On a serious note, this reminds me of Jikuu Tantei Genshi-kun (or Flint the Time Detective).

Didn't expect this to be announced soon for an original that's scheduled to air a few months after its announcement, but not unheard of to be honest.

The character designs had a strong mid to late-2000s visual flair, I'm going to wonder who will animate this? Perhaps my guess would be some small unknown studio who previously did some animated outsourcing before (remember Anitore?).

The ANN link talks about "8 scientists" also being involved somehow - I assume they are in the background of the announcement img?

The anime's complete title does appear to be "Time Travel Girl: Mari, Waka and the 8 Scientists". Considering the appearance of the 8 in said background, I'm assuming that they're famous scientists from the past that'll be involved in the story. People like Da Vinci, Tesla or Newton perhaps?

Could be like a kind of genderflipped scientist-centric Bill & Ted, where they have to go through time to meet the different historical scientists for some reason.
