Alright, my favorite part was when good titan literally knocked the other titan's head off his shoulders with a colossal punch. One hit knockout! What a beast.

To be honest, we haven't seen any "vets" in action yet. All the Recon Corps left before the attack. The "vets" shown defending the city are just the Garrison.

Good point about having access to resources.

Alright fine, suicide bomb their ass! Nobody should die in total vain without a feasible chance to take one of em down.

You wanna eat me alive?

Chug a bomb in their mouth and let it blow through their neck from the other side. These titans are real asshats btw.

I think the suggestion is more about escape tunnels rather than underground shelters. It would make a lot of sense, as people wouldn't then have to be exposed to titans while they evacuate. But that's assuming the authorities had the time and resources to build such a network of tunnels. Still, it has been five years since the first attack, so it ought to have been feasible but, for whatever reason, it wasn't done.

But then, where's the fun in a story when people can get away safely? Face it, we do in fact relish watching people get eaten alive. Much more entertaining that way. What's the point of moe giants wandering around looking for food? Not exactly exciting TV, is it?

Good luck waiting until you reach the neck to blow the bomb when those titans just bite your head off first

That would involve an incredible amount of gunpowder, and has a very high chance of backfiring should someone panic and detonate it prematurely.

It's a long shot but if they swallow you whole may work.

Better than not contributing to humanity's survival.

Weird. If those guys had enough gas to begin counterattack, follow Mikasa and even rush towards HQ, why couldn't they use them to climb the wall instead?

the Wall is a straight climb, while getting to the refueling station allows them to utilize rooftops to save fuel. As Mikasa showcased, burning through a ton of fuel all at once just gets you in trouble.

That wasnt necessarily a counter attack it was more like they were gunning towards the supply depot they totally avoided fighting except for mikasa and you seen the results ;as for why they didnt just go to the wall they were probably too far and remember they still have to use their gas to climb the 50m wall and some guys already run out of gas just before getting to the depot which is supposed to be closer

just shocked.....

Mikasa's reaction is priceless... that dead eye... and that speech...
it's just like she's care about others but actually she's just want to do a suicide mission

That 'abnormal titan' is also awesome.. what a timing to appear
they are just handling this show perfectly! it's truly like finally humanity can regain some strength to fight back

the awesome point is how they put the "best 10" of 104th cadet in here... each of them got their own development.. (well, I don't see Christa though). And most of them are motivated by Eren's words

and when everything become tense.... "to be continued" words appeared....
/flipthetable

give me next episode!!!!!

Spoiler for My Thoughts As Well :

Really liked this episode with char development and all. I also separately came to a similar conclusion that "This world is merciless... and it's also very beautiful" so it's great to see that thought around.

And I'm fairly sick of you harping on the same point, because you well know my rebuttal. If you don't like the anime, you're welcome to stick to the manga, which you apparently prefer.

And that is what I mean by reserving judgment, and also of the futility of comparing anime against manga. Different creators bring different interpretations to a story. It ought to be quite clear now that the anime chooses to make a more direct link between Mikasa's motivation and her meaning in life. Which is to say, as long as Eren is around, she's driven to act. Take him away from her, or her memories of him, and she loses her will to live.

Within the context of the anime, it makes perfect sense. It certainly makes for gripping viewing. Sure, you're welcome to compare all you like, but always remember that directorial/editorial decisions must always be judged from within the context of its work. It makes no sense to compare apples against oranges, and that's what annoys me about manga comparisons: It must be done in the right spirit, or you'd fail to evaluate the anime on a fair basis.

Anyway, all that aside, a brilliant episode. I loved it.

=========

By the way, I believe this was the first time it was brought up in the anime: There are no stairs on the walls.

Which is to say, the only way to scale it during an emergency is with functioning 3DMG...
1 I was talking to some one else.

2 The scene had been mentioned as other pointed out for mikasa doing the same thing Eren did but worse only she had competent team mates and not fodder like eren and only got 3 people killed and she had the luck of the giant titan saving her and facing zero deviant titans were as erens group had at least 2 deviant titans and a 15 meter attack them. So it was fair to bring up how people bashed Eren but everyone is ok with mikasa doing worse at that with a group of actually important people and not just fodder.

3 I didn't even complain about the scene being different I said maybe it was done to draw comparisons to how Mikasa copies him. Was simply trying to figure out why the animator would change something so small.

I liked the episode a lot. Under lame circumstances, Mikasa would inspire everyone to go on a Generic Rampage of Asskicking due to Main Characterdness. Although she did quite well, in her current mental state was just no better than suicide. On the other hand, doing nothing isn't an option. Much like playing a terrible game of mahjong on a site that shall not be named, life forces you to take an action even if you don't want to. Even if the result is the same, the choices you do make define the person you are. But fortunately she has found out what to do and most importantly, why.

Though it appears that Eren has gone all Jonah on a titan or some shit, so we'll just have to see what happened.

Also Sawano's music for this series is most excellent.
