These are just girls who I'm really pulling for; there are still others who I want to see in like Index, Nagi, Illya & etc And my guess is that many of the Touhou voters will not be voting for anyone else and probably will not participate further in the prelims now that their girls are in. Such is the nature of "lulz voters" (those who don't believe that "moe is serious business")... hopefully my guess will be proven wrong

Please let me have a time of blissful ignorance before the despair begins!
I wonder about that... doesn't seems like there is many Negima fans voting. No a single character from Negima were nominated (even more Setsuna that have been dominating in Negima characters pools). |

I'm thinking the same thing. It will be interesting to see what the numbers look like in the next round. Now that the Touhou tsunami has passed we can look forward to some (hopefully) reasonable competition.

Well got to check the results. Late I know, but wow I'm starting off incredibly badly here. 2 rounds, 8 votes, all miss . As usual my alignment with the voters is very much off. Oh well might as well get into the spirit now so I'll be ready for the despair later .

Same here. That doesn't bother me so much, though. Really, it doesn't. I don't keep score of my "wins." My choices either make or they don't.
It's the domination of a single doujin OVA, which has basically nothing to do with the "popularity" of the girls in it, that I find so irritating. I'm kind of at odds with myself, though, because I admire and support independent creativity. I think it's a positive thing that the Touhou anime is recognized (and ISML may or may not be setting a precedent for the future of such things) but I think it would be more appropriate if the recognition/popularity of the characters in such a work was because of the work and not just it's pre-existence in whatever form it has been.

No, not really. I had seen the entire series and had taken my impressions of the characters from that.... as had many others. Nagisa was/is a top ten girl for me, and Kotomi is pretty high as well.

Though is really irks me that voters have such short term memory. A few yrs ago it would have been Kanon dominating...And as time passes, Clannad will be replaced with a equally, if not more terrifying force, while they're reduced to middle or even low-tier contestants..

If anything, I did feel some annoyance over the notion that Clannad popularity was high simply because of it being the latest KyoAni, and KyoAni was all that some people cared about.
I'm one who spent 60 or 70 hours watching anime I'd never otherwise bother with last year, just to give the girls in the contest a chance to make their impressions on me. So, I guess I take offense at the idea that a single series is dominating because of stubborn, single-minded fans who don't take the time to care about anything else. There's no real justification on my part for feeling that way, it's just something that comes as part of the passion of it all.

My initial reaction to today's result:
"Well that didn't take too long" And I mean that as in turning every non-touhou voters against us, I knew it was coming but didn't expect it to be all accomplished on the second round of preliminary. I'll be enjoying your hate rants etc from now on. |
