others, however there is no way he can do that, that's why.
He told Satsuki not to follow him. Satsuki only stupefied. Rekka use the excuse of having Satsuki to take care of Harissa, also saying it's enough if only He and Hibiki chase after Cult. Satsuki didn't back down, she asked why Rekka is saying that, but before she could tell what she thinks, Rekka overbearingly rejected Her, shouting not to follow Him. Satsuki just calls out his name in disbelief, She is surprised because it is the first time she had seen Him raising voice against her. Rekkan can only judge what kind of face he is making now by seeing Satsuki scared expression. Rekka then avert his eyes, and asking Satsuki not to follow him, both of them are enough and others following Him, would be a bother for Rekka. Turning His back on Satsuki, Rekka says later and stand side by side with Hibiki. Rekka decided to left now, since Cult could be back anytime to which Hibiki agreed. Just one time, when Rekka left, He looks back. In his eyes is Satsuki, holding Harissa in her arms, looking toward Rekka with a blank amazement in her eyes. Swallowing apology inside his mouth, Rekka left his house. With each step he walk, he feels his heart throbbing painfully. The pain didn't stop. R didn't said anything. Toward the road illuminated only by street lights, together with Hibiki they walk in silence. Leaving things behind, feels like swinging free from it.
I just can't... make a summary orz
I'm really sorry for the...wall of text
I'm starting from Vol 3 since Vol 2 is already covered in manga version, plus the info above should give a big picture of what is happening.

Sadly, Laser Gun and Warp Watch are never used anymore after vol 1. The Hero Sword is kept at his house for use later so that Harissa can go back to her world.
