I'm quite a tall guy and it irritates me when some says "You still watch that (anime)? Why won't you grow up?"

I think it is all right for a guy to like cute stuff; even in the Western world where cuteness is not so encouraged men liking cute stuff is acceptable behaviour. With that said, there are limits in what is considered acceptable. If a guy is seen to obsess about cute stuff too often then they will be looked down upon and called the usual negative things.

Me personally, I can be a sucker for some moe action and like girls to be a little mischievous but if it is taken too far then it can get irritating. Also as another point what I find cute or charming in anime may not be so cool in real life. While watching an anime I can sort of laugh at a tsundere and think: "aw she is kinda cute". If I were to witness such a girl in real life however I wouldn't see the event in the same light.

Have anyone felt being weird for liking cute stuffs and watching magical girls which others normally will think as shows for children or for girls?

Personally, I encountered such so called "persecutions" and its sometimes depressing.... wanting to lock myself.. giggling and smiling alone while watching my favorite anime.
I've never felt weird. Some people think its a bit odd, but I'm accepted. Occasionally there's an idiot that tries to mock me, but why be concerned about what some random person thinks of me? Do they seem concerned about what I think about their obsession with manliness?

To your question about feel persecuted. If I were mocking them for their NOT liking of cute things, they wouldn't care, so why the hell should I care about them mocking me for liking cute things? I shouldn't. Neither should you. Be proud of who you are.

Frankly, there's something we can say about a guy who knocks other guys who like "cute stuff" (like girls) while he grunts, slaps butt of fellow players, and has posters of muscular guys on his wall, but that's a subject for psycho-analysis

Personally, I'd rather hang out with the people who like "cute"

Just keep it to yourself, it will make life a whole lot easier. The only time I had to be concerned about this was when I was in the army, lived in the barracks, had a roommate, and would occasionally read some "fruity" manga. Nothing like Kodomo no Jikan, this was ages ago and I was reading "Lum" (Urusei Yatsura) and caught some shit from the other guys in my unit.

I also had an experience later when I was in college, where my older sister's fiance (a prison psychiatrist) came to visit me with my sister and saw some fansub tapes in my apartment. They just happened to be magical girl shows like Hime-chan's Ribbon and Sailor Moon. That made for an interesting dinner conversation where he tried to psychoanalyze me.

The followup is "Are you about to try and convince me that watching *games* on tv is "grown up"?"

I think being accused of liking cute things is quite lenient as compared to being of accused of watching hentai porn everytime something animated is playing on your laptop
Because of the above reason I usually watch anime when no one's around - not because it bothers me what they think but because I don't want stupid people spoiling my fun with their stupid comments.
In my opinion it doesn't matter if a guy likes cute things - I mean everybody likes a cute little puppy or little baby(as long as the baby doesn't spoil your clothes).
I'm not too much into cute things(I guess you can tell from the sig) but I have my cute characters like, Ushio(she's my favorite all time cutest character), Aria, Yui.... But yeah I don't say that in open 'cause where I live people(even my freinds) aren't that mature to understand that people have the freedom to choose what they like.

Hey,

Just wanted to thank you for helping to edit my stories. I know I've probably given you and all the other subs a lot of grief (not to mention vomitting of blood), but I really appreciate all the help and effort that you offered in order to try and help me be a better journalist. Will definitely remember your advice. Thanks for everything!

P.S. I actually thought you were like, the scariest person in the office at the beginning, haha.
What's at my cubicle:

Me, scariest person in the office, really?

Agreed, I haven't been accused of watching "hentai" for ages but the last time (lunch hour at work), I responded with a vicious "It must be awful being that culturally ignorant. What else don't you understand or know about? Should we keep you away from our international customers?" and I said it loudly. Everyone turned and stared at him, he turned bright red, and then I made him my hobby til he left the company

I hadn't had that much fun in ages (though I was pretty angry at the time).

That. Is. Awesome.

The problem with judgmental people is always their attitude more than whatever is they're judging. People should start with an assessment of harm before they start laying it into people for being different than they are -- i.e. if it doesn't hurt anyone, why would it be bad? I don't know what it is about people's upbringing that encourages them to mock things they don't understand. (But I say all this with the caveat that I'm regularly disgusted by just how judgmental people within anime fandom are of others within the same group. You'd think that people with a minority interest would be more tolerant of other minorities, but it seems quite the opposite. It's nearly enough to despair for humanity.)

She, not he.

And I don't think the things on my desk would make for much of a news story. That's just one side of it. The neat side. The rest of my cubicle is a mess, with stacks of newspapers and other tacky knick-knacks collected over the years.

The funny thing is, I never realised I was "scary". I can be very harsh and I often speak my mind, to the point of getting into explosive arguments with my editor in the newsroom, but it never occurred to me that junior staff would find me frightening. Cocky and egotistical, perhaps, because that's a criticism that has often been levelled at me by closer friends and colleagues (which I take to heart and have tried to correct), but scary?

How can a guy who likes cute, fluffy stuff be scary?

(That's a rhetorical question, by the way. In before jokes about paedophilia and the ilk.)

S'okay. More than a few of my wife's coworkers deem her *scary* (cue skulls, candycanes, and death lightning) and ask me how I survive. But really, if they would just *do* what they say they're going to do and follow the mutually understood procedures, they'd live to see another day.

I think the problems guys who like cute face go well beyond merely appearing unmasculine. I rarely if ever talk about my anime hobby with people outside the fandom, for the simple reason that I don't want to come across as having an unhealthy interest in underage girls. Actually, to be honest that applies to many anime fans as well... I only truly relax about it when I get a hint that the other person is into the same kinds of shows.

Of course, those who know me know that the age range of anime girls and women I find attractive is VERY broad and that I don't consider every anime girl I find cute "attractive" in that sense of the word, but I worry about the risk that the other person just won't get it. Particularly when I return from conventions with a few hundred photos involving schoolgirl outfits (not making that up, I snap photos like crazy at cons).

If it were my only socially awkward hobby I probably wouldn't notice too much. But since my other major hobby is politics-watching - yeah, I frequently find myself wishing I had a hobby I could talk about without a high risk of potentially offending someone.

Edit:

I remember hanging on a Arcade shop trying to get those "cute" stuff toys you try to pick... I often spend too much banging it in disappoint while others (mostly kids) wonders) why I'm doing that... Its embarrassing really..

LOL, no. Saber is absolutely cute. I just changed my sig a few days back. When I posted that, my signature was of Hollow Ichigo - and I'm certain he's not cute

Well if the people around you are uncomfortable with stuff you deem cute, just try to avoid talking about it, keep it to yourself and maybe only discuss it with those with similar interest. It certainly helped me much though, a little pointless trying to force a conversation with someone that doesn't appreciate your interests.

But on the other hand, no harm whatsoever for guys loving cute little animals!
