Outside is a hardcore game, though. I mean, you can't even reload when you've made mistakes! You can't save and can't go to an earlier save if you find things not going your way.

Same here, but no worries, the special lenses are simply there to enhance the 3-dimensional quality of the game. There were some bugs that prevented the absolute best resolution on some displays and as a temporary fix, special lenses were introduced. Recently, there has been a bug fix that seems to have resolved this issue. However, the developers decided to attempt to profit from it and it seems the cost of this fix is incredibly high. Unfortunately, the bug seems to prevent some displays from showing graphical imaging and the bug fixed may not work in 100% of all cases.

Alternatively they can blast you with a laser and hope it fixes your resolution.

Oh but if they fail you might not be able to use the special lenses anymore, so you're fucked.
