That "weird shelled planet" is the Moon under repair after it was wrecked by the Ark of Destruction. Ginga is continuing the reconstruction effort.

So thinking it over a bit. You know how they named their second series "2202" even though most of it takes place in 2203 because all the "2s" show it as the second series from 2199? What if 3199 is called that because of the "3" to indicate the third series of 2199?
But most of the series doesn't take place during 3199.

Also it seems like this might be the Be Forever, Yamato remake of sorts. So there is that plot twist to consider when talking about "the future".

To my knowledge the furthest age of the Yamato universe was 2520, though I don't know in which years Space Pirate Captain Harlock roams in.
And of course these is the Great Galaxy Yamato or Dai Ginga Yamato.

Looks like Dai Yamato Zero-go (which takes place in 3199) might be getting incorporated into Be Forever Yamato. It makes the most amount of sense since if they're going to try to tie Yamato into Matsumoto's world (assumed he has allowed it), then the Dezarian/Dark Nebula Empire is the perfect segue since they're machine men.
Perhaps I'm wrong, but the number may not just be an indicator that this is the third series.

If nothing else, it is a sign that we will be getting more Yamato, which is a good thing.

Oh I hope not.
It was already established in 2199 that Okita's lifeforce is what powered the Cosmic Reversal Device. He's dead and needs to stay dead.

in Issue 8 Icarus Part 3 Angel Too Close to the Sun where in Pages 13 and 14 https://ourstarblazers.com/vault-ima...g12/Argo08.pdf they been seeing on Report on Reanimation of Deceased individuals at Page 13 in Page 14 we can see Avatar/Okita been revived but he was still sad on his son's death in Battle of Pluto.

Different timelines, different functionality of the Cosmo Reverse System. Add to this in Yamato 2202 his spirit was seen in Teressa's dimension. Meaning he's still dead in 2203.

The Argo Press Comics was setup to make sense of what Final Yamato pulled out of the blue ten or more years earlier.

Wish they'd have changed that, but at least Yurisha will likely leave and survive.
I imagine she takes the place of Sasha though in the next series when they battle Skulldart.

if Yurisha wasnt got shot by Skulldart when she had the 2nd Iscandar been staying where Dessler and his people on Planet Galman.

Maybe Yurisha will be the new "Starsha" of Planet Galman.
Although, since Sasha isn't born yet (I imagine she is the glowing ball in the cylinder we see), I wonder if maybe she'll be the new "Starsha" of Planet Galman, since that would make more sense time wise.

Shiro Kato been around as a cadet of the UNCF Academy as a future fighter pilot of the Black Tigers from the Yamato before he was assigned when he knows that his brother Saburo Kato was dead in the battle on 2202.

It is unclear if there even is a Shiro Kato this time around. It seems like they don't want to revisit that character since he was originally made because the voice actor for Kato was popular. At that time, instead of not killing him off, they brought in his brother, and after his introduction, made it seem like he was basically the same character. I don't think the brought up that he was the brother, or possibly even his name again.
