Eating a whole cake would force Kobeni to exercise *gives her more cake next day* Repeat, rinse and enjoy results <--- I am deviant, I know, people run to the hills when they peek inside my mind ^^;

I have not read the manga, but the little manga at the end foreshadows that Mashiro and family are the aliens, which make sense, if I got stranded in an alien planet I would live afar from the barbarians which might want to burn me alive just because I look diferent. But of course after a few hundread years Japan has advanced enough to let Mashiro and Hakuya go into the big city. So just the same as they don't want to tell Kobeni something that troubles her, maybe the Mashiro and Hakuya are not really aware that they are aliens (but they were told to never go far from the house because there are "monsters" outside).

or this might be like Kimagure Orange Road, where the alien thing was supposed to be a great deal but it never really entered the main plot.

Benio really reminds me of Ayame from Fruits Basket... she's easily my favorite character out of the group.
Episode two continues to deliver, it's a funny show and all the characters (with that one notable exception) and their interactions are fun to watch, so it's definitely a keeper.

I had the same thought. It also goes with the title. "Engaged to the Unidentified."

Might help explain how Mashiro got into highschool despite obviously not belonging there, and why nobody is questioning it (mind control...).

Or it could just be a red-herring.

I supposed you're refering to the male lead as the notable exception right? Seriously, I don't really understand the reason behind people disliking Hakuya. Given most people seem to written him off as some bland and boring guy and that's it. I don't believe that for a sec. All this lack of presence and kindhearted is just an exterior. He definitely has more than he lets out. He's the guy with a mysterious past, and that's why he's so interesting. I believe there must be some legitimate reason behind why he is so devoted to Kobeni NOT just because he was raised to become her fiance. Yeah he lacks presence, but that's what makes it harder for us audience to figure his real intentions. He definitely hide something, and understanding what and why he's hiding it will be the key in developing his character. People just have to be more patient.

Sure he may prove to be important but I guess it doesn't change that he's a dull character in comparison to his sister. That makes it even harder to identify or like him. I personally don't mind him but I suppose the first impression is really important, that's why in every anime you see all the main characters are charming ladies man or honest pervert for them to be memorable. Speaking of pervert, he is surrounded by 4 ladies and nothing fazed him. On the other hand, he has absurdly lack of reaction. It's a good thing he is, if he was a normal pervert, the anime will abuse the scene where the guy walks in the room where the girl is changing like no tomorrow. I'd be a happy camper if this anime continues on its slice of life without the pandering scenes. By the looks of it, it doesn't have that atmosphere of sexual tension. The anime seems very sincere in just being the way it is.

Well, he isn't the main character so he doesn't have to be so memorable. He has to be just interesting enough to be a good love interest for Kobeni, and he's doing a good enough job in that department imo.

Guys who aren't MCs usually don't have exaggerated reactions just because they're surrounded by girls. They're somehow more realistic because they don't have to fit the typical MC stereotype.

That is his charm. It's quite rare for us to see a dull fiance in an anime. He doesn't act a tsundere either in from of her or so perverted. He loves her that is a fact. He cares for it but not in an exaggerated manner like some horrible "romance" anime this season. He has his own charisma ad I like the way he is now.

He could have delusions of Kobeni but not expressing it in the open. It's like love above lust.

It's not exactly love. As he said in ep1, he went along because he was told to do so. In that sense, it's more a sense of duty. Which actually makes sense when you remember that it is an arranged marriage. Not exactly the kind where you expect the engaged to love each other. The best you can expect out of this ordeal is that they learn to know and love each other.

Well disagree. He might as well be considered co-protagonists to Kobeni and Mashiro , also he is definitely one of more interesting characters out there not just "interesting enough". His dullnes is interesting trait similiary to Morino Ryoushi (Ookami-san) or Kuroko (Kuroko no Basuke)

I can't be sure since there seemed to be a past between Hakuya and Kobeni as mentioned by Mashiro. Also, there is different (legitimate and not otaku crap) forms of love. Oh, it could be puppy love.

... or maybe under that calm exterior he hides a beast full of lustful desires just waiting for them to be finally alone ... on second thought, nah, that is just me projecting. :-p

With so much unwarranted fuss about the older sister (sorry, forgot her name), I'm slowly starting to lose interest in this anime. The rest of the episode was good though.

Nah, pure lust has no space for self-control. He has self-control, so, at least, love is dominant over lust. Which is a good thing for us men to have.

I don't mine her actually. It's her Siscom/Lomicon delusions that is ruining the show.

Just finished watching the ep. and i got to say, i agree with Mashiro, the whole school appears brainwashed, there's even a whole news outlet devoted to Benio, at least there someone to stop her madness
Btw, this happens to be the first time i found a tsundere not only bereable, but actually quite cute and fun.

Didn't like this episode much than the first one. I thought they overused Benio and Mashiro. I wish they focus on the main characters. Personally, I'm more interested in Kobeni's and Hayuka's background.
