I'm not particularly pleased with the adults in Hinako's hometown. Basically kidnapping a little girl off the street and making her stand in their fields for hours without so much as informing her parents or showing a single care as to whether or not she actually wants to do that work, all because they're too lazy to fix their scarecrow.

I really liked this episode. It looks like the show's gonna use the cute moe expressions and reactions every other scene - which isn't my favorite - but I hope to get over it. |

Yeah. We're probably not supposed to take it seriously, but seeing that woman just walk up and take her off the street without Hinako managing to get a single word out felt pretty wrong to me.

I heard that! lol! Well, I do enjoy it - it is my kind of random, light-hearted nonsense to be sure. And the OP is paralyzingly earworm'y too! It consistently makes me chuckle. XD

My first thought on the Hinako flashback was that the adults were bullies and slave masters. But maybe in the context of the countryside, most likely because everyone knows each other, it's like your kid is my kid, so I'll just tell use her how I want.
I love the reaction of the mother, particularly in her mail. P.S: That a bittergourd?!? Hinako eats it raw?!?! |

Enjoyable first episode. The characters are cute, the meido uniform is cute. Well, this is a simple slice of life show. So I'm not expecting much.
Hinako's first reaction when she gets nervous is to turn into a scarecrow? Hmm, will be staying around here. I need another show after maid dragon ended.

Also, the farmer didn't really "force" Hinako to be a scarecrow, they didn't chain her or anything, in fact, after the first one, Hinako went to the fields herself without being asked... |

That girl is so passive she wouldn't dare go against what they asked her to do. The point is that she never agreed to it, and they never asked permission from her parents for her to do it (nor even simply informed her parents that she was doing it).

Episode 3:
I'm guessing friendship is one of the themes in this show given that Hinako manages to make friends with Yua (the Chiaki fangirl). I mean, Hinako is definitely nervous because it's her first days at that school but I think she's going to get pretty used to her new lifestyle. Ah Kuina is still highly amusing to watch with the way she interacts with others, in particular Hinako.

New girl Yua turns out to be much like I expected based on what we've seen of her in the OP. She has a "secret" crush on Chiaki which causes her to try to be all tsun and domineering towards Hinako, but ends up falling in the face of Hinako's adorable innocence. Also, she isn't actually a mean person, since she immediately feels bad every time Hinako gets reduced to tears. Tsundere.
BTW, the theater club's advisor snuck in past Yua while Yua was waiting to see if Hinako would show up to school near the end, there. Looks like her journey of self-improvement has ended. I hope I'm not the only one who was disappointed that CR decided to stop translating the notebooks between scenes. Those things are there for a reason. I want to see what they say.

Ep 03
I also kinda missed the tl of the notes in the notebook ... that being said there's not much more to say other than it is doing its job splendidly as a light hearted comedy for me. I am really beginning to like Kuina (the book eater girl) though ... Actually she reminded me a bit of the child version of the MC from Koufuku Graffitti (Ryou) as she showed up in the post ED sequence when she was interacting with the tough looking, kind hearted convenience store clerk - remember when she bobbed side to side while holding the two onigiri?

Watched ep 2 and 3:
Starting to really enjoy this anime. Hinako looks kawaii in a meido uniform... just needs some confidence to speak up... or she could keep using the bird. Also the opening song lyrics about the girl in the library makes me laugh.
