Sadly it seems the author is in no hurry to continue Mushoku... He is working on a new web novel with virgin orc MC traveling the world hoping to get himself a wife (n8418ff).
Meanwhile on narou, Mushoku Tensei is now #2 in the global ranking, #1 place being taken by Tensei Slime...

Good or bad, I will be enjoying it since MT was my first ever isekai novel (and the only one that I had been reading over and over again for 5 times).
Though I must say the adaptation won't come out great unless it can reach the Orsted fight arc, aka 2 cours. |

Just read the last chapter for redundancy.
Why do you do this to me, MT D: There is some regret indeed in not having the author dedicate more time into seeing the kids grow and make their childhood story a long running series of its own (maybe the SOL version of MT!), but it is true that Rudeus story is done and this was more of an extended epilogue. I found it super interesting that the author broke the genre's convention in making the protagonist just a small, yet important part of a much larger story epic. It gives a lot of possibilities to the universe and makes the character more down to earth in a sense. Here's to the author continuing the overarching story into the Laplace war period.

He didn't really break the isekai conventions though. Most of these were standardized during or after Mushoku Tensei as it was pretty much first.
Hmm giving it second thought, this approach is rare in any genre, I guess you were speaking generally?

I don't think the adaption is going to work. Mushoku Tensei is nto a story that works well outside of the written medium. A lot of character interactions and growth will not be properly understood by turning it into an anime and the story will be lessened. Much like what happened with Overlord.
Though the OUTEAGE! That Rudy's character will generate (if they don't whitewash him) will make it worth it. All the idoots flocking to watch anime now that it is "mainstream" to do so will get an aneurysm when being forced to watch an honestly horrible person get better. Goblin Slayer: they hated me because I had "bad things ™". MT: Hold my beer. Quote:
That's one of the things I liked about MT. Rudy is not actually the "hero". He is that badass mentor character who did stuff before the story begin and whose actions helped shape the world the hero comes to. Him never actually becoming number one, even if he ends up being really strong, also supports this. |
