What is with Atlus and their fear of letting foreign audience listen to the JP voice, honestly.

Does the JP version have English text?

It's probably some stupid reason like "protecting the japanese market" or some crap like that (the same thing they did with Persona 4 Arena). I would have preferred region lock instead of crippling 7 wonderful in game narrators.

The Eng Text is in the JP version, but it's not selectable. Meaning that you have to get it with a save editor.... Personally, I'm holding out for the European version, NIS has way better track than Atlus when it comes to Audio conversion.

Also, checking the Asia PSN store makes it clear that they don't have future plans on adding the missing voices as DLC..... All the more terrible after hearing the extraordinary GM performance of Amai Asami in game. I'm suspecting that Inoue & Unsho are equally wonderful. Yasumoto is probably going to be amazing as well, his in game performance is great.

Well, duh. I guess I'll hold off the purchase for now. Content locking is one of the stupidest thing that I won't tolerate.

I'd rather assume that Atlus is just being cheap and doesn't want to pay to license dual audio.

Media Create Analysis:

Numbers have been posted (104k/71k for PS3/VITA), but another thing is percentage of it being sold (consumption rate). PS3 rate was 94.73%, VITA at 83.38%, which was higher than store expectations. Also explains why some stores has sold out within days of launch.

The PS3:VITA unit ratio is about 3:2, which has been the highest for any PS3/VITA titles that were released together. Vanillaware, being a company mainly supported by core gamers, had recent releases of Grand Knights History (first week 65k), and Odin Sphere (first week 59k), and Dragon's crown first week release is much higher than those two. Contributing factors includes releasing multiple trailers, demo events, direct marketing towards target users, and appealing to both core fans and people who showed interest.

The first week for all VW titels (Famitsu).

[SAT] Princess Crown - 27,600
[PSP] Princess Crown - 11,816
[PS2] GrimGrimoire - 14,865
[PS2] Odin Sphere - 60,820
[DS] Kumatanchi - 3,500
[Wii] Muramasa: The Demon Blade - 23,900
[PSP] Grand Knights History - 63,672
[PSV] Muramasa Rebirth - 39,248

Famitsu:

[PS3] Dragon's Crown - 109,031
[PSV] Dragon's Crown - 75,506

MC:

[PS3] Dragon's Crown - 104.359
[PSV] Dragon's Crown - 71.083

The Vita version alone had a bigger first week than any other title. If you add the PS3 version, digital sales and factor in the rather high price for this game (¥8.190) DC was quite the success for VW.

On a side note with 100K for Muramasa Rebirth and 75k first week for DC it seems like VW has quite a big fanbase on the Vita.

The reason is that the Japanese price is ¥8.190 while the NA price is $39.99. The release dates are only a couple of weeks apart so the discrepancy could have cannabalized Japanese sales. The situation sucks, but I'm sure that all Atlus fans are used to it by now. On the plus side, Atlus has released almost all of their games in North America (there's no plus side for European fans ).

These are pretty impressive numbers. I believe this game is actually doing better than Mario and Luigi. If Vanillaware had had a history of making sequels, they'd be cuing up Dragon's Crown 2 as we speak.

Dragon's Crown shipment is over 300k including digital sales. The initial shipment was around 200K and was almost sold out. So yeah game is grand success for VW.

Also if the game manages to reach the 300k sales or more it will also be one of the more successful titles for Atlus. Bigger than SMT and on the level of Persona.

Cater to both side of the fanbase? I don't really see what's wrong, though.

To be fair.

Seriously, I respect them for doing it not for gender equality, but because nipple poking is inherently silly and as such, is funnier if done to everyone.

If I try to poke a man's nipples and get no response, I would consider that a failing on the game developer's part.

Don't confuse me with "Why? this is so stupid and disgusting"

more like ... ah damn can't find the family guy clip. I'm not in any way disgusted or hate this little add on. it's just silly :P
