Uh, yes. I'd like to ask you the same thing. Did you watch them? Because season 2 was like 95% plot. Plot which directly feeds into further plot, which leads directly to the Greece arc. On the other hand, season 1 had about 50% of the episodes as anime original slapstick shenanigans.

You're definitely remembering things wrong; Hina's birthday, Sakuya's birthday, valentines day, the hotspring arc etc... All of them vital character development stories.
If anything S2 had less random oneshots.

Exactly. Though for all you know, Hayate and Ruka could have a one-night stand and then agree to keep it secret/pretend it never happened. This in turn makes Ruka batty enough to perform would-be/mock profound monologues for an audience only she can see.

Ruka is great. Not many girls would keep pressing after already being rejected. Hell, not many even confess as soon as she does.
If only half the girls in other animanga were as proactive as her, more romances might be a little more interesting. |
