Exclamation Help!! .. Another Wireless Network Problem!!

okay guys..

need help!!

okay let me explain all about it...i've got a U.S Robotics router... and a linksys PCI adapter...

well what happens is that when i connect to the internet it connects normally, however it disconnects from time to time and reconnects automatically ... which means disturbing my downloads..(i have tried alot of stuff such as re-installing the driver, restarting and mingling with it)

Help me...

(if i didn't provide too much information please tell me )

Seems your router can't take all the connections you are making with Bittorrent.
Solutions:
1. Lower the amount of connections allowed to be used by your client in its options.
2. Upgrade your router to something that can handle alot of connections. Dlink's 4300 wireless gaming router kicks butt. You can also get Linksys WRT54GL and change the firmware to a third party firmware (Its Open Scource Linux.)

Hmmm there should be a "device list" telling you which devices are connected.
I hope you at least have MAC Filtering.

Even if its not your router that is at fault its still good investment to buy this dlink ^^ you'll never regret it. Oh btw, regarding your Disconnecting, make sure its not caused by your DSL getting out of sync , that too makes you DC.

You know how to change settings on your router right?
192.168.0.1 is the usual number you type into your browser to access and modify the router.

This might help!

Well I cant say where it is... Try find something along those lines.
It doesnt have to read Device list, Connected Apparals maybe?
Just look through all the options.

Use MAC filtering basically you just type numbers/Letters (Ex: 03:4R:5T:6F) of the computers you want to connect.

If you need help finding your mac address check this out.
http://csg.trinhall.cam.ac.uk/tips/mac

As soon as you put MAC filtering your neighbor cant use your Router.

okay I used Mac filtering but when i typed in my physical address in the Mac Filter box it gave me a pop-up saying:

MAC Adress "00-0F-....etc." is invalid. Please use the following format "11:22:33:44:55"

okay i have tried searching for this type of format on the ipconfig/all but there is nothing in that format except the "00-0F...etc."

and how about the list am really interested in it... and does my router support it?

00-0F-etc = 00:0F:etc

It's a different notational divide.
