For an anime, I didn't notice anything totally off. Keep in mind that anime has a different style than real life. Even if they want to be absolutely spot-on in terms of photography, the show is pretty low budget to begin with, so I doubt they'd be bothered to spend time framing a shot to look professional in addition to giving it that much amount of detail.

Based off Sanehara's episode, I can tell that this one-episode per girl deal isn't going to work out. Next week, Aki might be fine as she had a lot of interaction with Kazuya in the introduction episodes, but the faults definitely show here because Sanehara barely had any screentime.

My biggest gripe this episode was how unpleasant Kazuya was to watch. I could tell when he did that cartoonish hamburger bite within the first minute, 30s that this was going to be a hell of a long episode and boy, could I have not been any closer to the truth. Kazuya was annoying as fuck to watch. Harassing Sanehara as if it were one of the Photography club members, putting on a cat costume and acting like a creeper, being a massive pussy at the carnival, etc. I guess the final scene was the pay off but the first 80% of the show just dragged on. In itself, the episode was similar to Sae's arc from Amagami, but Junichi didn't have this drastic of a change in character.

The one episode format was bad on Sanehara, as her problem was very barely glossed over, especially when she developed a sudden change in personality. She's still cute to watch but one of those introduction episodes could've definitely been used to build her up more.

The animation once again turns to crap this episode. Twas expected, though I didn't think it would go back to introduction episode consistency.

Based off how this episode went, I'm guessing Mai and Aki are going to be the other arcs worth watching, Nonoka and Rina are a maybe, and Tomoe will be a bigger miss than Sanehara.

So I've watched the RAW.

Looking the limit that they only have 1 episode for Sanehara, I must say this episode is quite good. For once, they managed to make the repetitiveness gone of the end event on the game, where Kazuya invited the girl to his club's booth on school festival and show them the girl picture and after that confess to that girl, giving fresh experience for experienced fans with skipping the school festival (though with Haruka arc dominating the 4 introduction episodes, it kinda makes Kazuya gives up protecting Haruka's panties from his club on this episode ) and story takes part after that.

They mixed parts from story L and H. Story L with Kazuya's aggressiveness to make Sanehara took picture of people, Sanehara tells Maeda her past, and the date on amusement park; while Story H parts were when Kazuya takes picture of Sanehara when she's eating and wearing sport uniform and later their beach date. Very rushed, but I still enjoy it. If there's the part I'm bugged at, it's when Sanehara's pulling Kazuya and walks jump happily, it was so out of character On the game, even after she warmed up to Kazuya, Sanehara still being cool, sometimes make snarky comment to Kazuya, though yes she becomes quite attached to him, to the point of coming to his classroom just to see him, and even licking a soft cream on his cheek when they're eating ice cream together :3

And seems like they learn from their mistake before. The photo board on Sanehara room is very cute, mixing her, Kazuya, and their picture together like that unlike Haruka's. And they didn't "ruin" the end scene for Aki episode on the next episode preview like last week, so at least they're improving at that part, though animation still quite bad >,<

And seems like they will push other Photography Club members's appearance on other route as well, sigh. Kinda wish they use Katsumi and Ruu more here since they are her fellow club members

Not on here, he's not. At worst, the not chosen girl will get very mad at Kazuya. On the game it can only happen if you maxed more than one girl's affection, inviting them to see his picture on the school festival. At the school festival, player will given option to choose which girl to be your end girl. Other girls player didn't choose will be seriously angry but nothing much change after that. Unless if you pissed Rina, since she usually make appearance on the Cosplay Cafe your end girl cosplaying at on story H. Rina will (still) angry at you and ignore you if you maxed her but didn't choose her there.

You still confess to the end girl you chose after that, accepted, and becomes a lover. You only didn't get their epilogue scene.

I just finished ep 7, and was not terribly pleased with it for several reasons. Mostly how he kept bugging Sanehara to take photos of people. I've never taken a photo of a human, and never intend to. Nothing anybody says will change that. It's mean to force portraiture on people who'd rather shoot flowers and cats.

Also, there was a massive technical error where they were out at night, and she uses his camera to take a photo of him; the settings show 1/400 at ISO 100, f/5.6. I raged because there's no way you'd get anywhere near 1/400 in that light. A rough metering gave me about one second. Gao at such a glaringly obvious oversight.

I'm surprised anyone's still paying attention to that, given that the show's made its devil-may-care attitude towards the techniques of actual photography abundantly clear. I've long just assumed any numbers on the screen were meaningless.

Episode 7 was quite enjoyable. It gave off some nice Amagami vibes. Kazuya turned into a an idiot, but a likable one. I liked his attitude in this episode. He was forceful without being too aggressive. Sanehara's story was quite rushed but I think they did well given the limited time they had to work with. I got a sense of who she is.

Good point, but the episode kinda sucked to me... as if it was rushed with no resolution or an epilogue. Heck, they didn't kissed in the end.

Anyways, let's hope that Muroto's arc is better!

And I'd like to post 2 events I like the most from her route which unfortunately both didn't make it on the anime.

First one is the foot-massage event:

This is the third version of story L's LV6 after school date. The first version, Maeda and Sanehara goes to park near Maeda's house (the promised park on Haruka route) to take picture. But when taking picture, Sanehara's stocking is ripped so Maeda offer her to come to his house to take it off. Kanon isn't home yet.

"Is it okay for you it's just two of us? Isn't it kinda dangerous for girl and boy alone?"
"It's fine for me. Or is senpai plans to do something to me?"
"O-of course not!"

They go to Maeda's room and Maeda goes out until Sanehara finish taking off her stocking. They're talking for awhile and when moving to take Sanehara's bare legs picture (after her permission), he hurted his back so Sanehara foot-massage him. The second time Sanehara comes to his house, Sanehara curious to check Kazuya's collection below the bed.

"I don't have that kind of book!!"
"Hmm, you don't? What about inside your PC? There must be tons of "treasure" inside a folder. I'll check it."
"H-hey! Stop it!!!"

When he tries to stop Sanehara, Maeda slips and just like before he hurts his back again so Sanehara gives him yet another foot-massage. The third time is the funniest for me. Sanehara comes to Maeda's house again and just like the two times before, Kanon hasn't arrived yet.

"I wonder why Kanon always late everytime I invited you here."
"Stop it, I have prepared myself that it comes to this again."
"W-what with that, you make me like I purposely did this. I-it's just coincident!"
"Senpai just makes it more sounds like a lie."
"Geez..."

They then go to Maeda's room.

"Want to see my PC? I can proove I don't have H pictures."
"I don't have any interest to check your PC after I've suspected you the last time. You must be put it on hidden folders."
"Y-you..."
"Senpai, can I see your photo album instead? I want to see Senpai pictures when you were a kid."

From the last event from her story H, before Maeda asks Sanehara to visit the Photography Club display on school festival (last flag).

Maeda is about to come home when he meets Sanehara in front of his class, so then he asks her to go home together. They talk about the school festival for each club's event, Maeda doesn't know anything about what Photography Club does (if you don't go to Haruka route, the setting is Maeda doesn't know anything about Miss Photogenic event until very late) and he plans to submit one picture he likes the most and she wants Sanehara to come see it. Sanehara comments that even if he does't invite her, since they are basically helding same event she will come see it, but now she promises to definitely sees Maeda's picture. After that Sanehara's phone is ringing, she got text from Uchida informing the food court on shopping plaza has new tasty vanilla ice cream. So then they go to the place to try it.

While eating the ice cream, Maeda asks about Sanehara relationship with Uchida. Sanehara tells that she and Uchida gets along quite well since they have same interest on photography, though they don't always together since Sanehara doesn't like to hang out with girls due to her past (on story H, Sanehara never told Maeda her true reason why she hates taking picture of people and the 'fake' smile). After that, Sanehara notices something funny on Maeda.

"Buh..."
"Hm? What is it?"
"Fufu, Senpai. You have ice cream on your cheek."
"Eeh?"
"Fufufu, you're not that children anymore."
"I-I don't want you all of people to tell me that! You're the childish one, easily have ketchup in your cheek whenever you eat burger!"

Sanehara then suddenly approach Maeda and then eats the cream on his cheek, strartling him.

Maeda then eats his ice cream again, but now he purposely left some on his cheek.

"Senpai, why are you eating like that?"

"Instead of childish, now you're just look idiotic."
"Call me whatevery you want, just please do it again. Okay?"
"... Haaah. It can't be helped."

Sanehara then licks the ice cream on Maeda's cheek again.

For what it's worth, Sanehara doesn't really tell him to stop making her take picture of human, does she? If Kazuya really cross the line, she can just tell him to go away or get mad. And besides, Kazuya tells her to take picture of himself, not any random people, because he won't do the fake smile Sanehara hates ^^

Kazuya does go over the top with his stupidity this episode (really, shamelessly doing cat impression in front of both Photo and Photography Club? ), but for his assertiveness to gets closer to the girls to solve their problemm, that what he acts most of the time on most routes. I think the exception where he doesn't do that way is on Haruka and Kanon route.

And with how they rushed Sanehara arc, Aki, Mai, and Nonoka arc should be better since the three of them had more screen time on 4 introduction episodes. Rina and Tomoe on the other hand, may suffer the same fate of Sanehara arc >.>

Yeah, it felt way too rushed for it to really be comparable to Amagami for me.

Only the parts with Sanehara and showing her past made it more enjoyable to watch as we actually get to know her better and why she is the way she is. We never really got such a thing with Haruka, though. She just came off as the "perfect (childhood friend) girl" who just happened to like the main lead since they were kids.

The bits with Kazuya acting weird made it feel more awkward than funny compared to Junichi acting a similar way with Sae in Amagami. At least Sae didn't mind how Junichi was acting and accepted his help as an "instructor" from the beginning whereas Sanehara definitely appeared annoyed the first few times, so it felt a lot more forceful on Kazuya's part, with (probably due to the rush) Sanehara's sudden 180 with the cat bit seeming random and out of nowhere given her earlier, colder receptions.

I still would've much preferred a much more paced and developed arc, as with all the girls. Sadly, obviously, we're not getting them.

It doesn't feel like an omnibus format given there's no sense of a "reset" to the beginning, but it also doesn't feel like Yosuga no Sora's branching either as there's no sense of this taking place somewhere before Haruka's branch, and we don't even get any interacting scenes with the other main girls at all, like they were all just pushed aside because the company thought we'd never be able to tell that Sanehara was the focus this time.

That's true I suppose. Honestly I hadn't really paid attention, but that scene caught my eye. But yeah, I suppose I shouldn't expect much from it on a technical front. I am only really watching it for the photography side though, the romance is typically generic school trash.

No resolution and epilogue? Sanehara finally able to smile in front of Kazuya and she begins to take picture of people, though from what shown on the anime it's only Kazuya pictures. And the date on the beach and pictures shown on Sanehara's room are more than enough for the epilogue, it tells us that after the hill scene they are in relationship and always spending time together (Sanehara's birthday, choosing heart frame on photo sticker, summer festival, New Year). I can't speak for others, but for me it makes up the lack proper confession and kiss scene.

Though the "I like your smile" and putting her hand on his pocket and then hugs her are more than enough for indirect confession. But I do think that it'll be better if on the boat Kazuya calls her by 'Hikari' and she calls him by 'Kazuya-senpai" >3<

Yeah, the episode quota boundary limit us to know more about the girl, the game are the only way to get to know them >.>

I only use my memory here, but here are some more trivia of Sanehara:

• Everyone calls her by 'Sanehara' or 'Sanehara-san' because she asked for it. The only exception is Kazuya where on her route calls her by "Hikari" after the confession, and Rina which calls her "Sane-chan" where she can't go against Rina because Sanehara is big fan of Rina's handmade cooking.
• Her eyesight are actually bad and she's wearing contact lens. On the game when learning this fact player get option how to react, if you choose "Why don't you wear glasses?", her response would be, "Senpai, do you have glasses fetish?"
• She hates English (the language) very much due to childhood trauma. I don't quite get the dialogues on this event, but on my understanding it's because the foreign colleague of her parents who come to visit and live with them for short amount of time. That person is always talks loud and cheerful, making the little Sanehara learns some basic daily conversation such as greeting, etc. She begins to talks like that in her school and gets attention from her friends, it becomes a very embarrassing memory for her. After telling Kazuya this story, he teases her when she's about to leave, saying "Sanehara, SEE YOU!"
• Before trying to make her laugh with the costume (on the game it's not a cat costume but dog), one of his attempts is introducing Sanehara to Kanon, because Kanon is a cheerful girl who always smile, not only when her picture is taken. At first Sanehara still bothered by it, saying she's actually dislike to take picture of girl more than a boy (referring to her girl friends incident) so she only formally have introduction with Kanon. But later after she's warming up to Kazuya and begins to have faith in people's smile once again, she becomes friend with Kanon. Kanon asks Sanehara to play tennis together but Sanehara doesn't want to because she hates wearing cute tennis wear like Kanon, and everytime Sanehara takes picture of Kanon, Kanon always use her "Usa Peace" pose
• She has 1 older brother who already a college student. Her brother never made appearance though, only mentioned when Kazuya asks who Sanehara gave cholocate to on Valentine's Day (which she says she gives it to her father and that older brother). But on the date on theme park, on the Zombie House player can asks Sanehara to scream specifically, where one of the option is to scream ala younger sister (she then screams, "Onii-chan help meee!!").
• Other than taking picture of Kazuya and Kanon, she also willing to take picture of Katsumi. In fact she's asking Katsumi to take picture together, since she says to her Katsumi is also important person who made a place for her in Photo Club. Katsumi recognized Sanehara who often took picture with her cellphone, so she approached Sanehara and asked her if Sanehara interested to join Photo Club. Katsumi then lend Sanehara her DSLR camera and Sanehara very interested about it and she bought her own digicam shortly after.

Yeah, it felt way too rushed for it to really be comparable to Amagami for me.

Only the parts with Sanehara and showing her past made it more enjoyable to watch as we actually get to know her better and why she is the way she is. We never really got such a thing with Haruka, though. She just came off as the "perfect (childhood friend) girl" who just happened to like the main lead since they were kids.

The bits with Kazuya acting weird made it feel more awkward than funny compared to Junichi acting a similar way with Sae in Amagami. At least Sae didn't mind how Junichi was acting and accepted his help as an "instructor" from the beginning whereas Sanehara definitely appeared annoyed the first few times, so it felt a lot more forceful on Kazuya's part, with (probably due to the rush) Sanehara's sudden 180 with the cat bit seeming random and out of nowhere given her earlier, colder receptions.

I still would've much preferred a much more paced and developed arc, as with all the girls. Sadly, obviously, we're not getting them.

It doesn't feel like an omnibus format given there's no sense of a "reset" to the beginning, but it also doesn't feel like Yosuga no Sora's branching either as there's no sense of this taking place somewhere before Haruka's branch, and we don't even get any interacting scenes with the other main girls at all, like they were all just pushed aside because the company thought we'd never be able to tell that Sanehara was the focus this time.

We do get past story of Haruka that tell us how she becomes the school's idol she is now from the tomboy little girl who like to play soccer. It's because little Kazuya's suggestion that she should be act like proper girl (growing hair, wear skirt, etc) so she can have many friends like Kazuya back then. Also because their promise that Kazuya will marry her if she becomes more beautiful in the future.


For the interacting with other main girls part, we hardly get that the actual game anyway. This is based on love sims not VN, so if we already get into specific girl route, the other girl hardly make appearance at all. Even on the Amagami the other main girls never had important role when they appear on the arc they aren't the focused girl. There is rare exception on some routes here on Photo Kano for that though.

i guess calling Sanehara episode arc rushed would be correct though it was paced well enough for those unfamiliar with the girls' back stories. he was a bit annoying with his attempt to get her to take pictures but i guess its on par to fit 1 arc into 1 ep.

id actually prefer this series to be paced more like Clannad where there are 4-5 eps per arc ans 24ep run. after seeing the first arc in PK anime id rather them have shortened the first one than go to the 1ep=1 arc method. id have liked to see more of Sanehara's arc and probably for the following arcs also.

Maeda still switches between white knight (overly eager at times, heart in the right place) and creeper photographer. Muroto eventually overcomes her personal issues and likes Maeda for all the qualities she might have originally disliked: the pushiness, the blackmailing. The graduation came and echoing the sentiment of both telling each other they "love" one another during the date, Muroto says she loves Maeda again and wants him to come for her one day. Her feelings may change in the future but right now it sounds like she will wait for Muroto to make her his lady one day. Huge shipping.

Maybe the remaining episodes will keep shipping each girl this hard or this was an aberration. I always thought the pair could get along much better than they did but this upped the ante a good deal. I'm glad Muroto will pursue her dreams, keep going forward, do things for herself and not believe she cannot go any further in life. And Maeda gets to keep the pics he took and her affection for his labor.
