I am, however, curious in the horror aspect (which doesn't seem to be showing in the reviews ...).
I find that people can get highly critical when it comes to mystery-ish stories.

Probably because the line of thoughts goes like; Mystery = Intelligent = Good Story.

Also, I find that there are two types of "I don't care" characters- Either its "I don't care, whatever happens, happens." which is cool, or its "I don't care, leave me out of this." which is not so cool.

I hate Raymond Chandler, but he was right when he said that mystery is the only genre actually worth reading.

I can't say if there is any horror aspect to this specific title, only that a few of his other series have horror elements. This one is listed as everyday mysteries, which would seem to not be horror, but I have no way to confirm this at this time. There is a mystery of sorts that dates back I guess 33 years in story, something about an uncle. But I suppose we will have to wait and see. The novel will be over ten years old when it gets animated.

So yeah...if the manga will have "moe" character designs, no doubt the anime character designs will be just as "moe" or more so.

Edit: This is very likely close to Kyoto Animation's character designs, since the manga is said to follow Nishiya's(Nichijou's character designer) designs. Despite being a news that announces the manga, I dont know if the above image is actually of the manga or the anime.

Just a lot more so than the original novel cover, I guess. I think back then(when the anime was first announced) some people thought Kyoani were going to use those.

Let burn KyoAni's office if the actual anime design is closer to K-ON/Clannad than at least those design from manga. [/littlejoking]

I quite like those designs in that pic. I can only hope that's what the anime will be going for.

That key visual looks great(yay for Haruhi level quality). FMP's author is writing, and Kohei Tanaka is very experienced. I am officially hyped.

It was also their worst in terms of sales. I like FMP, I really do. I consider it the best work that KyoAni has ever done, but I also acknowledge that they have no financial reason to make another season.

That said... the author of FMP seems to be married to KyoAni or something. :P This is not the first time he has written for KyoAni, having penned/storyboarded several episodes for them in Haruhi, K-On, Nichijou, etc... but I believe this will be the first time he is doing an entire series for them.

Will be interesting... since there has been little indicators that this will contain action, although... the guy does rock in writing thrillers and suspense-filled moments.

10:1 odds we'll get to see the lambda driver effect in this series anyone?

Cheers.

Those character designs look oddly similar to Denpa Onna's.

Interesting premise btw.

Yeah first thing that came to my mind, looks surprisingly similar to Buriki's designs, and especially Denpa Onna, even the uniforms look very similar.
