At least that's my take. I'll have to wait and see how he behaves now, but so far I really think Taku's the last person who deserves Chiyu, with the possible exception of Araya. He has no respect for her, thinks that she's an idiot for having feelings for Haru and that if he keeps showing off she'll see the shallow light. Not to mention he did something as despiccable as bugging her so he could see anything she could see, and hear anything she could hear, at any time. With my current opinion of him, I wonder whether he had the decency not to 'follow' her into places he shouldn't be... |

00Coyote is right - This show is really camp and cheesy, and nowhere is this more evident than in Episode 5.
But the great action scene visuals, the characters acting with at least some degree of consistency, and the timing of certain events, makes it all work at least decently well, imo. It's an enjoyable watch for me. The thing is that contrivances kind of build-up, one after another, like feathers upon the back of one's suspension of disbelief. Eventually you might hit a feather that break's that back due to cumulative weight. We're not there yet, imo, but I hope that Accel World plays things a little less conventional, and a little more realistic, in future episodes.

For those who are confused on why 2 girls are into Haru despite his chubbiness and his self-deprecating behavior, I say this: never underestimate the power of Moe/
The girls are moe for Haru, plain and simple. They feel sorry for him and want to encourage and comfort him and in the process, they fell for him. The epitome of a reverse moe. |

I know he ain't the most GAR character around, but damn, some of you ain't even giving him a chance. Also, the anime might not have made this too clear, but the flight ability is his SP gauge ability. I admit though, the way it came up was rather deus-ex machina-ish |

In just a few moments I'm going to start with the fifth episode, but I want to take a delay to post comments for the fourth episode.
Very touching and very heartwarming Kuroyukihime's confession to Haru; you know after this it turns ambiguous to criticize Kuroyukihime for using Haru, especially that she got jealous the first time hearing from Haru that he direct linked so close with Chiyu. Kuroyukihime did morally question things in the past to other Neuro Linkers in her search for the truth about Burst Link, so it is a naturally reaction from viewers to be somewhat wary of her. However, if she shows openly that degree of empathy and caring for Haru as a person and not as her servant, then it now would sound harsh from me to criticize her whole character steadfastly. The answers as to the existence of Burst Link and Accel have yet to be answered, but at least we now know that Kuroyukihime shows affection for Haru. Spoiler:
This show continues to amaze me even more due to the close relationships between Haru with Kuroyukihime and his friends- Taku and Chiyu. I cannot condone Takus' actions to have done all of this, because his jealousy against Haru for feeling that the latter was bogging down the former's relationship with Chiyu as a justification. But, I guess that one love towards one girl who has been a childhood friend between two boys who see themselves as the best of friends, then it can't be helped that rivalry ensues along with stupidity. But, the fight between those two let them to clear their feelings and gain a better outlook of each other. If Haru proposed to Taku to tell everything to Chiyu about their secret lives and to start over the relationship, then I trust Haru that they can do it. Kuroyukihime with pig tails was so moe sweet. The only downside I was having this big expectations that her true avatar form would have played for a future plot device in later arcs, but it served her purpose to finally show her Duel Avatar in Accel World so as to publicly proclaim throughout the Global Network to all users that she's seriously crippling down the truce and going after the other Kings. It was kind of funny when Silver Crow was "flirting" with Black Lotus, and Cyan Pile was like, "yeah, ok, I'm here you know. Why don't you go get a room?"
So essentially, with Silver Crow's new flight ability, he could potentially defeat a lot of higher level fighters and level up quickly. I wonder what his level 2 bonus ability will be? Also, as the only one to have flight ability, wouldn't a lot of the Brain Bursters want to befriend him just for the chance to see things in flight? I'm guessing some of the other kings will at least attempt to pursue him to join them. Or maybe the hack Yellow King's group will attempt to duplicate his ability and create flight for themselves? Also, will the ones that defeat the other level 9 Kings be Black Lotus, or does she really only intend to have Haru defeat the level 9 Kings? One needs to defeat 5 level 9 players to reach level 10. Currently, Black Lotus has defeated 1 and needs 4 to go. Haru needs to defeat 5 (but only when he reaches level 9, right?). There are currently 6 level 9 opponents that we know of (7 if you include Black Lotus). That means if Black Lotus does not kill anymore, then Haru can still spare 1 of the Kings. Hence, he could bring one of the kings to his side if need be. Also, when a king gets killed, what happens to his followers? Do they form their own group, or do they nominate a new king? I know when I used to play, once an old guild leader quits, a new one is nominated, but the group is never the same. It breaks apart, and new members make of the core. As for ChiYURI, I wonder how she will react to the backdoor confession and Brain Burst program? Will she ask to join right away, or will she wait until Haru is better before she joins? Will the dynamic of the 3 friendships change, or are they all one big happy family again? I'm going to bet on the latter. Actually, the group is now a group of 4, if you include Kuroyukihime. Judging by the preview, we'll have glasses girl introduced in the next episode, and she looks like she is powerful. I also expect that Haru's harem will be very colorful, with each member representing a different color. When cute twin tails red head girl comes in, I'm expecting her to be pink ranger... err... pink something. Chiyu will probably be pink or yellow (based on yellow pikachu like stuffed animal she was hugging). It's a long week away until the next episode...
