I would have liked if they made it like Amagami where each heroine has her own episodes.

Aside from Yosuga no Sora I think it's a very uncommon format that also has it's own flaws, like even more rushed stories. But then again I am more a person who enjoys the road getting there more than the destination.

Well... I'll give this to Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate...

When it Jumps the Shark, it doesn't hold anything back! Even Fonzie himself would blush over the incredible jumping of the shark done in this episode.

Honestly, the unintentional comedy and self-parody on display here was just off the charts. I honestly don't know where to begin.

So... this school is apparently a multi-billion dollar industry. Yet it struggles to afford a few school clubs. And it's Public Safety Commission is insanely corrupt and powerful. I think I know who runs this school from behind the scenes. Superfriends Lex Luthor.

Unfortunately, Lex has a grudge against the Food Club due to how one of its members is kryptonian. That's why he once stole 40 cakes from the Food Club. That's as many as 4 tens. And that's terrible.

The kryptonian member of the Food Club? Why, Chisato of course. How else do you explain her completely out-running an elevator?

Unfortunately for Chisato, though, the PSC has been outfitted with kryptonite-laced and magic-powered tazors, taking advantage of two of her weaknesses.

Meanwhile we have Michiru, the daughter of Solid Snake. Michiru is what was conceived when Solid Snake had a fling with Yuki Nagato during a mission in Japan a few years back. That's also why Michiru's harmonica has miraculous healing powers - It's powered directly by the DITE.

Oojima has a natural love for aliens. Hence his bizarre affection for the kryptonian Chisato, and him risking his very life for the daughter of Yuki Nagato (in all seriousness, I admit Oojima was very cool when he stood up to the PSC).

Oh, and Yakumo Mouri is actually the son of Rinne no Lagrange's Moid.

And you know what's funny? All of what I wrote made just as much sense as Episode 11 of this anime did.

And you know what's sad? Instead of actually letting us fully watch and listen in on that epic three-way debate (in which Oojima apparently outdebates both Satsuki and Lex Luthor's son in disguise), we're treated to some of the least believable romance developments of all-time and fantastical eroge moments that would make Key blush.

Oh, Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate, you could have been something great, but you just had to jump the shark.

Ah well, if nothing else, this anime has certainly become memorable for me. Just not for the right reasons...

I can understand your reasoning on why the production team did what they did to spread everything around. However, it does not mean that the story ended up well in actual practice in making the anime.

I have enjoyed the series, for the most part, over many other series this season. However, the way this newest episode was executed was utterly bad. Everything was rushed, crammed, and forced down our throats. Nothing really flowed naturally in this episode, and it is a shame. The build-up in the previous episodes were really good, too. However, everything feels like it is crashing down this episode, and I don't really know how they will end things or actually, don't really care as much either.

The resolution to Chisato's problems felt "cheap", and Yuuki's realization that he has suppressed feelings for her felt forced, consider what has happened throughout the whole series. There wasn't some gradual realization over events that built up a good relationship. It just went, bang, I realized it, ok, let's go all out and date like we're intimate for 3 years already. Also, Chisato's personality was even more aggrevating this episode, considering how she did not give a damn for anyone else besides herself. The forced event with Mifuyu was a little awkward as well. All in all, the anime production team did not do well in building Chisato in a satisfactory way.

As for the other girls, they were just thrown to the side, as if the events with them never existed. It is as amoirsp said. It really felt forced.

Also, with Kana awakened, I'm surprised that they did not counterattack the Katahira Faction right away. They went about as if everything is normal, and then you have the sudden "illegal" kidnapping.

All in all, this episode was quite the trainwreck. I'm not sure how sales will go in Japan, but from the reaction of our small sample here, it will probably not be too good outside of Japan, at least.

People didnt saw it coming, because they dont wanted to see it. Pathethic...

Its funny to see that rage from Satsuki shippers when few of them comment even before watching last episode and base their opinion on spoilers...

What I find hilarious is that whilst this was an utter unbelievable trainwreck, I still managed to find myself engrossed in it from start to finish. I don't really know what to make of that...

What a terribad episode. I wouldn't say this show jumped the shark though since I never thought it was that good to begin with .

Every scene with Chisato is just a walking melodrama, just so unlikable. Her past about Daiki just isn't that interesting.

But yeah uhm... This whole subplot about underground political officers spying on clubs and what not... YEAH well this story has already been a bit over the top about election material so it pretty much fits. I have no complaints there.

I do however have a complaint when the story does shit like that harmonica scene. Just such cheese. How disgustingly trite.

That ending scene though... ARE YOU KIDDING ME? They really are going this route in such a hamfisted manner?

1/10 for this episode. Would be an instant drop if there wasn't just 1 episode left.

It's not just the shipping here either.

The events of change were so drastic that it was forced in a way that made every episode that came before this irrelevant. The speedy realization of Yuuki's "feelings" to Chisato's recovery is just too quick and lacked the time to develop or even marinate into anything concrete and reasonable.

You can say there are hints here and there about them, but only in this episode there is a tiny shred of development and then an epiphany appears before the main lead. Okay, same old song.

There was absolutely no romantic chemistry between them this whole time only for it to develop so quick even after that previous incident of her traumatic behavior.

I don't think I've ever seen a forced pairing this bad in an anime before. The execution for the hook up was terribad and the ridiculousness of the behind the scenes situation with the public safety crew was hilarious.

If this was a 2 cour series then I can understand, but it was too damn clean, convenient, and embarrassing to watch due to them overdoing everything.

Do they really have to do that whole wedding pic deal too? Oh look, there's two people here, why don't you guys help model these clothes for us inside this chapel. lol

Super convenient and uber chessy! Sad thing is, it's probably in her route too.

And don't get me started with that little crappy moment where Chisato shows Yuuki that she can eat chocolate like a good little girl. I guess, it's all "sugar and rainbows" now. If only she choked on that bar this series would have been salvaged from this train wreck.

Yuuki's only chance to freedom is now gone since his trusty jet pack was apparently clogged with Daiki's chocolate and his own bitter tears of regret. I'll have a drink for you, my friend. Enjoy that ball and chain. That is all.

Now let the hate commence! We'll start the countdown at...3...2...1...

Forced route? Omg its not stupid game where gamer have to choose what story he want to hear... There was a lot of hints whats real feelings Yuuki are- from begining to end... I really not demand a lot from all of you but last episode was created in a way that even monkey will understand everything...

Its funny that if only creators would change ending to Satsuki in this last two episodes everything- recorvering from coma, Chisato resolving her problem, student council election, kidnapping- noone of you would have any problem with any of that... Try to put off your shipper rage for few moments and see whats story creators wanted to show us there... Last episode explained everything in really simple way...

About coma and harmonica... There are a lot of stories about miracle recorvering from coma on internet... I suggest to read some of them, really touching and unbelievable stories...

It's not about Satsuki or Isara or Chifuyu. It about the story and development of the characters. The delivery is too sudden. Hints? Yes, there are hints, but it should be formed properly, not "Look, I'm eating chocolate~ OMG! Let's hook up!!!!" Get out here with that garbage. lol

Anyways, time to jettison this koi to senkyo board and move on to somewhere else. (*Wipes hands*)

playmaker2k hate? It seems that this kind of anime is too hard to understand for you if you even failed to saw chemistry between that two characters or their development through series...
I don't have any bias towards Chisato (i couldn't care who won) , but I also think that everything felt forced and rushed in the last 2 episodes.
The climax to the chocolate resolution was weak despite all the drama and build up to it.
The election was put in the background in this episode, eventhough the first 9 or 10 episodes primarily focused on it.

As for your socalled hints towards Chisato, there were not that many that hinted romance (atleast less in the game) and Yuuki actually realized his true feelings for her in this episode. Before this episode( like Mouri has said) "Daiki"" was holding him back to love Chisato.

Well, just to be extremely clear, there's a rather massive difference in the way the two series were executed.

Spoiler for Comparison to Mashiro-iro Symphony:

I don't think it's necessarily a case of shippers "raging" just because of the chosen heroine, or even that they didn't see it coming (it was increasingly clear over the last few weeks). But I think you are making a comment based purely on the romantic outcome without giving much consideration for all the rest of the elements of the plot that built-up to this point (and what followed thereafter). In fact, even Yuuki's rather sudden romantic realization (that was still foreshadowed) is almost undermined by the rapid shift in focus, so even when he finally figures out who he loves, he can't have it.

I do think that some of the comments about "jumping the shark" and so on are overplaying it in my opinion (as this episode otherwise goes a long way towards answering some of the questions people had been asking for a long time, and all the elements here were foreshadowed and properly established), but the romance aspect of the plot is the one area in particular where I can't be totally satisfied, not because of "who won" (I liked Chisato's route in the source material), but because Yuuki's realization (and the whole turn) just lacks. I can't even find it romantic. I really think him realizing his feelings should be a much bigger deal than they made it out to be, and them using a super-convenient fake wedding photo shoot as the means to make the connection to the flashback is just... well, super-convenient. There's nothing about the final turn that feels natural, unlike a lot of what led up to it. And I do find that unfortunate.

(Edit: Just wanted to add, I do think the scene earlier in the episode, where the President explains to Yuuki why he couldn't commit to Satsuki, was actually really good. I only wish we had seen that a little bit more clearly earlier! You can see upon reflection that what the president said makes perfect sense, but they didn't really expose Yuuki's thought process at all. That was a critical element that helped keep people guessing, but at the same time it hurt the believability of the turn here.)

Hmmm...

First of all, I want to thank Mori for opening Yuuki's eyes and making him realized his inner feelings for Chisato. I knew he just wanted Chisato see him a Yuuki so he can be sure that Chisato really loves him.

Second, for Mifuyu for making Chisato realize her mistake and see Yuuki as Yuuki and not Daiki and somehow get out of that "state".

And last Michiru for... uhmm.. reviving Kana from coma, bleh...

Anyway.. yeah, a very dramatic episode.. a lot of revelations and reconciliations. God never knew that the election was that too damn serious matter even at school?!

Again, ants began feeding on my computer again due to the second half the series... A pretend wedding and Yuuki's realization he really did loved Chisato even since they were young...

But... its not all good... Why the hell was the kissing scene interrupted!!! Damn!!!

5/10 because of the failed kiss...

The weakness to that scene was that it should have been made obvious to viewer by Yuuki himself in some kind of way (like more inner thoughts or something else), not by Mouri (essentially a 3rd party in this case who wasn't even directly involved in this) who could read Yuuki like an open book.

Actually i am not even sure what to think of that scene. It makes Mouri much more imposing seeing how good his intelligence network is, but on the other hand it's as the writer thought: "let's add this scene to make the whole drama about Chisato and Yuuki more believable by explaining Yuuki's inner thoughts and feelings."

I agree with you... It would have been better if they made the transition earlier than the last 2-3... I was really getting depress how they brutalized Chisato's character and suddenly lift her up above the other girls.... but I'm still glad of what is happening.....except for the kissing part..

Main problem I have with the relationship is that its development occurred from stuff that's completely extraneous to what we've been shown. We're simply told about Ooshima and Chisato's long history instead of actually being shown within the main storyline itself. I also don't see how their relationship is even relevant to the premise of the show regarding elections.

This is starting to remind me about the ending of Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka, only this time, the one I support, Michiru, didn't even come close.

You probably should be aware by now that the writer loves dramatic cliffhangers at the end of every episode.

Yup, exactly. And actually, the president's very comment was foreshadowed way back in episode 2 (in that scene I mentioned a few weeks ago), where Yuuki talked about "finding his own love".

I guess, though it's a bit tacky, I can quote myself:
Quote:
Originally Posted by relentlessflame View Post
My interpretation (at least right now) is that the entire anime is Yuuki living his proverbial dream where he's constantly meeting "wonderful people" (potential love interests), because even though love is right next to him, he feels he can't reach it (the barrier between him and Chisato). So, he decided that he needs to look for a "better love". The big question is: did he find it in Satsuki or not? And if so, is he going to choose "that dream", or is he going to instead try to reach for that "tough reality" after all? [...] Everything basically hinges on whether he falls more in love with one of the other girls he meets than the love he's always had for Chisato, and so is willing to give that first love up.
This episode answered this very clearly, and why (in short: he could never give up his first love, so couldn't commit to either Hazuki or Satsuki), but you're right: rather than coming from Yuuki (through inner thoughts or realizations), it comes from the all-seeing President. And that takes a bit of the impact out of it, because the only inner thought left for Yuuki is that he's known what love is but just couldn't admit it.

Again, from a big picture overall-narrative perspective, the romantic development in this show makes perfect sense and is quite symmetrical. But the road has been, let's say, a bit bumpy.

Edit:

Well, yeah, as I said before, they probably chose this writer because of his specific experience writing drama. And this story has certainly had drama...
