Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo R (Kindaichi Case Files Returns)
Quote:
The new Kindaichi anime series will have 26 episodes. Trailer: CM: Personally this is one of my most anticipated anime next season. The original manga series is among my most favorites, and one of the better ones in the mystery genre that I've read.

The original manga's stories are still the strongest of the case files.
I don't feel like the subsequent mini-stories done after that, and currently running occasionally are strong anymore... Even the main villain and Akechi don't feel as solid as they used to in their sporadic appearances.

Honestly I don't really like Miyuki as a character. Most of the things I remember she does is following Kindaichi around and getting attacked/kidnapped many times. Personality-wise though, she's okay. But I just hope her role in the story could have been better.

I can't decide whether it's better Kindaichi or Detective Conan. Conan has more interesting characters and a central plot, but the cases in Kindaichi are longer, more detailed and the killers are harder to guess imo. Also, I like Kindaichi as a character more, as he doesn't ignore the fact that the situations he deals with are complicated and not necessarily like "bad murderer and good, unfortunate victim". His reaction to murderers with extenuating circumstances is more mature than Conan's I think, as Conan doesn't show any compassion even when the murderer has lost his/her family, killed by the so-called "victim" and has become a criminal due to the malfunctioning of justice. I still can't help it but wonder how heartless can Conan sometimes be, sending them to jail is enough, no need to act haughty and try to morally crush them, their lives were ALREADY ruined by the victims.
But anyway, both series are great, each in its own way. And I also don't mind Miyuki as a character. I like Ran more, but she is ok too, and they are also childhood friends with Kindaichi (my favorite type of pairing). |

Was this Kowloon Treasure case in the manga or novels?
I read a lot of the manga, but only saw this mentioned briefly in another Hong Kong case. Hadn't read this before so this arc will feel fresh to me. Having never watched the original version (rather bits and parts of the Chinese dub) I guess this's the original voice cast, but it really feels very ancient and odd to me at this time. |
