After ep5's 21:06, Yui changed the tempo after Yuuya mastered some moves.

In EP5
Hime Yui: Your talent and potential makes you an unmatched Eishi.

She really made me smile today...

Those certain "little weapons" may not be enough and depends if "Top Gun" does another on-the-field adaptation.

You seem to be giving Yuuya too much credit. Had Yui wanted she could have defeated him even without her swords. Yuuya even knows that Yui could have won the fight at any time even after she was disarmed. However Yui didn't go out there to beat Yuuya into a pulp, she came to teach him a lesson which worked.

That's before EP5:20:15's self realization.
On EP5:20:17, we have a surprised Yui reaction.
On EP5:21:03, the tempo was change.
On EP5:21:07, Yui's finishing action phase.

Yuuya's "Top Gun" nickname is not applied for nothing.

That doesn't change that even after that Yui could have still easily won. Again she wasn't there to humiliate Yuuya, she was there to teach him a lesson which she succeed at thus there was no reason to continue the fight.

Spoiler for LN:
If you have other top level pilots, the battles wouldn't be a walk in the park even for a "Top Gun".

.
Yui could humiliate Yuuya after EP5:21:07, if Yuuya didn't use his new skills. The other pilots such as VC was surprised with Yuuya's skill on getting a solid hit on Yui.

VC: You got a solid hit in on Lt. Takamura in a TSF you'd barely been able to fly before.

Didn't Yui use her personal TSF, one that she probably knows every inch of it ?

The only reason Yuuya got a solid hit is because Yui went easy on him. If it was a serious battle Yuuya would have been defeated just as easily as the others.

The tempo was different after EP5:20:17.

Against the other pilots, the moves was pretty basic i.e. one basic slash move for each US F-15 based TSFs (KO'ed the pilots). In a close range sword fight, one doesn't bring small knifes i.e. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01NHcTM5IA4

In general**, US TSFs wasn't designed for close range combat in mind (i.e. like their WWII aircraft counterparts) and assumes it's loaded with combat ammo instead of training ammo.

Spoiler for Muv-Luv Alternative:

Tempo or not Yuuya would not have beaten Yui at all if she decided to fight. SHe could easily have retrieved her weapons at any time.

It might be good to note that US TSF doctrine seems to focus on the quick strike, Wham Blam Thank You Mam. Japanese doctrine is more of the bushido code, focusing on the individual strikes, up close and personal. Whats that move they use, when a swordsman slices an enemy in one strike before moving on to the next in a smooth flowing motion? Its been sometime since my Kendo days. So they focus more on out maneuvering the opponent up close rather than straight in and out.

Problem is that while works well one on one it doesn't work very well when you got 10,000 of them in front of you.

Seems to work well for Yui considering how experienced she is now compared to when she was forced to launch.

Yea, but the point still stands that she was bested. So she accepted the loss, cause she was fairly beaten. This wasn't a real fight, but more of a duel, and Yuuya did win with the surprise attack she was not expecting.

No she wasn't bested because she wasn't trying. Yuuya just showed her that he learns quickly and finally figured out what Yui was trying to teach him.

Furthermore the duel ended because Yui got what she wanted, it didn't end because he "Beat" her or that she couldn't fight anymore which is clearly not the case at all. Even Yuuya knows he didn't beat Yui at all and this was all part of her plan.
