I think Bislama (also a creole from English spoken in Vanuatu) is near your request. Nouns and intransitive verbs take same forms; you can make transitive verbs by adding suffix en/im/um to them. There are naturally some exceptions and therefore it cannot be said consistent.
I don't fully understand the idea that the definition of verb decides its transitivity. For example, - to arrive at the station - to reach the station In both cases, the conceptual "movement" the verb signifies looks equal. Rather it is a matter of syntactical custom, isn't it? |

I believe things like that are posted to 4chan relatively often, and the responses are supposed to make fun of it. Just note that this message forum doesn't tolerate that sort of stuff. It's the most strict message forum I've seen, in that regard. You drew upon a meme in your response to klowny. The memes are fine, but don't overuse them. Conversations here aren't meant to be comical, nor are they meant to be a series of memes building upon each other or images posted one after another. There are people here who have not heard of 4chan, and there are plenty of others who think that 4channers are immature and an annoyance on the net. Spending a lot of time at 4chan does not make you special here. Be respectful to other forum-goers and try to contribute thoughtful posts, and you won't have any problems.

It's from some futuristic vampire anime <forgot it's name>. The person in the picture is a hitman for the Vatican. (and a very powerful vampire)
This sort of question should be placed in: Anime/Manga/Game Identification Help [See first post]

How come HTML tags are written differently in forums than they are for websites?
for example. Sample Text uses the following tags [ color=red][ B] [ I] Sample Text [/b] [/i][/color] Opposed to using <color=red><b><I>Sample Text </b></I></color> never really understood this.

By the way, your second sample should be: <font color="red"><b><i>sample text</i></b></font> |

A question to those whose first language is Chinese:
How do you cope with unknown Chinese scripts? I mean, Japanese children learn kana(s) first, then gradually start kanji. Basically they can write down any sentences without using kanji, so they have no problem in writing even when they miss some of the important kanji letters. How does a Chinese child write, for example, 中华人民共和国 when he/she does not know the character 华? |

During elementary school, kids learn the characters. There is a course specially dedicated to this. They start with "Pin Yin;" it's a system comparable to kana, except Pin Yin only serves as a pronunciation aid and a method for looking up characters in a dictionary if only the pronunciation is known. Pin Yin is never used in formal writing, and its use by students is eventually discarded once they learn most of the characters required for clear expression. Starting in grade two, students begin learning actual characters and proper grammar. Pin Yin is still used, often appearing above text in similar fashion to furigana. Once a character is taught students are required to memorize it, and will often be tested afterwards. As one's education progresses, the use of Pin Yin in school texts, as mentioned before, diminishes until it is nonexistent. Last edited by [DOT].L; 2008-06-16 at 02:24. Reason: grr, typo |
