Everybody was busy preparing the main hall for the upcoming party. All groups and all factions were taking part in all sorts of works. The Riot Force 6 and the Wind Talkers were the busiest, as they chased the tight schedule to make sure the programme would run smoothly while at the same time preparing for the occasion. In spite of their work, they still managed to get a glance to Hikari, who was at the moment having conversations with Carim and Letti while accompanied by several female staffs put under the spell of the Kokurabuji Priestess’ charm.

“We have to do something,” Nanoha murmured and put down the box she was carrying.

Fate nodded. “Sooner or later, Hikari… Hikki will go over the line,” she murmured. “We must fight back. Somehow.” Keroko and Hayate nodded in unison, their murderous eyes were glued on Hikari.

Meanwhile, Armstrong was seen briefing his Wind Talker personnel on the guests’ attendance. “We have the list done here,” he spoke s and handed over copies of the guest list. “I want each and every one of you to read this list thoroughly. Am I clear?”

“Yes, sir.”

“That is all. You are dismissed.”

The Wind Talkers saluted Armstrong and moved to perform their duty. Armstrong left them with their works and approached the awaiting Aces. “Ladies, if you have nothing else to do, I suggest you to get your body working and help with the preparations,” he spoke.

“Ojiichan is so cruel,” Nanoha mumbled. “He doesn’t have to push around like he’s in charge of this party or something.”

“True, true,” Hayate added. “Besides, wasn’t Riot Force 6 in charge of this cosplay party?”

“With all due respect, Missus Hayate,” Armstrong spoke. “The Wind Talkers have been entrusted by the administrative office to supervise this event. Besides, why are you so excited about this… party?”

“Because I’ve wanted to have a massive cosplay party like this, Ojiichan,” Hayate replied. “And you, Ojiichan, are not going to look for an excuse to avoid this occasion. Wakatta?”

“Even if you say so, Hayate-chan,” Fate spoke. “I don’t think Ojiichan needs any cosplay dress.”

“Why not?” Hayate retorted and pointed to Armstrong’s face. “With that plain uniform, Ojiichan looks so lame he’s going to ruin the-” She stopped talking when Armstrong gave her the killer look, and fainted on the spot without even saying anything.

“Did Ojiichan do something to her?” Nanoha asked.

“I don’t think so,” Keroko answered and approached the blissful Hayate.

“Truly, the power of manliness affects even the Mistress of Cosplay!” Zafira hollered before he ran away from Vita and Signum. “REAL MEN DO NOT NEED COSPLAYS! REAL MEN ARE COSPLAYS!”

Armstrong ignored the Aces and the Wolkenritter. “Whatever they want to,” he shrugged and headed towards the Admirals, yet he found himself followed by an ocean of female staffs and trainees (who included Alexandra, Ginga and Fuuko). He stopped, turned around, and headed back towards the Aces; the followers did the same and pursued him wherever he went.

“This is getting too annoying…”

He stopped. He turned towards the women. With the loudest voice he could muster, he screamed: “WHAT DO YOU LADIES WANT FROM ME??”

The women swooned. “Armstrong is so manly when he’s angry…” they sighed.

“Che. I must get myself cured quickly,” Armstrong growled and headed towards the door when he heard his name called out loud. “Isn’t that…”

“Yo! Old man!”

As soon as he turned around, Kitaro jumped onto his head and made various post-battle poses. “Kitaro the Invincible One reporting for duty!” the mechanical rabbit hollered.

“Kitaro? So does that mean…”

“That is true!” Kitaro shouted aloud and made a super sentai pose. “The great Shintaro Takeshi is here! Fear the Zatoichi!” The rabbit continued its antics and impressed the women with its one-man performance.

“I see that the Sword That Cleaves Evil has gained his old look,” Takeshi commented as he approached Armstrong from the behind.

“I find your lax reaction disturbing, Takeshi,” Armstrong murmured.

The blind swordsman chuckled. “I knew someday you’d regain this form,” he replied. “But don’t worry. I will do nothing to provoke your anger.”

“Do as you wish.”

Armstrong took Kitaro off his head, gave it to Takeshi and walked out of the hall. The women moaned in dismay at his departure, and Kitaro scratched its head in confusion at Armstrong’s attitude. “What’s up with that?” the rabbit asked.

“Thank you for the meal,” Hikari sighed in relief and put down the tea cup. “I never thought Mid-Childan tea can be this tasty.”

“Please have some more if you like,” Carim said and gestured Sister Scasch to pour more tea into the cup.

“No, please, I think I have it enough,” Hikari politely rejected. “Thank you for the tea again.” Sister Scasch nodded and took the tray back into the kitchen, leaving Hikari with Carim. Hikari glanced at Carim, who was busy talking with one of the Saint Church priestesses and nodded. “Carim-sama.”

Carim turned to the young woman. “Yes, Miss Hikari?”

Hikari smiled. “What do you think of Ani-sama?”

The Head Priestess blushed. Hikari giggled at her reaction and merely moved a bit so that she was sitting closer to Carim. “What does that reaction supposed to mean, hmm?” she teased.

“Why are you asking a question on Hikki in a sudden?” Carim murmured.

“Because I want to know how you feel towards Ani-sama,” Hikari replied. “And from my knowledge, Ani-sama seems to admire the Head Priestess of Saint Church.”

“So… so that’s it,” Carim spoke and laughed in silly manner. “I’m sorry. I thought you’d ask questions on… our relationship.”

Hikari laughed. “No, no. Ani-sama isn’t the kind of man who would go after a charming woman like you.” Carim blushed for the second time and tried reasoning herself to Hikari. The shrine maiden merely smiled and reached for her hands, gently caressing them. “Say, while we’re at it, how did you first meet Ani-sama?”

Carim smiled at the question. “You surely want to know a lot about your brother, right?”

Hikari giggled. “It can’t be helped, can it?”

Carim took a deep breath. Then, as she clenched Hikari’s hands in return, she spoke: “It was a cold and snowy day… and he was wavering in the park alone.”

Hikari laughed in silly manner. “Did I ever go to that park?” she pondered with a twisted look on her face. “Ah, alright then. What did Ani-sama do back there?”

“I was heading towards the cathedral when I stumbled upon him,” Carim said. “He was lonely. When I asked him what he was doing in the cathedral’s park, he avoided me… like he was trying to hide something.”

“Did he say anything back then?”

Carim shook her head. “At first it was hard having conversation with him, because he was constantly calling these names…”

“Ah, yes,” Hikari pondered. “I remembered now. I ran away from the hospital and had nowhere to go. It was at the end of Christmas season, and everybody didn’t know where I was going. I had totally forgotten that day.”

“Miss Hikari?”

Hikari was startled. “Y…yes, Carim-sama?”

“Your brother wasn’t an anti-social like I first thought,” Carim told her. “I learned that he didn’t want to talk of the Siberian Incident. I understood him, because it was too personal for him.”

“That’s… right, isn’t it?” Hikari slightly frowned. “I never wanted to talk of that incident ever. It brought nothing but painful memories.”

“But then, your brother was a good-hearted person,” Carim continued. “Even though he was pained, he still had the time to talk of his hobby. And you know what? He was quite a humorous man, too.” Hikari said nothing, and Carim noticed what was bothering the shrine maiden. “What’s the matter, Miss Hikari?”

“Iie. Nande mo nai.” Hikari shook her head and tried smiling to the Head Priestess. “I’m sure Ani-sama cherished the time he shared with you, didn’t he?”

Carim nodded. “Yes. I’m sure of it.”

Spoiler for part 3:

It was late afternoon. Everybody was taking a break from their works and returned to their stations. The same went to Riot Force 6, as they returned to their office to discuss their planned activities for the cosplay party.

They, however, had a major plan to do that day.

And their ‘secret agent’ of choice was Vivio, as she was sent back to the hall where Hikari was still having conversations with Carim and Scasch. “Remember, Vivio-chan, your objective is to make Hikari change her clothes,” Fate instructed via intercom.

“But Fate-mama, why would I do that to Hikari-oneechan? She didn’t do anything wrong, did she?” Vivio replied.

“Do it; it’s an order from your mother,” Fate replied. “Besides, she wouldn’t suspect anything if it’s you.”

Vivio had no idea what her adoptive mother was talking of. She shrugged and approached Hikari with a glass of orange juice in her hands. “Hikari-oneechan,” she called her name and suddenly tripped. The orange juice spilled over the shrine maiden’s dress, and Hikari did not see it coming until she was drenched all over.

“Aw! My precious silk dress!” Hikari moaned. “Look at what you’ve done! Do you have any idea of how expensive this dress is?”

“It wasn’t my intention!” Vivio retorted. “Fate-mama and everybody else asked me to do it!”

(Back at their office, Fate twitched due to heart seizure. “Vivio-chan! Don’t leak out the information!”)

“Damn it, Fate. You just want to expose the secret, don’t you?” Hikari suddenly cried and was covering her face beneath the flamboyant sleeves. “How cruel… my precious dress… Ani-sama has struggled to buy this for me, and yet… and yet…” She continued crying as Vivio helplessly apologized for her carelessness. “How could Fate-sama do this to me?”

(The Aces cringed. “Even though it’s only cross-dress, Hikari looks so cute when she cries…” they murmured.)

“Ara, what’s wrong here?” Hikari stopped crying and saw Shamal walking towards her with the likes of Reinforce Zwei. “I thought I could meet Hikki’s little sister here.”

“Sou desu!” Reinforce Zwei. “I am Reinforce desu! This is Shamal desu! Pleased to meet you desu!”

“Shamal-sama… Reinforce-sama…” Hikari cried again. “Fate-sama made Vivio do this to my dress… this is the only dress I have now… what must I do?”

“I’m sorry…” Vivio mumbled.

“What are they up to this time?” she sighed and took hold of Hikari’s hands.. “It’s just your dress getting dirty. Why don’t we go to my room? I can lend you some of the dresses there.”

“Really? Thank you, Shamal-sama. I don’t know how to pay back the gratitude,” she murmured.

Spoiler for inside Shamal's medical office:

Hikari was awed.

She never thought Shamal’s dress collection would fill an entire cabinet (make that five, she corrected, since the room was practically full of closets). She was uncertain, not because she knew she would be asked to wear one of those dresses, but because she could not choose which dress would suit her.

“Well,” Shamal said as she closed the curtains. “I’m sure you’ll love the dresses.”

“Thank you, Shamal-sama, but truth to be told,” Hikari said and shyly fiddled with her fingers. “I’m not used to cosplay. Even though Ani-sama taught me a lot on his hobby, cosplaying is not my type of pastime.”

“Eh? That’s quite a surprise,” Shamal teased and helped Hikari undressing herself. “You want to know a secret Hikki told me? He once told me he always gains freedom whenever he cosplays as a female character, and frankly speaking I agree with him.”

“Ani-sama told you of that?” Hikari replied.

Shamal giggled and took off Hikari’s hairpins. “Yes, he did.”

Hikari was fully undressed. She looked at her body figure in the mirror. Her black hair that was tied in bunches was now flowing freely down her head, neatly covering some part of her upper body. The ruby eyes were shining in natural way, complementing the lovely structure of her face. She was nervous for many good reasons: she never actually saw her body in its most natural form despite her frequent cross-dressing occasions. She blushed to know how beautiful she would turn to be.

(Back at the office, the Aces were now burning in jealously. “I hate to say this, but Hikari is more beautiful than the four of us,” Fate murmured.

“And Shamal doesn’t even know the horrible truth,” Hayate added.)

“I never thought Hikki’s little sister looks this beautiful,” Shamal spoke in admiration and encircled her arms around her shoulders. “Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone else about this,” gently she whispered into her ear.

Hikari gasped. “Shamal-sama?”

The Wolkenritter chuckled and kept her embrace tight for a long time. “It’s just between us. After all, we’re women, right?”

Hikari blushed. “Y…yes, you’re right.”

“Well, then.” Shamal finally let go off her and approached one of the closets to take out several costumes. “I figured out that you’re into shrine maiden stuffs, so I have some of the more… extravagant dresses here.”

“Shamal-sama, actually…” Hikari was shyly giggling as she covered her body with Shamal’s medical coat. “I had been looking forward to wear maid uniform. And a pair of cat-ears and eyeglasses wouldn’t hurt, would they?”

“Ara, just now you said you’re not into cosplay,” Shamal teased.

Hikari giggled. “Gomennasai.”

Spoiler for ten minutes later, at the main hall:

Everybody was smitten.

They had hoped that their eyes were lying to them, yet they could not.

Hikari, the Priestess of Magnolia Temple, sister of Gale Whistler Hikki, was standing in front of them not as a shrine maiden but as an eyeglasses- and cat’s ears-totting maid. They were questioning themselves on whether the cosplay was something Shamal had planned ever since Hikari arrived or it was a mutual agreement between the two women.

“I never thought Hikki-kun’s Imotou would look this good in this cosplay,” a female officer uttered.

“It must be their shared bloodline,” her colleague commented. “Besides, if Hikari-chan instead of Hikki-kun joined the bureau, she would still certainly cosplay for us.”

The two officers stared at Hikari. Realizing she was being watched, Hikari hid her flushed face behind the tray she was asked to carry around. “Stop staring at me,” she murmured. “You’re making me embarrassed.”

“So… so cute…” the gulped.

“Hikari-chan moe!!!!!” male officers roared in approval and cried touched tears. “We don’t care if it’s Hikki or Hikari! The fact that the Kokurabuji Siblings are natural-born cosplayers makes everything look so damn perfect!”

“Banzai! Hikari-chan banzai!” the rest of the men cheered.

Hikari blushed even more than before. “Why… am I being praised?” she asked.

“BECAUSE YOU ARE THE GODDESS OF COSPLAY!!!!” all men shouted in unison.

“Hikari-chan should be proud to have an understanding brother!” all women cheered.

Hikari lowered the tray that had been hiding her face. With a shy smile carved upon her face, she giggled. “Arigatou, minna-sama.” Again, they were smitten by the fact that they were seeing Hikari in shining bubbles and glittering sparkles.

(“Why can’t we ever beat Hikki this time?” Fate murmured and cried depressed tears.

“It’s no use now,” Nanoha said and patted Fate’s shoulder; she, too, was crying routed tears. “Even if we get to reveal his devious scheme, he will still outwit us.”

Hayate was kneeling in complete defeat. “I have been defeated by Hikki’s superior cosplay skill,” she spoke, and was shone by a spotlight from above.

Keroko, on the other hand, was awed by Hikari’s cuteness. “So cute… I can’t believe he’d look so cute…” She shook her head in denial. “What am I talking of? He’s just cross-dressing!”)

Armstrong said nothing. He simply looked at the congregation, shook his head in amusement and left them. “Not the kind of event I want to see before the party,” he told himself and grinned. “But I wonder if he really is going to cherish the memory he’s forging right now.”

He stopped. He looked back at Hikari. “Maybe.”

The party hasn't even started,. and yet Hikki Hikari-

I somehow feel the urge to suddenly kill Hikari rising after reading Keroko's post, but I'm holding myself right now.

An energy aura began to expand from his arm guards and leg greaves, its color a silverish maroon. Slowly, Retsugou's eyes began to cloud as he uttered his last words for the battle, heard only by Ginga.

Retsugou: Gin-nee...nigero...(Gin-nee...run...)

Ginga: Eh?

Suddenly the barrier around the battle shattered as the full effects of dual adrenaline drives meeting each other head on rippled multiple shockwaves out. Ginga and Subaru squinted to see the brothers...only to find that they had basically equipped all of their weapons at once and were slowly advancing on each other.

Ginga: Nanoha-san, ittan koko kara taikyaku desu! Kono mama dewa ore-tachi wa makikondeshimaimasu. (Nanoha-san, we must fall back! At this rate, we'll be pulled into the battle also.)

Nanoha: Dounattanda, kore? (Just what happened?)

Subaru: Ano futari wa...mou tatakau igai no koto wa subete wakaranai bakemono ni nattanda...ano yougen no you ni... (Those two have...become monsters that do not understand anything but fighting...just as it was prophesied...)

Fate: Ittan, hikiagarimasu. Shamal, kochira Fate! Daburu eesu kyuu no kekkai wo tenkai! Hayaku! (We'll pull out for the time being. Shamal, this is Fate! Expand a Double S rank barrier formation! Quickly!)

As if on a cue a barrier strong enough to contain the colliding forces settled over the practice field. However...

Shamal: Eh?! Dare ka ga mou dekiteru mitai desu...(Someone's already done so...)

Fate: Anata janai no ka? (It wasn't you?)

Shamal: Maryoku tanchi! renshuuba no mukou, umi no ue! (Magic detected! Other side of the practice field above the water)

As for our observer...

???: Ah ah...mou mitsukaridashita ka...(Aww...they already found me)

The figure begins closing down his spell formations, but opens a single communication window as it connects audio only.

Comm window: Tennoka kei desu. Dochira-sama desu ka? (This is the Tennoka household. May I ask who is calling?)

???: Sono koe wa Feena-chan ka? Chotto Mabiko-san in tanomi ga arimasu. 'Seimonji no jiken ga torikaeshita' wo ittekure. Basho wa Kidou Rokka. (That voice is Feena-chan? I have a small favor to ask of Mabiko. Tell her that "The Seimonji incident is being repeated." The location is Riot Force 6.)

Comm window(Feena): Hai, Tsuchigami-san. Sugu ni asoko wo mukaeru. (Okay, Tsuchigami-san. We'll be right over)

Tsuchigami: Dewa, ore wa saki ni shitsuresuru. Rokka wa ore no hou wo kiterun desu. Osaki ni tettai shimasu. (Then pardon me. Riot Force 6 is headed my way. I will take my leave now.)

Comm window(Feena): Wakarimashita. (Understood)

The Comm window closed as Tsuchigami Shintetsu breathed a sigh of relief and opened the two status windows of the brothers and a view inside the battlefield before vanishing.

Tsuchigami Shintetsu: Kage kara mamoru no shigoto wa tsurai na...(It's hard protecting from the shadows...)

More plot, less action...I think the next post is gonna be purely action as we see just how crazy the battle gets with twin Adrenaline Drives colliding.

Okay, let's go over this weapon loadout.

Sabers: Nodachi(Vysaga)
Victory/Vanguard: Gauntlets(Soulgain)
Cyclone/Hurricane: Arm Guards and Leg Greaves w/ turbines(Dendoh)
Beat/Buster: Roller Blades
Blitzer/Lightning: All of the above.

And yes, I derived the shadow observer from the 3 professors in the original anime(Tsuchiya, Oogami, Ogata Tesshin)

The Comm window closed as Tsuchigami Shintetsu breathed a sigh of relief and opened the two status windows of the brothers and a view inside the battlefield before vanishing.

More plot, less action...I think the next post is gonna be purely action as we see just how crazy the battle gets with twin Adrenaline Drives colliding.

Don't I.D specialization to their user comes first? Yuuno for one clearly wasn't in tune with R.H while Nanoha is 100% attuned to it by luck. I suppose things like actual heart-to-heart compatibility comes later, and depends on how the A.I develops.

Everybody was busy preparing the main hall for the upcoming party. All groups and all factions were taking part in all sorts of works. The Riot Force 6 and the Wind Talkers were the busiest, as they chased the tight schedule to make sure the programme would run smoothly while at the same time preparing for the occasion. In spite of their work, they still managed to get a glance to Hikari, who was at the moment having conversations with Carim and Letti while accompanied by several female staffs put under the spell of the Kokurabuji Priestess’ charm.

“We have to do something,” Nanoha murmured and put down the box she was carrying.

Fate nodded. “Sooner or later, Hikari… Hikki will go over the line,” she murmured. “We must fight back. Somehow.” Keroko and Hayate nodded in unison, their murderous eyes were glued on Hikari.

Meanwhile, Armstrong was seen briefing his Wind Talker personnel on the guests’ attendance. “We have the list done here,” he spoke s and handed over copies of the guest list. “I want each and every one of you to read this list thoroughly. Am I clear?”

“Yes, sir.”

“That is all. You are dismissed.”

The Wind Talkers saluted Armstrong and moved to perform their duty. Armstrong left them with their works and approached the awaiting Aces. “Ladies, if you have nothing else to do, I suggest you to get your body working and help with the preparations,” he spoke.

“Ojiichan is so cruel,” Nanoha mumbled. “He doesn’t have to push around like he’s in charge of this party or something.”

“True, true,” Hayate added. “Besides, wasn’t Riot Force 6 in charge of this cosplay party?”

“With all due respect, Missus Hayate,” Armstrong spoke. “The Wind Talkers have been entrusted by the administrative office to supervise this event. Besides, why are you so excited about this… party?”

“Because I’ve wanted to have a massive cosplay party like this, Ojiichan,” Hayate replied. “And you, Ojiichan, are not going to look for an excuse to avoid this occasion. Wakatta?”

“Even if you say so, Hayate-chan,” Fate spoke. “I don’t think Ojiichan needs any cosplay dress.”

“Why not?” Hayate retorted and pointed to Armstrong’s face. “With that plain uniform, Ojiichan looks so lame he’s going to ruin the-” She stopped talking when Armstrong gave her the killer look, and fainted on the spot without even saying anything.

“Did Ojiichan do something to her?” Nanoha asked.

“I don’t think so,” Keroko answered and approached the blissful Hayate.

“Truly, the power of manliness affects even the Mistress of Cosplay!” Zafira hollered before he ran away from Vita and Signum. “REAL MEN DO NOT NEED COSPLAYS! REAL MEN ARE COSPLAYS!”

Armstrong ignored the Aces and the Wolkenritter. “Whatever they want to,” he shrugged and headed towards the Admirals, yet he found himself followed by an ocean of female staffs and trainees (who included Alexandra, Ginga and Fuuko). He stopped, turned around, and headed back towards the Aces; the followers did the same and pursued him wherever he went.

“This is getting too annoying…”

He stopped. He turned towards the women. With the loudest voice he could muster, he screamed: “WHAT DO YOU LADIES WANT FROM ME??”

The women swooned. “Armstrong is so manly when he’s angry…” they sighed.

“Che. I must get myself cured quickly,” Armstrong growled and headed towards the door when he heard his name called out loud. “Isn’t that…”

“Yo! Old man!”

As soon as he turned around, Kitaro jumped onto his head and made various post-battle poses. “Kitaro the Invincible One reporting for duty!” the mechanical rabbit hollered.

“Kitaro? So does that mean…”

“That is true!” Kitaro shouted aloud and made a super sentai pose. “The great Shintaro Takeshi is here! Fear the Zatoichi!” The rabbit continued its antics and impressed the women with its one-man performance.

“I see that the Sword That Cleaves Evil has gained his old look,” Takeshi commented as he approached Armstrong from the behind.

“I find your lax reaction disturbing, Takeshi,” Armstrong murmured.

The blind swordsman chuckled. “I knew someday you’d regain this form,” he replied. “But don’t worry. I will do nothing to provoke your anger.”

“Do as you wish.”

Armstrong took Kitaro off his head, gave it to Takeshi and walked out of the hall. The women moaned in dismay at his departure, and Kitaro scratched its head in confusion at Armstrong’s attitude. “What’s up with that?” the rabbit asked.

“Thank you for the meal,” Hikari sighed in relief and put down the tea cup. “I never thought Mid-Childan tea can be this tasty.”

“Please have some more if you like,” Carim said and gestured Sister Scasch to pour more tea into the cup.

“No, please, I think I have it enough,” Hikari politely rejected. “Thank you for the tea again.” Sister Scasch nodded and took the tray back into the kitchen, leaving Hikari with Carim. Hikari glanced at Carim, who was busy talking with one of the Saint Church priestesses and nodded. “Carim-sama.”

Carim turned to the young woman. “Yes, Miss Hikari?”

Hikari smiled. “What do you think of Ani-sama?”

The Head Priestess blushed. Hikari giggled at her reaction and merely moved a bit so that she was sitting closer to Carim. “What does that reaction supposed to mean, hmm?” she teased.

“Why are you asking a question on Hikki in a sudden?” Carim murmured.

“Because I want to know how you feel towards Ani-sama,” Hikari replied. “And from my knowledge, Ani-sama seems to admire the Head Priestess of Saint Church.”

“So… so that’s it,” Carim spoke and laughed in silly manner. “I’m sorry. I thought you’d ask questions on… our relationship.”

Hikari laughed. “No, no. Ani-sama isn’t the kind of man who would go after a charming woman like you.” Carim blushed for the second time and tried reasoning herself to Hikari. The shrine maiden merely smiled and reached for her hands, gently caressing them. “Say, while we’re at it, how did you first meet Ani-sama?”

Carim smiled at the question. “You surely want to know a lot about your brother, right?”

Hikari giggled. “It can’t be helped, can it?”

Carim took a deep breath. Then, as she clenched Hikari’s hands in return, she spoke: “It was a cold and snowy day… and he was wavering in the park alone.”

Hikari laughed in silly manner. “Did I ever go to that park?” she pondered with a twisted look on her face. “Ah, alright then. What did Ani-sama do back there?”

“I was heading towards the cathedral when I stumbled upon him,” Carim said. “He was lonely. When I asked him what he was doing in the cathedral’s park, he avoided me… like he was trying to hide something.”

“Did he say anything back then?”

Carim shook her head. “At first it was hard having conversation with him, because he was constantly calling these names…”

“Ah, yes,” Hikari pondered. “I remembered now. I ran away from the hospital and had nowhere to go. It was at the end of Christmas season, and everybody didn’t know where I was going. I had totally forgotten that day.”

“Miss Hikari?”

Hikari was startled. “Y…yes, Carim-sama?”

“Your brother wasn’t an anti-social like I first thought,” Carim told her. “I learned that he didn’t want to talk of the Siberian Incident. I understood him, because it was too personal for him.”

“That’s… right, isn’t it?” Hikari slightly frowned. “I never wanted to talk of that incident ever. It brought nothing but painful memories.”

“But then, your brother was a good-hearted person,” Carim continued. “Even though he was pained, he still had the time to talk of his hobby. And you know what? He was quite a humorous man, too.” Hikari said nothing, and Carim noticed what was bothering the shrine maiden. “What’s the matter, Miss Hikari?”

“Iie. Nande mo nai.” Hikari shook her head and tried smiling to the Head Priestess. “I’m sure Ani-sama cherished the time he shared with you, didn’t he?”

Carim nodded. “Yes. I’m sure of it.”

It was late afternoon. Everybody was taking a break from their works and returned to their stations. The same went to Riot Force 6, as they returned to their office to discuss their planned activities for the cosplay party.

They, however, had a major plan to do that day.

And their ‘secret agent’ of choice was Vivio, as she was sent back to the hall where Hikari was still having conversations with Carim and Scasch. “Remember, Vivio-chan, your objective is to make Hikari change her clothes,” Fate instructed via intercom.

“But Fate-mama, why would I do that to Hikari-oneechan? She didn’t do anything wrong, did she?” Vivio replied.

“Do it; it’s an order from your mother,” Fate replied. “Besides, she wouldn’t suspect anything if it’s you.”

Vivio had no idea what her adoptive mother was talking of. She shrugged and approached Hikari with a glass of orange juice in her hands. “Hikari-oneechan,” she called her name and suddenly tripped. The orange juice spilled over the shrine maiden’s dress, and Hikari did not see it coming until she was drenched all over.

“Aw! My precious silk dress!” Hikari moaned. “Look at what you’ve done! Do you have any idea of how expensive this dress is?”

“It wasn’t my intention!” Vivio retorted. “Fate-mama and everybody else asked me to do it!”

(Back at their office, Fate twitched due to heart seizure. “Vivio-chan! Don’t leak out the information!”)

“Damn it, Fate. You just want to expose the secret, don’t you?” Hikari suddenly cried and was covering her face beneath the flamboyant sleeves. “How cruel… my precious dress… Ani-sama has struggled to buy this for me, and yet… and yet…” She continued crying as Vivio helplessly apologized for her carelessness. “How could Fate-sama do this to me?”

(The Aces cringed. “Even though it’s only cross-dress, Hikari looks so cute when she cries…” they murmured.)

“Ara, what’s wrong here?” Hikari stopped crying and saw Shamal walking towards her with the likes of Reinforce Zwei. “I thought I could meet Hikki’s little sister here.”

“Sou desu!” Reinforce Zwei. “I am Reinforce desu! This is Shamal desu! Pleased to meet you desu!”

“Shamal-sama… Reinforce-sama…” Hikari cried again. “Fate-sama made Vivio do this to my dress… this is the only dress I have now… what must I do?”

“I’m sorry…” Vivio mumbled.

“What are they up to this time?” she sighed and took hold of Hikari’s hands.. “It’s just your dress getting dirty. Why don’t we go to my room? I can lend you some of the dresses there.”

“Really? Thank you, Shamal-sama. I don’t know how to pay back the gratitude,” she murmured.

Spoiler for inside Shamal's medical office:

Hikari was awed.

She never thought Shamal’s dress collection would fill an entire cabinet (make that five, she corrected, since the room was practically full of closets). She was uncertain, not because she knew she would be asked to wear one of those dresses, but because she could not choose which dress would suit her.

“Well,” Shamal said as she closed the curtains. “I’m sure you’ll love the dresses.”

“Thank you, Shamal-sama, but truth to be told,” Hikari said and shyly fiddled with her fingers. “I’m not used to cosplay. Even though Ani-sama taught me a lot on his hobby, cosplaying is not my type of pastime.”

“Eh? That’s quite a surprise,” Shamal teased and helped Hikari undressing herself. “You want to know a secret Hikki told me? He once told me he always gains freedom whenever he cosplays as a female character, and frankly speaking I agree with him.”

“Ani-sama told you of that?” Hikari replied.

Shamal giggled and took off Hikari’s hairpins. “Yes, he did.”

Hikari was fully undressed. She looked at her body figure in the mirror. Her black hair that was tied in bunches was now flowing freely down her head, neatly covering some part of her upper body. The ruby eyes were shining in natural way, complementing the lovely structure of her face. She was nervous for many good reasons: she never actually saw her body in its most natural form despite her frequent cross-dressing occasions. She blushed to know how beautiful she would turn to be.

(Back at the office, the Aces were now burning in jealously. “I hate to say this, but Hikari is more beautiful than the four of us,” Fate murmured.

“And Shamal doesn’t even know the horrible truth,” Hayate added.)

“I never thought Hikki’s little sister looks this beautiful,” Shamal spoke in admiration and encircled her arms around her shoulders. “Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone else about this,” gently she whispered into her ear.

Hikari gasped. “Shamal-sama?”

The Wolkenritter chuckled and kept her embrace tight for a long time. “It’s just between us. After all, we’re women, right?”

Hikari blushed. “Y…yes, you’re right.”

“Well, then.” Shamal finally let go off her and approached one of the closets to take out several costumes. “I figured out that you’re into shrine maiden stuffs, so I have some of the more… extravagant dresses here.”

“Shamal-sama, actually…” Hikari was shyly giggling as she covered her body with Shamal’s medical coat. “I had been looking forward to wear maid uniform. And a pair of cat-ears and eyeglasses wouldn’t hurt, would they?”

“Ara, just now you said you’re not into cosplay,” Shamal teased.

Hikari giggled. “Gomennasai.”

Spoiler for ten minutes later, at the main hall:

Everybody was smitten.

They had hoped that their eyes were lying to them, yet they could not.

Hikari, the Priestess of Magnolia Temple, sister of Gale Whistler Hikki, was standing in front of them not as a shrine maiden but as an eyeglasses- and cat’s ears-totting maid. They were questioning themselves on whether the cosplay was something Shamal had planned ever since Hikari arrived or it was a mutual agreement between the two women.

“I never thought Hikki-kun’s Imotou would look this good in this cosplay,” a female officer uttered.

“It must be their shared bloodline,” her colleague commented. “Besides, if Hikari-chan instead of Hikki-kun joined the bureau, she would still certainly cosplay for us.”

The two officers stared at Hikari. Realizing she was being watched, Hikari hid her flushed face behind the tray she was asked to carry around. “Stop staring at me,” she murmured. “You’re making me embarrassed.”

“So… so cute…” the gulped.

“Hikari-chan moe!!!!!” male officers roared in approval and cried touched tears. “We don’t care if it’s Hikki or Hikari! The fact that the Kokurabuji Siblings are natural-born cosplayers makes everything look so damn perfect!”

“Banzai! Hikari-chan banzai!” the rest of the men cheered.

Hikari blushed even more than before. “Why… am I being praised?” she asked.

“BECAUSE YOU ARE THE GODDESS OF COSPLAY!!!!” all men shouted in unison.

“Hikari-chan should be proud to have an understanding brother!” all women cheered.

Hikari lowered the tray that had been hiding her face. With a shy smile carved upon her face, she giggled. “Arigatou, minna-sama.” Again, they were smitten by the fact that they were seeing Hikari in shining bubbles and glittering sparkles.

(“Why can’t we ever beat Hikki this time?” Fate murmured and cried depressed tears.

“It’s no use now,” Nanoha said and patted Fate’s shoulder; she, too, was crying routed tears. “Even if we get to reveal his devious scheme, he will still outwit us.”

Hayate was kneeling in complete defeat. “I have been defeated by Hikki’s superior cosplay skill,” she spoke, and was shone by a spotlight from above.

Keroko, on the other hand, was awed by Hikari’s cuteness. “So cute… I can’t believe he’d look so cute…” She shook her head in denial. “What am I talking of? He’s just cross-dressing!”)

Armstrong said nothing. He simply looked at the congregation, shook his head in amusement and left them. “Not the kind of event I want to see before the party,” he told himself and grinned. “But I wonder if he really is going to cherish the memory he’s forging right now.”

He stopped. He looked back at Hikari. “Maybe.”

The party hasn't even started,. and yet Hikki Hikari-

An energy aura began to expand from his arm guards and leg greaves, its color a silverish maroon. Slowly, Retsugou's eyes began to cloud as he uttered his last words for the battle, heard only by Ginga.

Retsugou: Gin-nee...nigero...(Gin-nee...run...)

Ginga: Eh?

Suddenly the barrier around the battle shattered as the full effects of dual adrenaline drives meeting each other head on rippled multiple shockwaves out. Ginga and Subaru squinted to see the brothers...only to find that they had basically equipped all of their weapons at once and were slowly advancing on each other.

Ginga: Nanoha-san, ittan koko kara taikyaku desu! Kono mama dewa ore-tachi wa makikondeshimaimasu. (Nanoha-san, we must fall back! At this rate, we'll be pulled into the battle also.)

Nanoha: Dounattanda, kore? (Just what happened?)

Subaru: Ano futari wa...mou tatakau igai no koto wa subete wakaranai bakemono ni nattanda...ano yougen no you ni... (Those two have...become monsters that do not understand anything but fighting...just as it was prophesied...)

Fate: Ittan, hikiagarimasu. Shamal, kochira Fate! Daburu eesu kyuu no kekkai wo tenkai! Hayaku! (We'll pull out for the time being. Shamal, this is Fate! Expand a Double S rank barrier formation! Quickly!)

As if on a cue a barrier strong enough to contain the colliding forces settled over the practice field. However...

Shamal: Eh?! Dare ka ga mou dekiteru mitai desu...(Someone's already done so...)

Fate: Anata janai no ka? (It wasn't you?)

Shamal: Maryoku tanchi! renshuuba no mukou, umi no ue! (Magic detected! Other side of the practice field above the water)

As for our observer...

The figure begins closing down his spell formations, but opens a single communication window as it connects audio only.

Comm window(Feena): Hai, Tsuchigami-san. Sugu ni asoko wo mukaeru. (Okay, Tsuchigami-san. We'll be right over)

The Comm window closed as Tsuchigami Shintetsu breathed a sigh of relief and opened the two status windows of the brothers and a view inside the battlefield before vanishing.

More plot, less action...I think the next post is gonna be purely action as we see just how crazy the battle gets with twin Adrenaline Drives colliding.

Koji and Maren ran towards the lab aboard the Arthra, the only place Shari would take Treize to.

The door slid open, "Trei-eh?" Koji blinked.
In the room were indeed Shari and Treize, but also Fate.

"Fate-senpai...Why are you here?" Koji regained his composure.
"I ran into Shari when she was heading here, I wanted to check on Treize."
"Fate-san caught me before I could-" Shari then noticed everyone's gaze.
"What were you going to say, Shari?" Fate asked.
"N-Nothing..." She shrunk and sighed.

"So, how is she?" Koji asked.
"She healthy, but for a Sentoukijin, she seems a bit more fagile than them." Shari commented.
"What do you mean?" Fate asked.
"With this equipment I can't really tell, but Marie-san might know. We'll have to wait until we get to the HQ."
"I see..." Fate looked at the sleeping Treize.

"Can we take her?" Maren asked.
"Oh, yes, she just needs to rest." Shari replied.
Maren gently picked Treize up, "Then, we'll take her to a room and let her rest." and walked out of the room.
Koji was about to follow her when, "Koji-san, wait."
"What is it?" He turned to her.
"Here..." She handed him a silver ring.
"Undine?" He blinked.
"Yes, I finished repairing it, nothing serious." She assured him.

Koji sighed, "Yui pushed herself to her limits again."
Fate giggled. "Just like Nanoha."
"Eh? How's Nanoha-senpai?" Koji turned to Fate.
"Resting, with Vivio." She smiled.
"I see..." He smiled as well, "I'll be going now." And left.
Fate followed him to the hallway, "You too, get some rest."
"Fate-senpai too." He countered, and went on his way.

After delivering Undine to Yui, Koji was heading to the room where Maren took Treize.
He ran into Hayate and Rein.
"Koji-sama~" Rein flew at him.
"Hayate-senpai, Rein." He raised a hand, letting Rein land on it.
"Thank you ~desu" She said as he brought her to his shoulder.
"Good work today." Hayate walked up to them and congratulated Koji.
"Yes." He nodded. "Thanks for looking after Yui for me."

"No problem." She smiled. "How's Yui?"
"The same as usual, acting like nothing happened."
Hayate giggled. "Vita is doing the same."
"Vita-san? What happened?"
Hayate made a worried face, "She and Eisen took a lot of damage, but Shamal says they'll be fine after some rest."
Koji worried as well, "I see...Vita-san is very passionate when it comes to protecting someone, even to the point of ignoring her own body."
"Yes, but, that's her reason to live, protecting those she likes...everyone here is like that." Hayate commented.
"True, and we all are stubborn at something...in Vita-san's case, she refuses to clearly express her feelings." He laughed.
Hayate laughed as well, "So true ~ya."

Meanwhile, where Vita is...
"Kch!" Vita sneezed.
"Vita-chan, are you catching a cold?" Shamal asked.
"Do we even catch colds?" Vita said as she cleaned her nose.

Back to Koji, Hayate and Rein...

"Rein, you've been quiet for a while now, anything wrong?" Haye tilted her head to look at Rein.
"Nothing ~desu. Just enjoying the moment~" She said happily, leaning onto Koji.

He tittered, "By the way, where are you going now?" Koji asked.
Hayate sighed, "My office, I need to prepare a speech for tomorrow..."
Koji blinked, "A speech?"
"Yes, right now, the Arthra is heading to the Main Branch HQ, tomorrow morning I'll be doing a speech about today's mission, Inspector Acous and Sister Schach will be there too."
"I see...Must be tough being a commander..."
"Not really, well, to me at least doesn't seem hard."
Koji nodded, "Hayate-senpai is good leader."
"Thank you ~ya" She smiled. "You should give it a try, take an exam to increase your rank."

Koji scratched his cheek, "Well...I'm not much of a leader myself...just good at following orders and acting on my own."
"Is that so?" Hayate looked at him curious.
"Besides, I don't care about getting a higher rank, right now, all that matters is becoming a Knight, just that."
"Oh, now that you mention it." Hayate remembered, "I spoke with Carim a while ago, she heard from Schach that you've reached a good level to be knighted."
"Is that so?" Rein tilted her head.
"Yes, Sister Schach mentioned it before."
"Then be sure to speak with Carim to schedule the ceremony."
"Yes." He nodded.

They stopped, "This is where we split, let's go, Rein." Hayate called her.
"Hai~desu." She flew off Koji's shoulder and stopped mid-air, turning back to him, "See you later, Koji-sama~" She winked and followed Hayate.
"Y-Yes..." He waved at her.

As he saw them go, he sighed, "Knight...eh?" He smiled, and took his path.

Meanwhile...
After leaving Treize in a room, Maren went to see Yui.

"Ah, Maren-chan~" Yui said with a smile.
"Sorry, I left in such a hurry I never got to ask you how you were." Maren walked to her and sat on a chair.
"I'm fine, nothing to worry abou-"
Yui blushed as Maren put her forehead against hers, "...Yes, your temperature is fine."
"Ah...ah..." Yui couldn't say a word.
Maren backed onto the chair she was, "Don't worry Koji-sama too much, okay?" She smiled at her.
Yui nodded silently. "Thanks..."
"No problem." She smiled at Yui. "You're Koji-sama's precious little sister after all."

Hearing that, Yui remembered something...
"Ne, Maren-chan...Did Onii-chan ever tell you of the time I changed?" Yui asked.
Maren blinked at the sudden question, "Well...He mentioned once that when you were younger he left you at the Yagami residence, and when he came back you were never the same..."
"I see..." She forced a smile. "After that event, our relationship didn't go very well as I was always causing trouble."
Maren listened to Yui's story.
"Things got worse to the point Onii-chan began to avoid me..."
"Yui...you don't have to tell me." Maren asked her to stop, as it seemed painful for her.
Yui shook her head, "No, it's okay..."

"It was five years ago...we were still rookies, but we went on missions with Nanoha-neesan and the others." She reminisced.
"Then, during a mission..."

[Flashback]
We went along Nanoha-nee, Vita-chan, Shamal-sensei and Signum-nee to stop a group of toublemakers that were attacking a village.
Other Clerks of the Air Force had been sent there before, but couldn't deal with them.

Shamal-sensei and I offered support while Nanoha-nee took Center Guard position, Vita-chan and Signum-nee were Front Attackers, Onii-chan worked as a Guard Wing.
They were dealt with quickly, but as we were arresting them...

"Accursed brats, if I'm going down, I'll take as much as I can!" The pointed his staff at Onii-chan.
I noticed it and flew to Onii-chan, shouting, "Onii-chan look out!"

I put myself in the beam's path, felt a sharp pain on my chest and when I realized, I was already on the ground.
"Yu...i?" Onii-chan said shocked, walked to me and fell on his knees.
"Yui! YUI!!!!" He shouted as he held me. "O-Onii..." I tried to reply.
My sight became blurred and I lost my consciousness.
[/Flashback]

"After that, I don't know exactly what happened, but..." She smiled softly. "Onii-chan and I became closer again."
"I see." Maren smiled as well.
"The injury wasn't that bad, but Onii-chan stayed with me until I was discharged." She continued.
"That made me very happy, we talked about a lot of things while I was recovering and we started understanding eachother."

"When I recovered, we started spending more time together in training, school and at home."
"I stopped bothering other people with my selfishness, and became who I am today thanks to Onii-chan."
Maren sweatdropped. "I-I see..."
Yui looked at her, "Maren-chan, what's wrong?"
"N-Nothing..." She smiled while her eyebrow twitched. (Doesn't she still bother people with her cosplay? Does that mean her tendencies were worse back then?)

Yui looked up as she remembered, "We went back to the time before meeting Hayate-nee and the others, when he was the gentle, protective Onii-chan." She paused.
"...It's that kind of Onii-chan that I..." She blushed. "Ahem...well look at the time! It's time for my nap!"
When Maren noticed, she was already out of the infirmary, "...eh?" she blinked.

Spoiler for what happened:

Shamal quickly flew to them and gave Yui emergency healing.

The man who shot Yui managed to free some of the other men and continued fighting.
Koji, with desperate eyes, stood there looking at Shamal healing Yui.

"Die!" One of the men jumped in the air, about to strike Koji.
"Ko-chan lo-" Shamal wasn't even able to finish her sentence as Koji reacted with inhuman speed.
With a single upwards slash, Koji shattered the man's axe-like device and inflicted a deep wound on him.
After flying in the air for a couple of seconds due to the strike, the man hits the ground, unconsious.

Koji's eyes were eerily narrow as he searched the area for his sister's attacker.
As he found him, Koji madly shouted, "WHAAAAAAAA!" as the Belka triangle appeared under him and a wild wind formed.
[Exprozion!] Air loaded three cartriges. [Gigant Zweihander!] and changed into a massive sword.

As Koji was about to bring the sword down on his 'prey', Leavatein in Snake Form wrapped around the blade, stopping the attack.
"Minawa, control yourself!" Signum shouted at him.

As Signum struggled with Koji to keep him in place, Vita captured the attacker and took it to Nanoha, who was keeping an eye on the others.
"Vita-chan, stay here, I'll go talk to Koji-kun." She asked Vita.
Vita nodded and saw her go.

"Signum-san..." Nanoha looked at her.
"Minawa lost himself in rage, I'm trying to settle him down, but he's offering resistance." Signum explained as she pulled Leavantein's chain to her.
"He's depleting his magic at an alarming rate, causing an increase in power..." Nanoha looked at Koji, worried.

Nanoha approached him and talked to him, "Koji-kun, stop right now or you'll hurt yourself!" she pleaded.
But Nanoha's words didn't reach him, he kept rambling incoherent phrases about destroying everyone and everything.
"Takamachi, hurry up. If Minawa keeps this up, he'll break free." Signum warned her.

"Then...I guess I have no choice. Raising Heart!" She called out.
[Alright. Shooting Mode] RH's head changed to it's shooting form.
Nanoha pointed RH at Koji, [Buster Set]
"Sorry Koji-kun, but if you can't be reasoned with, then I'll have to shoot you down!" She shouted as the attack charged.

"Divine..." She said.
Just then, Air escaped Laevatein's grip and Koji prepared to strike Nanoha.
"BUSTER!!!" Nanoha shouted and fired.
Before Air reached Nanoha, the beam hit Koji, pushing him several feet back before causing an explosion.

Amoung the capture men, one commented, "Y-you even shoot down your own comrades?" He said surprised.
The man was bonked on the head by Vita's Eisen, "Shut up, no one asked you anything."

As the smoke cleared, Air, still spinning, falling from the sky and burying part of the blade into the ground, returning to normal size.
Koji was on the center of a small crater, unconscious.

After asking a clerk, Koji arrived to the room Maren left Treize, but only she was there, sleeping.
"Eh? Maren isn't here..." He looked around.

The room was somewhat darkened, on a table were Treize's gear, most of it is common in a Sentoukijin's equipment, except for the parts made especially for her.
He walked up to the bed and sat on a chair, looking at her, "She kinda looks like Yui when she's sleeping." He smiled.
As he watched Treize sleeping, he yawned, "All this silence is making me sleepy..." He rubbed his eyes.

Then, Koji noticed a pair of red eyes looking at him, "Sorry did I wake you?"
She nodded slightly.
"Oh, I haven't introduced myself, have I? My name is Minawa Koji, just Koji is fine with me."
"Ko...ji." She blinked.
"Yes, Koji." He smiled.
"Are you sleepy?" She asked.
"A little...yes." He replied.
"Then sleep here."
"Ah, you see...you're already sleeping there." He tried to decline.
"But the bed is big enough..."
"That's true, but I'm still in my uniform..." He tried again.
"Take it off."
His eye twitched, (She's a bit too innocent...)

That moment, Maren came in.
"Oh, Maren, where were you?" He asked, finding a way out of that conversation with Treize.
"I was with Yui." then noticed Treize, "You're awake?"
Treize nodded.
"Then come with us." She sat on the bed.
"Where to?" Koji asked.
"The cafeteria, to get something to eat, it almost dinner time." She pointed it out.
"Eh? really?" He took out Air, who displayed the time. "You're right..."

So the three left the room, and headed to the cafeteria.
It was most likely the first time Treize tasted food, yet, strangely enough, she knew how to eat.
Either she was copying others or it was because of the knowledge she had implanted into her when she was created.

Anyway, to their eyes, she seemed to be enjoying her meal, and the company of Caro and Erio, along with Subaru and Teana.

After the meal, the Arthra arrived to the HQ, but the crew remained on board.
Leaving Treize with Erio and Caro, Koji and Maren went to write their reports on today's incident before the end of the day.

Though, it took longer than expected, when they finished them, it was already past mid-night.

Koji walked along the hall, with Maren at his side, heading to their rooms.

They stopped by a window and looked at the infinite scenery outside.

Silence filled the empty hallway where they stood.

"Y-Yeah?" He blinked.

Koji looked at her, "Maren?"
Looking out the window, she explained, "I now see how foolish I was, avoiding relationships with others, carrying this burden alone."
She then turned to him, "But, because of you, your perseverance in trying to make me smile, your positive disposition and warmth, I..."
"M-Maren..." He looked into her eyes, and felt it, she was trying to express her gratitude, but words alone could not fully transmit it.
"Thanks to you, I am here, being my true self without fear of being hurt...I am truly grateful to you for showing me the way." She stepped closer to him.
"Maren..." He smiled.

A bit embarrassed, Maren leaned onto him.
Koji set his hands on her waist, "And I...I'm glad I met you, Maren." He held her close to him and enjoyed the moment for some seconds
Then Maren gently pushing herself away from Koji's chest, she looks up at him, and doesn't say a word.
Koji smiled as he looked Maren's shy expression, "It's my turn this time...right?"
Maren nodded and raised herself, while Koji leaned forward, both closed their eyes and kissed.

A few seconds later, they broke it, and looked at each other.
"It felt better this time." Maren commented.
Koji chuckled. "It did? I wonder why..." He asked playfully raising an eyebrow.
Maren smiled, "Because we are getting to know each other better."
"Maybe..." He leaned forward again, and Maren followed his lead.

After that, they held each other for sometime, enjoying the scene on the other side of the window.
Koji then asked, "Shall we go then?"
"Go? Where?" Maren asked, still enjoying the moment.
"To bed, where else?" He explained.
Maren's face turned red, "B-bed? I-I think it's still too early for that..." She paused, then looking away, continues, "...but if you insist, then..."

Koji then realized what he said, "Ah...I didn't mean it that way!!" He stepped back, "Just sleep, in our respective rooms, that's all."
"O-Oh..." Maren now understood, "I see. I'm sorry, it was my mistake..." She bowed slightly.
"N-no need to bow...I was just a bit vague." He tittered embarrassed. "Anyway, shall we?"
Maren nodded, "Yes."
And the two walked together, to the dorm section.

Everybody was busy preparing the main hall for the upcoming party. All groups and all factions were taking part in all sorts of works. The Riot Force 6 and the Wind Talkers were the busiest, as they chased the tight schedule to make sure the programme would run smoothly while at the same time preparing for the occasion. In spite of their work, they still managed to get a glance to Hikari, who was at the moment having conversations with Carim and Letti while accompanied by several female staffs put under the spell of the Kokurabuji Priestess’ charm.

“We have to do something,” Nanoha murmured and put down the box she was carrying.

Fate nodded. “Sooner or later, Hikari… Hikki will go over the line,” she murmured. “We must fight back. Somehow.” Keroko and Hayate nodded in unison, their murderous eyes were glued on Hikari.

Meanwhile, Armstrong was seen briefing his Wind Talker personnel on the guests’ attendance. “We have the list done here,” he spoke s and handed over copies of the guest list. “I want each and every one of you to read this list thoroughly. Am I clear?”

“Yes, sir.”

“That is all. You are dismissed.”

The Wind Talkers saluted Armstrong and moved to perform their duty. Armstrong left them with their works and approached the awaiting Aces. “Ladies, if you have nothing else to do, I suggest you to get your body working and help with the preparations,” he spoke.

“Ojiichan is so cruel,” Nanoha mumbled. “He doesn’t have to push around like he’s in charge of this party or something.”

“True, true,” Hayate added. “Besides, wasn’t Riot Force 6 in charge of this cosplay party?”

“With all due respect, Missus Hayate,” Armstrong spoke. “The Wind Talkers have been entrusted by the administrative office to supervise this event. Besides, why are you so excited about this… party?”

“Because I’ve wanted to have a massive cosplay party like this, Ojiichan,” Hayate replied. “And you, Ojiichan, are not going to look for an excuse to avoid this occasion. Wakatta?”

“Even if you say so, Hayate-chan,” Fate spoke. “I don’t think Ojiichan needs any cosplay dress.”

“Why not?” Hayate retorted and pointed to Armstrong’s face. “With that plain uniform, Ojiichan looks so lame he’s going to ruin the-” She stopped talking when Armstrong gave her the killer look, and fainted on the spot without even saying anything.

“Did Ojiichan do something to her?” Nanoha asked.

“I don’t think so,” Keroko answered and approached the blissful Hayate.

“Truly, the power of manliness affects even the Mistress of Cosplay!” Zafira hollered before he ran away from Vita and Signum. “REAL MEN DO NOT NEED COSPLAYS! REAL MEN ARE COSPLAYS!”

Armstrong ignored the Aces and the Wolkenritter. “Whatever they want to,” he shrugged and headed towards the Admirals, yet he found himself followed by an ocean of female staffs and trainees (who included Alexandra, Ginga and Fuuko). He stopped, turned around, and headed back towards the Aces; the followers did the same and pursued him wherever he went.

“This is getting too annoying…”

He stopped. He turned towards the women. With the loudest voice he could muster, he screamed: “WHAT DO YOU LADIES WANT FROM ME??”

The women swooned. “Armstrong is so manly when he’s angry…” they sighed.

“Che. I must get myself cured quickly,” Armstrong growled and headed towards the door when he heard his name called out loud. “Isn’t that…”

“Yo! Old man!”

As soon as he turned around, Kitaro jumped onto his head and made various post-battle poses. “Kitaro the Invincible One reporting for duty!” the mechanical rabbit hollered.

“Kitaro? So does that mean…”

“That is true!” Kitaro shouted aloud and made a super sentai pose. “The great Shintaro Takeshi is here! Fear the Zatoichi!” The rabbit continued its antics and impressed the women with its one-man performance.

“I see that the Sword That Cleaves Evil has gained his old look,” Takeshi commented as he approached Armstrong from the behind.

“I find your lax reaction disturbing, Takeshi,” Armstrong murmured.

The blind swordsman chuckled. “I knew someday you’d regain this form,” he replied. “But don’t worry. I will do nothing to provoke your anger.”

“Do as you wish.”

Armstrong took Kitaro off his head, gave it to Takeshi and walked out of the hall. The women moaned in dismay at his departure, and Kitaro scratched its head in confusion at Armstrong’s attitude. “What’s up with that?” the rabbit asked.

“Thank you for the meal,” Hikari sighed in relief and put down the tea cup. “I never thought Mid-Childan tea can be this tasty.”

“Please have some more if you like,” Carim said and gestured Sister Scasch to pour more tea into the cup.

“No, please, I think I have it enough,” Hikari politely rejected. “Thank you for the tea again.” Sister Scasch nodded and took the tray back into the kitchen, leaving Hikari with Carim. Hikari glanced at Carim, who was busy talking with one of the Saint Church priestesses and nodded. “Carim-sama.”

Carim turned to the young woman. “Yes, Miss Hikari?”

Hikari smiled. “What do you think of Ani-sama?”

The Head Priestess blushed. Hikari giggled at her reaction and merely moved a bit so that she was sitting closer to Carim. “What does that reaction supposed to mean, hmm?” she teased.

“Why are you asking a question on Hikki in a sudden?” Carim murmured.

“Because I want to know how you feel towards Ani-sama,” Hikari replied. “And from my knowledge, Ani-sama seems to admire the Head Priestess of Saint Church.”

“So… so that’s it,” Carim spoke and laughed in silly manner. “I’m sorry. I thought you’d ask questions on… our relationship.”

Hikari laughed. “No, no. Ani-sama isn’t the kind of man who would go after a charming woman like you.” Carim blushed for the second time and tried reasoning herself to Hikari. The shrine maiden merely smiled and reached for her hands, gently caressing them. “Say, while we’re at it, how did you first meet Ani-sama?”

Carim smiled at the question. “You surely want to know a lot about your brother, right?”

Hikari giggled. “It can’t be helped, can it?”

Carim took a deep breath. Then, as she clenched Hikari’s hands in return, she spoke: “It was a cold and snowy day… and he was wavering in the park alone.”

Hikari laughed in silly manner. “Did I ever go to that park?” she pondered with a twisted look on her face. “Ah, alright then. What did Ani-sama do back there?”

“I was heading towards the cathedral when I stumbled upon him,” Carim said. “He was lonely. When I asked him what he was doing in the cathedral’s park, he avoided me… like he was trying to hide something.”

“Did he say anything back then?”

Carim shook her head. “At first it was hard having conversation with him, because he was constantly calling these names…”

“Ah, yes,” Hikari pondered. “I remembered now. I ran away from the hospital and had nowhere to go. It was at the end of Christmas season, and everybody didn’t know where I was going. I had totally forgotten that day.”

“Miss Hikari?”

Hikari was startled. “Y…yes, Carim-sama?”

“Your brother wasn’t an anti-social like I first thought,” Carim told her. “I learned that he didn’t want to talk of the Siberian Incident. I understood him, because it was too personal for him.”

“That’s… right, isn’t it?” Hikari slightly frowned. “I never wanted to talk of that incident ever. It brought nothing but painful memories.”

“But then, your brother was a good-hearted person,” Carim continued. “Even though he was pained, he still had the time to talk of his hobby. And you know what? He was quite a humorous man, too.” Hikari said nothing, and Carim noticed what was bothering the shrine maiden. “What’s the matter, Miss Hikari?”

“Iie. Nande mo nai.” Hikari shook her head and tried smiling to the Head Priestess. “I’m sure Ani-sama cherished the time he shared with you, didn’t he?”

Carim nodded. “Yes. I’m sure of it.”

Dr. Mikail Adams: This is the wind of fate those bureaucratic fools have denied themselves.

Skane: The thousand armies of the Imperial Belka descend upon you infidels!

The strength of one's will to protect shall be put to the test.

We flash through a sequence of burning wrecks, the Riot 6 clerks lay strewn about like rag dolls as Lutecia strides over them, Vice firing shots, before we cut to the roof where Nanoha jumps into Fate's arms.

Nanoha: (crying) Vivio ga... Vivio ga...!



We flicker through the wounded seniors holding their ground against the Extended Relic Weapons.

Kha: (injured and bloodied) Teme...



Hiro whirls and cleaves a Type-I with Zero.

Griffith: Ore no...!

The boy then fades to Exia doing the same to a walking turret, the battleroid Type-VI.

Master Wodan: (arms folded) Master Grade.



Paladin Anderson watches the sensor screens with intrigue.

Anderson: They represent the power of Seiou...



Foy and Valkyrie unisons, then the boy conjures a hammer of gold energy in his hand and smashes it on a Type-4. As the Type-4 crumples, it morphs to the tank-like Type-7. The hammer fades to the hulking barrel of Virtue. Virtue flies backward and throws a backhand into a Type-6, sending it tumbling away. Once cleared of mobs, Virtue began pouring Licht into its massive barrels.

Foy: He he! Which one of you is next?!

And Foy released.

It is not just the battle for Midchilda.

Gimmy blugeons and bashes with his Gale and Night tonfas, then docks them together, charging Divine Buster. We then cut to Dynames thrustering over AA batteries, dodging tracers while replying with bursts of Leutendes Licht from the Night's Gale cannon. The batteries explode.

Gimmy: We are TSAB's only hope.



Out of the smoke, Amuro leaps, his shouldered rifle, the R78, spitting beamfire into a surprised Type-II, then stabbing into another with the Gotteliches Bayonet. Overhead, Kyrios shrieks in full afterburner, carpet-bombing with Siegels von Righteousness.

Amuro: If we are TSAB's only hope, then Ordered Space is pretty much doomed...



We see Carim sitting anxiously behind her desk, Chrono squirming in his seat as the fleet fought its way out of an artificial gravity well, Captain Sumire wearing a grim look on her face, and finally a shot of smirking Illya.

Illya: Things are about to change.



Exia floating on its G-Fin comes into view, and it fades into its cockpit.

Hiro: This is not what you think it is.

It is the time to part the curtain of dreams and face reality...

But since I feel like telling you, my examples go to the far end, which are SS-level attacks and above (Zest and Reinforce), which ARE capable of dealing enough damage to hurt the UDs. And now you say, why would I just take into account SS-level and above? Because of the OCverse. You probably are trying to deny everything, but Kha in particular is going up against rank X enemies (I know, WTF, and I think its stupid too, but dont ask me, I'm not the one creating such enemies), and not only one, DOZENS.

So again, I do wonder what exactly you're disagreeing with, since you yourself are saying it: UDs can be damaged.

And this is not a proposal. I'm just stating the obvious.

Perhaps, but canon repeatedly insinuates and pounds home that close combat was where Belka really excelled. Just as Mid magic can produce a fairly decent melee fighter (Fate) yes Belka can produce a decent nuker (Hayate), but the overall style and character of the systems is still (IMO) clearly indicated to favor close combat and as such one would expect nearly defining element of that system (UDs) to show that off. Clearly ID (one of the defining elements of Mid magic) do, with nearly all being geared toward shooting to various degrees so one would think that a UD would likewise enhance and flow with the Belkan systems noticeable melee bent.

Eh, dude, you sound as if I dont know anything. I never said Belka was not about melee. Want to know why I never explicitly said that Belka favors melee combat? Because that is OBVIOUS. I'm sorry, but I just dont say what everyone knows already. And I never said that UDs do not enhance melee combat. All I did was to argue the damage part, which I explained again above.

Yeah, Gimmy's original devices (before I used Gale Paru) was a homage to one of the most epic writers we have. And Nighty was the one who reminded me why haven't I done a Blade Tonfa homage... So, here's the Knight who once trained under Schach and wields the twin forces of Night and Gale.

Gale Paru sux as a name, I'll just stick to Night's Gale.

The original phrase I believe is "Ore no Gundam ga" and should be translated as "This is my Gundam." So that's how I reverse-engineered the matching line "This is not what you think it is."

However, I was somehow fearful about Hiro saying "Gundam" in a Nanoha forum, so I swapped it to Destiny.

“True, true,” Hayate added. “Besides, wasn’t Riot Force 6 in charge of this cosplay party?”

“With all due respect, Missus Hayate,” Armstrong spoke. “The Wind Talkers have been entrusted by the administrative office to supervise this event. Besides, why are you so excited about this… party?”

“Because I’ve wanted to have a massive cosplay party like this, Ojiichan,” Hayate replied. “And you, Ojiichan, are not going to look for an excuse to avoid this occasion. Wakatta?”

“Even if you say so, Hayate-chan,” Fate spoke. “I don’t think Ojiichan needs any cosplay dress.”

“Why not?” Hayate retorted and pointed to Armstrong’s face. “With that plain uniform, Ojiichan looks so lame he’s going to ruin the-” She stopped talking when Armstrong gave her the killer look, and fainted on the spot without even saying anything.

“Did Ojiichan do something to her?” Nanoha asked.

“I don’t think so,” Keroko answered and approached the blissful Hayate.

“Truly, the power of manliness affects even the Mistress of Cosplay!” Zafira hollered before he ran away from Vita and Signum. “REAL MEN DO NOT NEED COSPLAYS! REAL MEN ARE COSPLAYS!”

Armstrong ignored the Aces and the Wolkenritter. “Whatever they want to,” he shrugged and headed towards the Admirals, yet he found himself followed by an ocean of female staffs and trainees (who included Alexandra, Ginga and Fuuko). He stopped, turned around, and headed back towards the Aces; the followers did the same and pursued him wherever he went.

“This is getting too annoying…”

He stopped. He turned towards the women. With the loudest voice he could muster, he screamed: “WHAT DO YOU LADIES WANT FROM ME??”

The women swooned. “Armstrong is so manly when he’s angry…” they sighed.

“Che. I must get myself cured quickly,” Armstrong growled and headed towards the door when he heard his name called out loud. “Isn’t that…”

“Yo! Old man!”

As soon as he turned around, Kitaro jumped onto his head and made various post-battle poses. “Kitaro the Invincible One reporting for duty!” the mechanical rabbit hollered.

“Kitaro? So does that mean…”

“That is true!” Kitaro shouted aloud and made a super sentai pose. “The great Shintaro Takeshi is here! Fear the Zatoichi!” The rabbit continued its antics and impressed the women with its one-man performance.

“I see that the Sword That Cleaves Evil has gained his old look,” Takeshi commented as he approached Armstrong from the behind.

“I find your lax reaction disturbing, Takeshi,” Armstrong murmured.

The blind swordsman chuckled. “I knew someday you’d regain this form,” he replied. “But don’t worry. I will do nothing to provoke your anger.”

“Do as you wish.”

Armstrong took Kitaro off his head, gave it to Takeshi and walked out of the hall. The women moaned in dismay at his departure, and Kitaro scratched its head in confusion at Armstrong’s attitude. “What’s up with that?” the rabbit asked.

“Thank you for the meal,” Hikari sighed in relief and put down the tea cup. “I never thought Mid-Childan tea can be this tasty.”

“Please have some more if you like,” Carim said and gestured Sister Scasch to pour more tea into the cup.

“No, please, I think I have it enough,” Hikari politely rejected. “Thank you for the tea again.” Sister Scasch nodded and took the tray back into the kitchen, leaving Hikari with Carim. Hikari glanced at Carim, who was busy talking with one of the Saint Church priestesses and nodded. “Carim-sama.”

Carim turned to the young woman. “Yes, Miss Hikari?”

Hikari smiled. “What do you think of Ani-sama?”

The Head Priestess blushed. Hikari giggled at her reaction and merely moved a bit so that she was sitting closer to Carim. “What does that reaction supposed to mean, hmm?” she teased.

“Why are you asking a question on Hikki in a sudden?” Carim murmured.

“Because I want to know how you feel towards Ani-sama,” Hikari replied. “And from my knowledge, Ani-sama seems to admire the Head Priestess of Saint Church.”

“So… so that’s it,” Carim spoke and laughed in silly manner. “I’m sorry. I thought you’d ask questions on… our relationship.”

Hikari laughed. “No, no. Ani-sama isn’t the kind of man who would go after a charming woman like you.” Carim blushed for the second time and tried reasoning herself to Hikari. The shrine maiden merely smiled and reached for her hands, gently caressing them. “Say, while we’re at it, how did you first meet Ani-sama?”

Carim smiled at the question. “You surely want to know a lot about your brother, right?”

Hikari giggled. “It can’t be helped, can it?”

Carim took a deep breath. Then, as she clenched Hikari’s hands in return, she spoke: “It was a cold and snowy day… and he was wavering in the park alone.”

Hikari laughed in silly manner. “Did I ever go to that park?” she pondered with a twisted look on her face. “Ah, alright then. What did Ani-sama do back there?”

“I was heading towards the cathedral when I stumbled upon him,” Carim said. “He was lonely. When I asked him what he was doing in the cathedral’s park, he avoided me… like he was trying to hide something.”

“Did he say anything back then?”

Carim shook her head. “At first it was hard having conversation with him, because he was constantly calling these names…”

“Ah, yes,” Hikari pondered. “I remembered now. I ran away from the hospital and had nowhere to go. It was at the end of Christmas season, and everybody didn’t know where I was going. I had totally forgotten that day.”

“Miss Hikari?”

Hikari was startled. “Y…yes, Carim-sama?”

“Your brother wasn’t an anti-social like I first thought,” Carim told her. “I learned that he didn’t want to talk of the Siberian Incident. I understood him, because it was too personal for him.”

“That’s… right, isn’t it?” Hikari slightly frowned. “I never wanted to talk of that incident ever. It brought nothing but painful memories.”

“But then, your brother was a good-hearted person,” Carim continued. “Even though he was pained, he still had the time to talk of his hobby. And you know what? He was quite a humorous man, too.” Hikari said nothing, and Carim noticed what was bothering the shrine maiden. “What’s the matter, Miss Hikari?”

“Iie. Nande mo nai.” Hikari shook her head and tried smiling to the Head Priestess. “I’m sure Ani-sama cherished the time he shared with you, didn’t he?”

Carim nodded. “Yes. I’m sure of it.”

Spoiler for part 3:

It was late afternoon. Everybody was taking a break from their works and returned to their stations. The same went to Riot Force 6, as they returned to their office to discuss their planned activities for the cosplay party.

They, however, had a major plan to do that day.

And their ‘secret agent’ of choice was Vivio, as she was sent back to the hall where Hikari was still having conversations with Carim and Scasch. “Remember, Vivio-chan, your objective is to make Hikari change her clothes,” Fate instructed via intercom.

“But Fate-mama, why would I do that to Hikari-oneechan? She didn’t do anything wrong, did she?” Vivio replied.

“Do it; it’s an order from your mother,” Fate replied. “Besides, she wouldn’t suspect anything if it’s you.”

Vivio had no idea what her adoptive mother was talking of. She shrugged and approached Hikari with a glass of orange juice in her hands. “Hikari-oneechan,” she called her name and suddenly tripped. The orange juice spilled over the shrine maiden’s dress, and Hikari did not see it coming until she was drenched all over.

“Aw! My precious silk dress!” Hikari moaned. “Look at what you’ve done! Do you have any idea of how expensive this dress is?”

“It wasn’t my intention!” Vivio retorted. “Fate-mama and everybody else asked me to do it!”

(Back at their office, Fate twitched due to heart seizure. “Vivio-chan! Don’t leak out the information!”)

“Damn it, Fate. You just want to expose the secret, don’t you?” Hikari suddenly cried and was covering her face beneath the flamboyant sleeves. “How cruel… my precious dress… Ani-sama has struggled to buy this for me, and yet… and yet…” She continued crying as Vivio helplessly apologized for her carelessness. “How could Fate-sama do this to me?”

(The Aces cringed. “Even though it’s only cross-dress, Hikari looks so cute when she cries…” they murmured.)

“Ara, what’s wrong here?” Hikari stopped crying and saw Shamal walking towards her with the likes of Reinforce Zwei. “I thought I could meet Hikki’s little sister here.”

“Sou desu!” Reinforce Zwei. “I am Reinforce desu! This is Shamal desu! Pleased to meet you desu!”

“Shamal-sama… Reinforce-sama…” Hikari cried again. “Fate-sama made Vivio do this to my dress… this is the only dress I have now… what must I do?”

“I’m sorry…” Vivio mumbled.

“What are they up to this time?” she sighed and took hold of Hikari’s hands.. “It’s just your dress getting dirty. Why don’t we go to my room? I can lend you some of the dresses there.”

“Really? Thank you, Shamal-sama. I don’t know how to pay back the gratitude,” she murmured.

Spoiler for inside Shamal's medical office:

Hikari was awed.

She never thought Shamal’s dress collection would fill an entire cabinet (make that five, she corrected, since the room was practically full of closets). She was uncertain, not because she knew she would be asked to wear one of those dresses, but because she could not choose which dress would suit her.

“Well,” Shamal said as she closed the curtains. “I’m sure you’ll love the dresses.”

“Thank you, Shamal-sama, but truth to be told,” Hikari said and shyly fiddled with her fingers. “I’m not used to cosplay. Even though Ani-sama taught me a lot on his hobby, cosplaying is not my type of pastime.”

“Eh? That’s quite a surprise,” Shamal teased and helped Hikari undressing herself. “You want to know a secret Hikki told me? He once told me he always gains freedom whenever he cosplays as a female character, and frankly speaking I agree with him.”

“Ani-sama told you of that?” Hikari replied.

Shamal giggled and took off Hikari’s hairpins. “Yes, he did.”

Hikari was fully undressed. She looked at her body figure in the mirror. Her black hair that was tied in bunches was now flowing freely down her head, neatly covering some part of her upper body. The ruby eyes were shining in natural way, complementing the lovely structure of her face. She was nervous for many good reasons: she never actually saw her body in its most natural form despite her frequent cross-dressing occasions. She blushed to know how beautiful she would turn to be.

(Back at the office, the Aces were now burning in jealously. “I hate to say this, but Hikari is more beautiful than the four of us,” Fate murmured.

“And Shamal doesn’t even know the horrible truth,” Hayate added.)

“I never thought Hikki’s little sister looks this beautiful,” Shamal spoke in admiration and encircled her arms around her shoulders. “Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone else about this,” gently she whispered into her ear.

Hikari gasped. “Shamal-sama?”

The Wolkenritter chuckled and kept her embrace tight for a long time. “It’s just between us. After all, we’re women, right?”

Hikari blushed. “Y…yes, you’re right.”

“Well, then.” Shamal finally let go off her and approached one of the closets to take out several costumes. “I figured out that you’re into shrine maiden stuffs, so I have some of the more… extravagant dresses here.”

“Shamal-sama, actually…” Hikari was shyly giggling as she covered her body with Shamal’s medical coat. “I had been looking forward to wear maid uniform. And a pair of cat-ears and eyeglasses wouldn’t hurt, would they?”

“Ara, just now you said you’re not into cosplay,” Shamal teased.

Hikari giggled. “Gomennasai.”

Spoiler for ten minutes later, at the main hall:

Everybody was smitten.

They had hoped that their eyes were lying to them, yet they could not.

Hikari, the Priestess of Magnolia Temple, sister of Gale Whistler Hikki, was standing in front of them not as a shrine maiden but as an eyeglasses- and cat’s ears-totting maid. They were questioning themselves on whether the cosplay was something Shamal had planned ever since Hikari arrived or it was a mutual agreement between the two women.

“I never thought Hikki-kun’s Imotou would look this good in this cosplay,” a female officer uttered.

“It must be their shared bloodline,” her colleague commented. “Besides, if Hikari-chan instead of Hikki-kun joined the bureau, she would still certainly cosplay for us.”

The two officers stared at Hikari. Realizing she was being watched, Hikari hid her flushed face behind the tray she was asked to carry around. “Stop staring at me,” she murmured. “You’re making me embarrassed.”

“So… so cute…” the gulped.

“Hikari-chan moe!!!!!” male officers roared in approval and cried touched tears. “We don’t care if it’s Hikki or Hikari! The fact that the Kokurabuji Siblings are natural-born cosplayers makes everything look so damn perfect!”

“Banzai! Hikari-chan banzai!” the rest of the men cheered.

Hikari blushed even more than before. “Why… am I being praised?” she asked.

“BECAUSE YOU ARE THE GODDESS OF COSPLAY!!!!” all men shouted in unison.

“Hikari-chan should be proud to have an understanding brother!” all women cheered.

Hikari lowered the tray that had been hiding her face. With a shy smile carved upon her face, she giggled. “Arigatou, minna-sama.” Again, they were smitten by the fact that they were seeing Hikari in shining bubbles and glittering sparkles.

(“Why can’t we ever beat Hikki this time?” Fate murmured and cried depressed tears.

“It’s no use now,” Nanoha said and patted Fate’s shoulder; she, too, was crying routed tears. “Even if we get to reveal his devious scheme, he will still outwit us.”

Hayate was kneeling in complete defeat. “I have been defeated by Hikki’s superior cosplay skill,” she spoke, and was shone by a spotlight from above.

Keroko, on the other hand, was awed by Hikari’s cuteness. “So cute… I can’t believe he’d look so cute…” She shook her head in denial. “What am I talking of? He’s just cross-dressing!”)

Armstrong said nothing. He simply looked at the congregation, shook his head in amusement and left them. “Not the kind of event I want to see before the party,” he told himself and grinned. “But I wonder if he really is going to cherish the memory he’s forging right now.”

He stopped. He looked back at Hikari. “Maybe.”

The party hasn't even started,. and yet Hikki Hikari-

Remember how last time, I said that Arcas would be getting a massive brain fart due to indecision about what to do regarding his revenge on the Aces?

Well, he wouldn't be anymore.

Right now, he (if he discovers who Hikari REALLY is) would be trying to kick the crap out of Hikki - "for taking this WAAY too far."

Meaning: Arcas doesn't mind a little payback on the Aces here and there, to remind them that THEY'RE not the ones in charge all the time, but nothing more. He'd view what Hikki's doing as excessive: not just putting them back in their place, but actively punishing them.

So be warned - if Arcas: 1 - finds out Hikari's true ID; and 2 - finds out what he's been doing to the Aces, Arcas will take the side of the Aces - "the fact that he's a fellow man be damned."

From what I remember of Hikki's 1st incarnation, he was MUCH more powerful than any of the GG cast... but he was strictly-battle only.

Translation: He'd take on an enemy (or group) that almost NO ONE (save the Badguy himself) would have a chance @ defeating, and win, but take massive damage in the fight, and have to spend the time between fight scenes recovering...only to be fully recovered by the next major battle.

Okay - time for exposition.

Hopefully, the ones for Alexandria, Annabelle/Allison, and the Three Canon Aces make sense - the Onii-chan archetype comes rather easily to Arcas, and therefore, is capable of seeing most girls younger than himself as "his imouto" - Vita's an exception because he knows Vita can take care of herself.

Alright, now for the last 3.

Caro: Arcas is very invested in Caro's future - he feels like that although she has the "family" of MD6, he was the first person in her life that truly cared for her, and that does not absolve him of his responsibility. In a way, Arcas plays not just Caro's Onii-chan, but her Otou-san as well, in the fact that he tries to drive the boys away (usually with Apalis) to find one that's willing to stand against him for Caro's love...which he is beginning to believe of Erio...

Sophia: This is probably the REAL shocker. But, events during LegendS, as well as Sophia's similarity to Caro, will contribute to this. Like Caro, Sophia's grown up without a proper family. She does have the 21st, as well as at least half a dozen guys looking out for her - but Arcas still worries for Sophia. And, the fact that she's a grown girl can make it hard for him to remember that she's supposed to be "his little sister..."

Keroko: Out of all the Aces, Arcas has the strongest connection with Keroko - he spent 6 months with Rogue Squadron officially, and another 8-10 unofficially (when he was serving @ the Far Spinward Station; see my post in page 613 for more exposition). During that time, Arcas became rather close with Keroko (especially after an incident where they ended up saving each other's lives), and to this day, he still remains close to "his captain." (See my short for Keroko-chan day on page 534) As you'll see in the short which continues the Keroko-chan storyline, Arcas can get VERY violent and jealous over people who try to, in his words, "defame my captain." Although, despite his pledge to remain faithful to Mel, he has caught himself a few times thinking about Keroko... in ways he shouldn't be.

Note: He justifies his wavering attraction to Keroko by saying that she's his former captain - similar to Tamaki's justification about how he's Haruhi's "father" in Ouran...

I guess whenever it comes to serious discussions that lay within the gray areas without the help of the (bloody!) canon can become rather heated, and almost anything within the realm of logical rationale can be accepted as the "correct" description of a particular issue. It doesn't matter whether it's UD or ID, it's the same for other things.

Even though I can't say that I'm a old-timer in this thread, I do know that none of them actually mean anything nasty. It's just that they have their particular stand/view on the matter, and it really is difficult to say otherwise unless there is canonical proof that it is so, which basically eliminate the point of the discussion at all.

Misunderstanding does happen without it, and tempers may flare, but it's just on the issue, not the person. Don't take it to heart.

Everybody was busy preparing the main hall for the upcoming party. All groups and all factions were taking part in all sorts of works. The Riot Force 6 and the Wind Talkers were the busiest, as they chased the tight schedule to make sure the programme would run smoothly while at the same time preparing for the occasion. In spite of their work, they still managed to get a glance to Hikari, who was at the moment having conversations with Carim and Letti while accompanied by several female staffs put under the spell of the Kokurabuji Priestess’ charm.

“We have to do something,” Nanoha murmured and put down the box she was carrying.

Fate nodded. “Sooner or later, Hikari… Hikki will go over the line,” she murmured. “We must fight back. Somehow.” Keroko and Hayate nodded in unison, their murderous eyes were glued on Hikari.

Meanwhile, Armstrong was seen briefing his Wind Talker personnel on the guests’ attendance. “We have the list done here,” he spoke s and handed over copies of the guest list. “I want each and every one of you to read this list thoroughly. Am I clear?”

“Yes, sir.”

“That is all. You are dismissed.”

The Wind Talkers saluted Armstrong and moved to perform their duty. Armstrong left them with their works and approached the awaiting Aces. “Ladies, if you have nothing else to do, I suggest you to get your body working and help with the preparations,” he spoke.

“Ojiichan is so cruel,” Nanoha mumbled. “He doesn’t have to push around like he’s in charge of this party or something.”

“True, true,” Hayate added. “Besides, wasn’t Riot Force 6 in charge of this cosplay party?”

“With all due respect, Missus Hayate,” Armstrong spoke. “The Wind Talkers have been entrusted by the administrative office to supervise this event. Besides, why are you so excited about this… party?”

“Because I’ve wanted to have a massive cosplay party like this, Ojiichan,” Hayate replied. “And you, Ojiichan, are not going to look for an excuse to avoid this occasion. Wakatta?”

“Even if you say so, Hayate-chan,” Fate spoke. “I don’t think Ojiichan needs any cosplay dress.”

“Why not?” Hayate retorted and pointed to Armstrong’s face. “With that plain uniform, Ojiichan looks so lame he’s going to ruin the-” She stopped talking when Armstrong gave her the killer look, and fainted on the spot without even saying anything.

“Did Ojiichan do something to her?” Nanoha asked.

“I don’t think so,” Keroko answered and approached the blissful Hayate.

“Truly, the power of manliness affects even the Mistress of Cosplay!” Zafira hollered before he ran away from Vita and Signum. “REAL MEN DO NOT NEED COSPLAYS! REAL MEN ARE COSPLAYS!”

Armstrong ignored the Aces and the Wolkenritter. “Whatever they want to,” he shrugged and headed towards the Admirals, yet he found himself followed by an ocean of female staffs and trainees (who included Alexandra, Ginga and Fuuko). He stopped, turned around, and headed back towards the Aces; the followers did the same and pursued him wherever he went.

“This is getting too annoying…”

He stopped. He turned towards the women. With the loudest voice he could muster, he screamed: “WHAT DO YOU LADIES WANT FROM ME??”

The women swooned. “Armstrong is so manly when he’s angry…” they sighed.

“Che. I must get myself cured quickly,” Armstrong growled and headed towards the door when he heard his name called out loud. “Isn’t that…”

“Yo! Old man!”

As soon as he turned around, Kitaro jumped onto his head and made various post-battle poses. “Kitaro the Invincible One reporting for duty!” the mechanical rabbit hollered.

“Kitaro? So does that mean…”

“That is true!” Kitaro shouted aloud and made a super sentai pose. “The great Shintaro Takeshi is here! Fear the Zatoichi!” The rabbit continued its antics and impressed the women with its one-man performance.

“I see that the Sword That Cleaves Evil has gained his old look,” Takeshi commented as he approached Armstrong from the behind.

“I find your lax reaction disturbing, Takeshi,” Armstrong murmured.

The blind swordsman chuckled. “I knew someday you’d regain this form,” he replied. “But don’t worry. I will do nothing to provoke your anger.”

“Do as you wish.”

Armstrong took Kitaro off his head, gave it to Takeshi and walked out of the hall. The women moaned in dismay at his departure, and Kitaro scratched its head in confusion at Armstrong’s attitude. “What’s up with that?” the rabbit asked.

“Thank you for the meal,” Hikari sighed in relief and put down the tea cup. “I never thought Mid-Childan tea can be this tasty.”

“Please have some more if you like,” Carim said and gestured Sister Scasch to pour more tea into the cup.

“No, please, I think I have it enough,” Hikari politely rejected. “Thank you for the tea again.” Sister Scasch nodded and took the tray back into the kitchen, leaving Hikari with Carim. Hikari glanced at Carim, who was busy talking with one of the Saint Church priestesses and nodded. “Carim-sama.”

Carim turned to the young woman. “Yes, Miss Hikari?”

Hikari smiled. “What do you think of Ani-sama?”

The Head Priestess blushed. Hikari giggled at her reaction and merely moved a bit so that she was sitting closer to Carim. “What does that reaction supposed to mean, hmm?” she teased.

“Why are you asking a question on Hikki in a sudden?” Carim murmured.

“Because I want to know how you feel towards Ani-sama,” Hikari replied. “And from my knowledge, Ani-sama seems to admire the Head Priestess of Saint Church.”

“So… so that’s it,” Carim spoke and laughed in silly manner. “I’m sorry. I thought you’d ask questions on… our relationship.”

Hikari laughed. “No, no. Ani-sama isn’t the kind of man who would go after a charming woman like you.” Carim blushed for the second time and tried reasoning herself to Hikari. The shrine maiden merely smiled and reached for her hands, gently caressing them. “Say, while we’re at it, how did you first meet Ani-sama?”

Carim smiled at the question. “You surely want to know a lot about your brother, right?”

Hikari giggled. “It can’t be helped, can it?”

Carim took a deep breath. Then, as she clenched Hikari’s hands in return, she spoke: “It was a cold and snowy day… and he was wavering in the park alone.”

Hikari laughed in silly manner. “Did I ever go to that park?” she pondered with a twisted look on her face. “Ah, alright then. What did Ani-sama do back there?”

“I was heading towards the cathedral when I stumbled upon him,” Carim said. “He was lonely. When I asked him what he was doing in the cathedral’s park, he avoided me… like he was trying to hide something.”

“Did he say anything back then?”

Carim shook her head. “At first it was hard having conversation with him, because he was constantly calling these names…”

“Ah, yes,” Hikari pondered. “I remembered now. I ran away from the hospital and had nowhere to go. It was at the end of Christmas season, and everybody didn’t know where I was going. I had totally forgotten that day.”

“Miss Hikari?”

Hikari was startled. “Y…yes, Carim-sama?”

“Your brother wasn’t an anti-social like I first thought,” Carim told her. “I learned that he didn’t want to talk of the Siberian Incident. I understood him, because it was too personal for him.”

“That’s… right, isn’t it?” Hikari slightly frowned. “I never wanted to talk of that incident ever. It brought nothing but painful memories.”

“But then, your brother was a good-hearted person,” Carim continued. “Even though he was pained, he still had the time to talk of his hobby. And you know what? He was quite a humorous man, too.” Hikari said nothing, and Carim noticed what was bothering the shrine maiden. “What’s the matter, Miss Hikari?”

“Iie. Nande mo nai.” Hikari shook her head and tried smiling to the Head Priestess. “I’m sure Ani-sama cherished the time he shared with you, didn’t he?”

Carim nodded. “Yes. I’m sure of it.”

It was late afternoon. Everybody was taking a break from their works and returned to their stations. The same went to Riot Force 6, as they returned to their office to discuss their planned activities for the cosplay party.

They, however, had a major plan to do that day.

And their ‘secret agent’ of choice was Vivio, as she was sent back to the hall where Hikari was still having conversations with Carim and Scasch. “Remember, Vivio-chan, your objective is to make Hikari change her clothes,” Fate instructed via intercom.

“But Fate-mama, why would I do that to Hikari-oneechan? She didn’t do anything wrong, did she?” Vivio replied.

“Do it; it’s an order from your mother,” Fate replied. “Besides, she wouldn’t suspect anything if it’s you.”

Vivio had no idea what her adoptive mother was talking of. She shrugged and approached Hikari with a glass of orange juice in her hands. “Hikari-oneechan,” she called her name and suddenly tripped. The orange juice spilled over the shrine maiden’s dress, and Hikari did not see it coming until she was drenched all over.

“Aw! My precious silk dress!” Hikari moaned. “Look at what you’ve done! Do you have any idea of how expensive this dress is?”

“It wasn’t my intention!” Vivio retorted. “Fate-mama and everybody else asked me to do it!”

(Back at their office, Fate twitched due to heart seizure. “Vivio-chan! Don’t leak out the information!”)

“Damn it, Fate. You just want to expose the secret, don’t you?” Hikari suddenly cried and was covering her face beneath the flamboyant sleeves. “How cruel… my precious dress… Ani-sama has struggled to buy this for me, and yet… and yet…” She continued crying as Vivio helplessly apologized for her carelessness. “How could Fate-sama do this to me?”

(The Aces cringed. “Even though it’s only cross-dress, Hikari looks so cute when she cries…” they murmured.)

“Ara, what’s wrong here?” Hikari stopped crying and saw Shamal walking towards her with the likes of Reinforce Zwei. “I thought I could meet Hikki’s little sister here.”

“Sou desu!” Reinforce Zwei. “I am Reinforce desu! This is Shamal desu! Pleased to meet you desu!”

“Shamal-sama… Reinforce-sama…” Hikari cried again. “Fate-sama made Vivio do this to my dress… this is the only dress I have now… what must I do?”

“I’m sorry…” Vivio mumbled.

“What are they up to this time?” she sighed and took hold of Hikari’s hands.. “It’s just your dress getting dirty. Why don’t we go to my room? I can lend you some of the dresses there.”

“Really? Thank you, Shamal-sama. I don’t know how to pay back the gratitude,” she murmured.

Spoiler for inside Shamal's medical office:

Hikari was awed.

She never thought Shamal’s dress collection would fill an entire cabinet (make that five, she corrected, since the room was practically full of closets). She was uncertain, not because she knew she would be asked to wear one of those dresses, but because she could not choose which dress would suit her.

“Well,” Shamal said as she closed the curtains. “I’m sure you’ll love the dresses.”

“Thank you, Shamal-sama, but truth to be told,” Hikari said and shyly fiddled with her fingers. “I’m not used to cosplay. Even though Ani-sama taught me a lot on his hobby, cosplaying is not my type of pastime.”

“Eh? That’s quite a surprise,” Shamal teased and helped Hikari undressing herself. “You want to know a secret Hikki told me? He once told me he always gains freedom whenever he cosplays as a female character, and frankly speaking I agree with him.”

“Ani-sama told you of that?” Hikari replied.

Shamal giggled and took off Hikari’s hairpins. “Yes, he did.”

Hikari was fully undressed. She looked at her body figure in the mirror. Her black hair that was tied in bunches was now flowing freely down her head, neatly covering some part of her upper body. The ruby eyes were shining in natural way, complementing the lovely structure of her face. She was nervous for many good reasons: she never actually saw her body in its most natural form despite her frequent cross-dressing occasions. She blushed to know how beautiful she would turn to be.

(Back at the office, the Aces were now burning in jealously. “I hate to say this, but Hikari is more beautiful than the four of us,” Fate murmured.

“And Shamal doesn’t even know the horrible truth,” Hayate added.)

“I never thought Hikki’s little sister looks this beautiful,” Shamal spoke in admiration and encircled her arms around her shoulders. “Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone else about this,” gently she whispered into her ear.

Hikari gasped. “Shamal-sama?”

The Wolkenritter chuckled and kept her embrace tight for a long time. “It’s just between us. After all, we’re women, right?”

Hikari blushed. “Y…yes, you’re right.”

“Well, then.” Shamal finally let go off her and approached one of the closets to take out several costumes. “I figured out that you’re into shrine maiden stuffs, so I have some of the more… extravagant dresses here.”

“Shamal-sama, actually…” Hikari was shyly giggling as she covered her body with Shamal’s medical coat. “I had been looking forward to wear maid uniform. And a pair of cat-ears and eyeglasses wouldn’t hurt, would they?”

“Ara, just now you said you’re not into cosplay,” Shamal teased.

Hikari giggled. “Gomennasai.”

Spoiler for ten minutes later, at the main hall:

Everybody was smitten.

They had hoped that their eyes were lying to them, yet they could not.

Hikari, the Priestess of Magnolia Temple, sister of Gale Whistler Hikki, was standing in front of them not as a shrine maiden but as an eyeglasses- and cat’s ears-totting maid. They were questioning themselves on whether the cosplay was something Shamal had planned ever since Hikari arrived or it was a mutual agreement between the two women.

“I never thought Hikki-kun’s Imotou would look this good in this cosplay,” a female officer uttered.

“It must be their shared bloodline,” her colleague commented. “Besides, if Hikari-chan instead of Hikki-kun joined the bureau, she would still certainly cosplay for us.”

The two officers stared at Hikari. Realizing she was being watched, Hikari hid her flushed face behind the tray she was asked to carry around. “Stop staring at me,” she murmured. “You’re making me embarrassed.”

“So… so cute…” the gulped.

“Hikari-chan moe!!!!!” male officers roared in approval and cried touched tears. “We don’t care if it’s Hikki or Hikari! The fact that the Kokurabuji Siblings are natural-born cosplayers makes everything look so damn perfect!”

“Banzai! Hikari-chan banzai!” the rest of the men cheered.

Hikari blushed even more than before. “Why… am I being praised?” she asked.

“BECAUSE YOU ARE THE GODDESS OF COSPLAY!!!!” all men shouted in unison.

“Hikari-chan should be proud to have an understanding brother!” all women cheered.

Hikari lowered the tray that had been hiding her face. With a shy smile carved upon her face, she giggled. “Arigatou, minna-sama.” Again, they were smitten by the fact that they were seeing Hikari in shining bubbles and glittering sparkles.

(“Why can’t we ever beat Hikki this time?” Fate murmured and cried depressed tears.

“It’s no use now,” Nanoha said and patted Fate’s shoulder; she, too, was crying routed tears. “Even if we get to reveal his devious scheme, he will still outwit us.”

Hayate was kneeling in complete defeat. “I have been defeated by Hikki’s superior cosplay skill,” she spoke, and was shone by a spotlight from above.

Keroko, on the other hand, was awed by Hikari’s cuteness. “So cute… I can’t believe he’d look so cute…” She shook her head in denial. “What am I talking of? He’s just cross-dressing!”)

Armstrong said nothing. He simply looked at the congregation, shook his head in amusement and left them. “Not the kind of event I want to see before the party,” he told himself and grinned. “But I wonder if he really is going to cherish the memory he’s forging right now.”

He stopped. He looked back at Hikari. “Maybe.”

As if on a cue a barrier strong enough to contain the colliding forces settled over the practice field. However...

The Comm window closed as Tsuchigami Shintetsu breathed a sigh of relief and opened the two status windows of the brothers and a view inside the battlefield before vanishing.

More plot, less action...I think the next post is gonna be purely action as we see just how crazy the battle gets with twin Adrenaline Drives colliding.

For a spiral out of the UD/ID discussion, I have several questions that've been nagging me for some time.
1. Where are the Enforcer, Special Investigations, and Air Force Headquarters located? I know Ground Forces are located on Mid-childa itself, and Air Force is probably on the planet as well to protect its skies, but what about the other two?

2. What are the job boundaries of each units? I seem to have read this somewhere, but I forgot where =_=. Ground Forces are related to the land's protection, etc., but I seem to think that it's tied to Special Investigations as well, if it's Lost Logia related. If they clash, which one gains priority (unless it's agreed upon that they cooperate)?

“I don’t think so,” Keroko answered and approached the blissful Hayate.

“Truly, the power of manliness affects even the Mistress of Cosplay!” Zafira hollered before he ran away from Vita and Signum. “REAL MEN DO NOT NEED COSPLAYS! REAL MEN ARE COSPLAYS!”

Armstrong ignored the Aces and the Wolkenritter. “Whatever they want to,” he shrugged and headed towards the Admirals, yet he found himself followed by an ocean of female staffs and trainees (who included Alexandra, Ginga and Fuuko). He stopped, turned around, and headed back towards the Aces; the followers did the same and pursued him wherever he went.

“This is getting too annoying…”

He stopped. He turned towards the women. With the loudest voice he could muster, he screamed: “WHAT DO YOU LADIES WANT FROM ME??”

The women swooned. “Armstrong is so manly when he’s angry…” they sighed.

“Che. I must get myself cured quickly,” Armstrong growled and headed towards the door when he heard his name called out loud. “Isn’t that…”

“Yo! Old man!”

As soon as he turned around, Kitaro jumped onto his head and made various post-battle poses. “Kitaro the Invincible One reporting for duty!” the mechanical rabbit hollered.

“Kitaro? So does that mean…”

“That is true!” Kitaro shouted aloud and made a super sentai pose. “The great Shintaro Takeshi is here! Fear the Zatoichi!” The rabbit continued its antics and impressed the women with its one-man performance.

“I see that the Sword That Cleaves Evil has gained his old look,” Takeshi commented as he approached Armstrong from the behind.

“I find your lax reaction disturbing, Takeshi,” Armstrong murmured.

The blind swordsman chuckled. “I knew someday you’d regain this form,” he replied. “But don’t worry. I will do nothing to provoke your anger.”

“Do as you wish.”

Armstrong took Kitaro off his head, gave it to Takeshi and walked out of the hall. The women moaned in dismay at his departure, and Kitaro scratched its head in confusion at Armstrong’s attitude. “What’s up with that?” the rabbit asked.

Spoiler for part 2:

“Thank you for the meal,” Hikari sighed in relief and put down the tea cup. “I never thought Mid-Childan tea can be this tasty.”

“Please have some more if you like,” Carim said and gestured Sister Scasch to pour more tea into the cup.

“No, please, I think I have it enough,” Hikari politely rejected. “Thank you for the tea again.” Sister Scasch nodded and took the tray back into the kitchen, leaving Hikari with Carim. Hikari glanced at Carim, who was busy talking with one of the Saint Church priestesses and nodded. “Carim-sama.”

Carim turned to the young woman. “Yes, Miss Hikari?”

Hikari smiled. “What do you think of Ani-sama?”

The Head Priestess blushed. Hikari giggled at her reaction and merely moved a bit so that she was sitting closer to Carim. “What does that reaction supposed to mean, hmm?” she teased.

“Why are you asking a question on Hikki in a sudden?” Carim murmured.

“Because I want to know how you feel towards Ani-sama,” Hikari replied. “And from my knowledge, Ani-sama seems to admire the Head Priestess of Saint Church.”

“So… so that’s it,” Carim spoke and laughed in silly manner. “I’m sorry. I thought you’d ask questions on… our relationship.”

Hikari laughed. “No, no. Ani-sama isn’t the kind of man who would go after a charming woman like you.” Carim blushed for the second time and tried reasoning herself to Hikari. The shrine maiden merely smiled and reached for her hands, gently caressing them. “Say, while we’re at it, how did you first meet Ani-sama?”

Carim smiled at the question. “You surely want to know a lot about your brother, right?”

Hikari giggled. “It can’t be helped, can it?”

Carim took a deep breath. Then, as she clenched Hikari’s hands in return, she spoke: “It was a cold and snowy day… and he was wavering in the park alone.”

Hikari laughed in silly manner. “Did I ever go to that park?” she pondered with a twisted look on her face. “Ah, alright then. What did Ani-sama do back there?”

“I was heading towards the cathedral when I stumbled upon him,” Carim said. “He was lonely. When I asked him what he was doing in the cathedral’s park, he avoided me… like he was trying to hide something.”

“Did he say anything back then?”

Carim shook her head. “At first it was hard having conversation with him, because he was constantly calling these names…”

“Ah, yes,” Hikari pondered. “I remembered now. I ran away from the hospital and had nowhere to go. It was at the end of Christmas season, and everybody didn’t know where I was going. I had totally forgotten that day.”

“Miss Hikari?”

Hikari was startled. “Y…yes, Carim-sama?”

“Your brother wasn’t an anti-social like I first thought,” Carim told her. “I learned that he didn’t want to talk of the Siberian Incident. I understood him, because it was too personal for him.”

“That’s… right, isn’t it?” Hikari slightly frowned. “I never wanted to talk of that incident ever. It brought nothing but painful memories.”

“But then, your brother was a good-hearted person,” Carim continued. “Even though he was pained, he still had the time to talk of his hobby. And you know what? He was quite a humorous man, too.” Hikari said nothing, and Carim noticed what was bothering the shrine maiden. “What’s the matter, Miss Hikari?”

“Iie. Nande mo nai.” Hikari shook her head and tried smiling to the Head Priestess. “I’m sure Ani-sama cherished the time he shared with you, didn’t he?”

Carim nodded. “Yes. I’m sure of it.”

Spoiler for part 3:

It was late afternoon. Everybody was taking a break from their works and returned to their stations. The same went to Riot Force 6, as they returned to their office to discuss their planned activities for the cosplay party.

They, however, had a major plan to do that day.

And their ‘secret agent’ of choice was Vivio, as she was sent back to the hall where Hikari was still having conversations with Carim and Scasch. “Remember, Vivio-chan, your objective is to make Hikari change her clothes,” Fate instructed via intercom.

“But Fate-mama, why would I do that to Hikari-oneechan? She didn’t do anything wrong, did she?” Vivio replied.

“Do it; it’s an order from your mother,” Fate replied. “Besides, she wouldn’t suspect anything if it’s you.”

Vivio had no idea what her adoptive mother was talking of. She shrugged and approached Hikari with a glass of orange juice in her hands. “Hikari-oneechan,” she called her name and suddenly tripped. The orange juice spilled over the shrine maiden’s dress, and Hikari did not see it coming until she was drenched all over.

“Aw! My precious silk dress!” Hikari moaned. “Look at what you’ve done! Do you have any idea of how expensive this dress is?”

“It wasn’t my intention!” Vivio retorted. “Fate-mama and everybody else asked me to do it!”

(Back at their office, Fate twitched due to heart seizure. “Vivio-chan! Don’t leak out the information!”)

“Damn it, Fate. You just want to expose the secret, don’t you?” Hikari suddenly cried and was covering her face beneath the flamboyant sleeves. “How cruel… my precious dress… Ani-sama has struggled to buy this for me, and yet… and yet…” She continued crying as Vivio helplessly apologized for her carelessness. “How could Fate-sama do this to me?”

(The Aces cringed. “Even though it’s only cross-dress, Hikari looks so cute when she cries…” they murmured.)

“Ara, what’s wrong here?” Hikari stopped crying and saw Shamal walking towards her with the likes of Reinforce Zwei. “I thought I could meet Hikki’s little sister here.”

“Sou desu!” Reinforce Zwei. “I am Reinforce desu! This is Shamal desu! Pleased to meet you desu!”

“Shamal-sama… Reinforce-sama…” Hikari cried again. “Fate-sama made Vivio do this to my dress… this is the only dress I have now… what must I do?”

“I’m sorry…” Vivio mumbled.

“What are they up to this time?” she sighed and took hold of Hikari’s hands.. “It’s just your dress getting dirty. Why don’t we go to my room? I can lend you some of the dresses there.”

“Really? Thank you, Shamal-sama. I don’t know how to pay back the gratitude,” she murmured.

Spoiler for inside Shamal's medical office:

Hikari was awed.

She never thought Shamal’s dress collection would fill an entire cabinet (make that five, she corrected, since the room was practically full of closets). She was uncertain, not because she knew she would be asked to wear one of those dresses, but because she could not choose which dress would suit her.

“Well,” Shamal said as she closed the curtains. “I’m sure you’ll love the dresses.”

“Thank you, Shamal-sama, but truth to be told,” Hikari said and shyly fiddled with her fingers. “I’m not used to cosplay. Even though Ani-sama taught me a lot on his hobby, cosplaying is not my type of pastime.”

“Eh? That’s quite a surprise,” Shamal teased and helped Hikari undressing herself. “You want to know a secret Hikki told me? He once told me he always gains freedom whenever he cosplays as a female character, and frankly speaking I agree with him.”

“Ani-sama told you of that?” Hikari replied.

Shamal giggled and took off Hikari’s hairpins. “Yes, he did.”

Hikari was fully undressed. She looked at her body figure in the mirror. Her black hair that was tied in bunches was now flowing freely down her head, neatly covering some part of her upper body. The ruby eyes were shining in natural way, complementing the lovely structure of her face. She was nervous for many good reasons: she never actually saw her body in its most natural form despite her frequent cross-dressing occasions. She blushed to know how beautiful she would turn to be.

(Back at the office, the Aces were now burning in jealously. “I hate to say this, but Hikari is more beautiful than the four of us,” Fate murmured.

“And Shamal doesn’t even know the horrible truth,” Hayate added.)

“I never thought Hikki’s little sister looks this beautiful,” Shamal spoke in admiration and encircled her arms around her shoulders. “Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone else about this,” gently she whispered into her ear.

Hikari gasped. “Shamal-sama?”

The Wolkenritter chuckled and kept her embrace tight for a long time. “It’s just between us. After all, we’re women, right?”

Hikari blushed. “Y…yes, you’re right.”

“Well, then.” Shamal finally let go off her and approached one of the closets to take out several costumes. “I figured out that you’re into shrine maiden stuffs, so I have some of the more… extravagant dresses here.”

“Shamal-sama, actually…” Hikari was shyly giggling as she covered her body with Shamal’s medical coat. “I had been looking forward to wear maid uniform. And a pair of cat-ears and eyeglasses wouldn’t hurt, would they?”

“Ara, just now you said you’re not into cosplay,” Shamal teased.

Hikari giggled. “Gomennasai.”

Spoiler for ten minutes later, at the main hall:

Everybody was smitten.

They had hoped that their eyes were lying to them, yet they could not.

Hikari, the Priestess of Magnolia Temple, sister of Gale Whistler Hikki, was standing in front of them not as a shrine maiden but as an eyeglasses- and cat’s ears-totting maid. They were questioning themselves on whether the cosplay was something Shamal had planned ever since Hikari arrived or it was a mutual agreement between the two women.

“I never thought Hikki-kun’s Imotou would look this good in this cosplay,” a female officer uttered.

“It must be their shared bloodline,” her colleague commented. “Besides, if Hikari-chan instead of Hikki-kun joined the bureau, she would still certainly cosplay for us.”

The two officers stared at Hikari. Realizing she was being watched, Hikari hid her flushed face behind the tray she was asked to carry around. “Stop staring at me,” she murmured. “You’re making me embarrassed.”

“So… so cute…” the gulped.

“Hikari-chan moe!!!!!” male officers roared in approval and cried touched tears. “We don’t care if it’s Hikki or Hikari! The fact that the Kokurabuji Siblings are natural-born cosplayers makes everything look so damn perfect!”

“Banzai! Hikari-chan banzai!” the rest of the men cheered.

Hikari blushed even more than before. “Why… am I being praised?” she asked.

“BECAUSE YOU ARE THE GODDESS OF COSPLAY!!!!” all men shouted in unison.

“Hikari-chan should be proud to have an understanding brother!” all women cheered.

Hikari lowered the tray that had been hiding her face. With a shy smile carved upon her face, she giggled. “Arigatou, minna-sama.” Again, they were smitten by the fact that they were seeing Hikari in shining bubbles and glittering sparkles.

(“Why can’t we ever beat Hikki this time?” Fate murmured and cried depressed tears.

“It’s no use now,” Nanoha said and patted Fate’s shoulder; she, too, was crying routed tears. “Even if we get to reveal his devious scheme, he will still outwit us.”

Hayate was kneeling in complete defeat. “I have been defeated by Hikki’s superior cosplay skill,” she spoke, and was shone by a spotlight from above.

Keroko, on the other hand, was awed by Hikari’s cuteness. “So cute… I can’t believe he’d look so cute…” She shook her head in denial. “What am I talking of? He’s just cross-dressing!”)

Armstrong said nothing. He simply looked at the congregation, shook his head in amusement and left them. “Not the kind of event I want to see before the party,” he told himself and grinned. “But I wonder if he really is going to cherish the memory he’s forging right now.”

He stopped. He looked back at Hikari. “Maybe.”

The party hasn't even started,. and yet Hikki Hikari-
