Wirbel returned to the north to fight demons and said that they'll meet again anyway.
Frieren, Fern, and Stark are traveling by foot instead of by sea though, so it'll be a long time before that happens anyway.

I have a feeling maybe Edel will make another return too since she specializes in mental magic, and I expect Grausam will survive by disguising his appearance like Solitar said.
Even if Himmel breaks free and beats this Grausam, I don't see how they can tell whether they really killed the real one without Edel's magic.

Shounen Sunday is a weekly magazine. It's a bit weird but the first issue of the year comes out in early December. Shounen Jump works the same way.

I've seen pictures of the chapter floating around for a few days now. I didn't dig deeper, I don't really want spoilers.

I normally haven't bothered to check the raws until recently, so I completely forgot to take that into account.

The magazine is officially out today, but it looks like it doesn't get posted on the official web reader until a week later, which is probably when the scanlators will pick it up.

Spoiler for 118:

The chapter starts in reality, where Himmel and Frieren are caught in the illusion magic, while Heiter's affinity with the Goddess makes him resistant.
We also get a short scene of Eisen vs Rivale.

That leaves Heiter to hold off Grausam (and Solitar) alone.
Grausam asks him how long he's going to continue this meaningless effort, to which Heiter says he's not giving up, because whenever he thought something was not possible, Himmel made it possible.

Then we move to the illusion, where Himmel and Frieren are to kiss.
Himmel puts his finger on Frieren's lips, then whispers to her, asking how to get out of the illusion.

Frieren says there's nothing she can do, because even with all her five senses, memories, and mana detection, she perceives it as a perfect reality with no flaws.
However, Himmel noticed otherwise, can.
She asks him if he can move his body, and if so, then he can probably feel his sword too.

Back to reality, where Grausam is about to finish off an exhausted Heiter with one of Solitar's magic swords.
Himmel comes to the rescue and attacks Grausam with his eyes closed.
It turns out he's still trapped in the illusion, but his sense of touch and hearing aren't completely hijacked, as he pushes Grausam back by concentrating on the sound of rustling clothes, their breathing, and the flow of the wind when the air is being cut by his sword.

In the illusion, Frieren comments that she can't hear the battle at all, guessing that the mana detection she usually relies on is working against her this time, and that it would apply to both her as a mage and demons alike.

Back to the battle, Himmel manages to cut off Grausam's arm thanks to Heiter casting a binding spell, which dispels the illusion and wakens Frieren. Himmel tells her to run toward the monument while they hold off Grausam and Solitar, whom he realizes is hiding in the background.

Frieren makes it back, and while Grausam is about to unleash something, Solitar stops him, saying they no longer have a reason to fight since Frieren is gone.
Himmel is still willing to fight since he doesn't want to leave Great Demons as dangerous as them alive, but Solitar retorts by saying then she'll rampage in a way that will change history to where Frieren won't have a future to return to.

Both sides retreat, and Himmel tells Eisen to follow suit.

Rivale naturally wants to continue, but Eisen tells him that warriors who don't know fear will die on the battlefield, and that he's not humanity's strongest warrior, just someone that managed to survive.
He manages to stop Rivale's axe, and land a clean blow, knocking Rivale off the cliff.

Back to Grausam, who's recovering at a tree somewhere, saying he lost his cool. Solitar bets that he got something from Frieren, to which he says "want to know?"
Then Solitar refuses, saying she's not going to listen if he wants to be pretentious.

Next week is a double issue.

It is, and so is Frieren, which is in the same magazine.

That doesn't stop it from skipping some weeks.

Definitely was Himmel's time to shine.

Both sides retreated with no casualties, so it looks like we're probably going to see Grausam and Rivale sometime in the future. It sounds like Grausam might have managed to get Frieren's memories too.
We're definitely at the point where Frieren can't manage to carry the team on her own anymore in the present, so I wonder how Fern and Stark will handle them.

The raws say 新年第3-4合併号につづく (to be continued in New Year's Combined Issue #3-4), so it sounds like a double issue with no break this time?

I am even more convinced than before that Solitar is alive. It's a stable loop, the heroes were aware of that but not the demons. If Solitar was told by Grausam she would die by Frieren's hand after freeing Macht, she would do anything in her power to avoid that. And someone as adept at magic and smart as her can definitely fool Frieren.

The present shouldn't have changed a bit, but this arc showed us that there are still Great Demons scheming.

It doesn't sound like Grausam is going to tell her anything though.

This is a repeat of when Grausam offered to show his true face, and Solitar refused.

I do wonder if Fern's and Stark's home towns were attacked because Grausam has knowledge of Frieren's memories though.

Also this will probably get overshadowed by Jujutsu Kaisen's success, but here's the official twitter announcing that the series surpassed 17 million volume sales, with 7 million of that being sold since the anime started airing:

Given how many omake's Aura has been in lately, I wonder if they'll bring her back somehow as well. She seems to have become quite popular, which no wonder with that character design.
