I've read... some of the first Volume, Its follow's the anime, in Parts I noticed But still has moments Which are no where to be seen.
Overall the Art in the Manga is Quite different than form the anime, But Still all the Characters are Drawn Basicly the same + the detail is good, Just dont Expect the Art to be up to the Standards as Say the Kenshin Manga.
Hopefull Someone might Translate it but only time will tell

I quite like the manga since I don't have to bear with the craptacular special-ops teams. It also has some differences from the anime which I prefered. (although its probably due to the fact that the anime and manga choose to order the events of the story differently).

Where can I purchase the manga?
Animaxis.com (
http://www.animaxis.com/en/shop/prod...ku=128301%2D00) has the first volume listed, but is currently out of stock. I don't know where you are exactly, but their shipping to the US is also pretty expensive, so if you have some other stuff you wanted to get, best to do it to make it worthwhile.
I checked sasugabooks.com and they don't seem to have it listed there yet, though a friend of mine who went to the Sasuga Bookstore in Boston this weekend thought she saw it there. hopefully I can get a weekend to go into Boston and look myself.

Vols 1-3 RAW have been upped before on verious sites, thought its been a while so the torrents are most likely dead.
Though some one is bound to translate it soon enough.

Umm, I don't mean to be an ass or anything but I had several problems with the first manga chapter scanslated by KazeNoKoeFansubs. Allow me to point them out:
1) For the love of god lose the weird arcing text. Sure it might look cool, but its a bitch to read. I had to turn my head several times just to read the damn things, and it was incredibly annoying.
2) Don't just cover up the Japanese text with English. That's the mark of someone who either cares only about speed and not quality, or someone who just doesn't understand how to edit manga well. It looks cheap.
3) The sfx. Leaving them in romanized Japanese is fine, but you might want to put translator's notes for the "less intuitive" sounds. I'm sure many people don't understand what "PISHAAAN" means (shutting door). And you know you can always put in the English equivalents where approrpiate, like "DON DON" = "BAM BAM", etc. I usually mix both English and romanzied Japanes sfx when I translate.
4) Proof your work. One line that annoyed me was "Well I have no interest in going along with your interests...". It just sounds like poor English. Maybe they used the same word for 'interest' in the raws, I don't know. But this brings me to my 5th point...
5) Don't translate literally! The Japanese language's semantical structure is radically different than English, and often times its just better to completely re-phrase a sentence so it sounds more natural than trying to stay true to the Japanese text.
6) When you introduce name styles like "Ma-bou" and "Shin-chan", you might want to actually explain the name suffixes and shortcuts in that case. Of course I know 魔王 (Maou) = demon king and so Ma-bou would be a "cute" way of saying that, but I bet 95% of your audience wouldn't know that.
7) Manga scanslation definitely isn't easy (as I'm sure you all at KnKF figured out now). But you should know your places. Its a whole different ballpark from Fansubs and just because you're competent in one doesn't mean you'll be competent in the other. If you continue to do this manga, I suggest you find a team with experience in scanslating a manga so you can release great manga chapters of Shuffle along with great fansubs.
And with time and practice, I'm sure your skills in manga scanslation will improve, but until they do I recommend you find some "senpais" to show you the ropes.
I hope you didn't take my comments the wrong way and that what I stated above is useful to you guys. Good luck.

Then don't read it.. let's see... Okay we didn't erase sfx like some groups... We didn't translate them as yeah we honestly don't know them.... um text... that was our editors choice and i'll be sure to make it different for you next time.... Um sorry that "Fansubbing" is so different from "Manga Scanlating" but I don't think it really matters when half your audience is just going to say eh well their's came out first so I got it.. Or if they're not like that they'll probaly sell you out when a better known group releases and... What else.... Want to complain, then I highly recommend you read the original japanese raw manga or help us.. Either that or please don't be as rude.. There were several ways you could of informed us of our "errors", but this was probaly the rudest way....
Thanks again.

Yeah, Sorry that just screams insult...
And I don't think we're just so great we can do "Manga Scanlating" but when most other groups still white out the text or translate from chinese... I don't think we're exactly in the wrong for trying to supply the public with a free service.

*sigh* I knew that you would take it the wrong way.
Look, I was just trying to point out what I felt were mistakes in the first chapter you released so you could hopefully improve upon them next time. If by "better means of communicating it to us" you mean speaking with you privately instead of posting it in a public place, well yeah I could have done that, but I've found that submitting private critiques of others work has much less of a chance of getting them to do something about it than a public statement. I would be glad to help out if I wasn't so damn busy these days because I enjoy Shuffle and I think I would enjoy the manga as well.
I don't think it really matters when half your audience is just going to say eh well their's came out first so I got it.
I'm probably adding fuel to the fire by responding to this, but I disagree. Sure, your first time you're going to have a few goof-ups because you are inexperienced (I admit that I made mistakes when I started out too), but I don't feel that "excuses" you from making misteakes. You just need to admit them and learn from them. That's the important attitude to have IMO, and not to just shrug it off as "well it was our first time so its okay".
Yeah, Sorry that just screams insult...

You're absolutely right here, I admit it. It was rude and I was very presumptious of me as to the reason you chose scanslated the manga (I thought you were just trying to provide leverage to get more people to watch your subs). I apologize for that.
Of course it is a free service and I as well as others appreciate it. But just because something is free doesn't mean the quality has to be poor. I use and write free software everyday of my life and I feel in many cases that it is much better than proprietary products (and I think free manga should be the same way).

Well I first want to say, I do understand you were trying to help... But when you say things like "But you should know your places." that's like calling us lower then dogs, not good enough because we chose one profession before we started another.
And i'm not a lazy anime founder who thinks, well it was my first time so we'll do better later. No, I'm nowhere near that. I learned just about every job and examined many fansubs to continue improving my group's overall quality. I have put many hours into it just to make it what it is today, and I admit that's not something anime-kingdom or aone would be proud of.. But we're not exactly looking for a huge community of 10yr olds who run their mouths.... I do realize that most people would probaly have shrugged off a pm.. But I really would have preferred you had done it that way as I would have welcomed it alot more... You know maybe next time if the person doesn't improve or reply you could then insult them to the public...
But I understand some founders and groups you have to be stern and insult them to get a point across but KnKF... Will never be that group..
We'll try to make your changes next time... and also if you know someone who has japanese knowledge or atleast sound effect knowledge pass em our way.. We would love to do a better job next time.

This is what I usually refer to for Japanese onomatopoeia:
http://www.oop-ack.com/manga/soundfx.html
It doesn't have everything you'll find (since a lot of mangaka's "invent" their own sfx in their mangas), but it has a good heap of stuff. I'm still searching for a more complete list myself.

Does someone know if SHUFFLE! has a chance to get licenced since its populairity ?
__________________________________________________ __________
scsa20

For the anime: 40% chance.
For the manga: 30% chance
For the game: 0.02% chance
then again, this is just my figures from what I've obseved from the past... not all populair anime/manga that's out in japan and what not get licenses because of this and that. I'm still kind of surpressed that Kodacha was licensed by FA, although, because of there contract, they had to cut some stuff out (like... some dialog on the japanese track >_> )
Anyways... for the manga, they have to jump through the same hoops that anime licnesers has to go through, and not all populair manga get's license.
For h-games, on the other hand, if the game is "too populair." To quote from the head guy who license the h-games for US releases:
There's an inverse effect with Japanese games
though -- sometimes games are "too popular" for their own good. Air,
Kanon, To Heart, sold 30,000 or more copies at $88 here in Japan
(Tokimeki Memorial sold 100,000), which makes the pittance we can
offer Japanese companies to license their games look pretty bad...
later on in the convo:
Yes, but then there are two problems. One, when something loses
popularity, it loses popularity, no matter what it was to start with.
Also, in the case of the Elf games that were so popular once, their
lack of availability through legal channels caused them to be pirated
left and right. I for one wouldn't be willing to take a chance
licensing a game that million of people had already gotten for free
once.
I am not trying to shoot down your ideas of course, just presenting
an unfortunate catch-22 we're faced with ^_^
(btw... I asked him what if the popularity dies down a bit, if it would possible then, that's the guy's reply).

I somewhat doubt it
At least not for a while... I mean, in terms of erogame conversions KGNE seems to have caused a fair commotion in the community but no company seems to have looked twice at that, Shuffle's much less popular outside of these forums. Nope, you won't be putting Shuffle! DVDs on your shelf for a looong time.

Yeah, definitely the clone stamp tool. Sometimes, you do have to do a bit of re-drawing too - for example, to join strands of hair that were covered by words, to fill the gap of two-page spreads, etc. You can quite easily spend many many hours cleaning up a single page, or spread (and some manga are more "evil" than others in that way).
Anyway, I've heard some good things about the Shuffle manga, so I'm looking forward to reading more.

the one that looks like a stamp
(a faster way is just press the S key on your keyboard

to use it under Windows, press the Alt key (I guess it'll be the Apple key under Macs but I'm not sure since I wouldn't touch a mac with a 10 feet pole) and select the area that you want to copy (normally around the area where you're going to fix) and then let go of Alt and click on the spot you want to touch up. This well keep the same distace of where you want to clone and what you want to clone, the Crosshairs well show you what your cloneing from

And Another Note, I wonder how the Manga will end things will one girl be the one, or will Rin Chose Nobody Since I think that the anime and manga will have different endings.

The difference is that it'll only capy around surrading areas compair to only one area.
The clone tool is perfect if you want to do a small patch job and what not (I used that tool to get a dent out of a picture of my co-worker's car).
Using the marquee tool to select an area and copying well involed a lot of editing after pasting it when only do a small repair job. I only find the Marquee tool useful when I only want to copy part of a picture over to another layer or onto another picture.

Seems like not many people are following the manga I thought, that Primula and Sia Fans might be interested in the Spoilers
Well after reading over a few parts, One thing I notice is a bit different is the way they colour/shade the Characters eyes, It's not that bad but I like how the how done it in the anime better.

More likely he's a student and school just started .... I find my expectations about manga scanlations and anime fansubs are easier to control if I keep track of the school calendar --- these brave
men and women are often buried by Real Life a few times a year (school start, midterms, finals) and then they just need a break (yay, summer!).
I'd like to do translations but you'll have to stand by for a year or two whilst I get up to speed (currently in immersive Japanese language studies -- my own personal midlife crisis action coupled with my wife and I's desire to visit Japan for an extended period -- she's nisei
).

Lol. Nah man, we're all just busy with school.. Working with limited resources is all.
Expect a new manga chapter very soon.
I should mention our translator for the manga is also very busy with school, so we'll see what happens.

Much appreciation for the scanlations from Kazekun and company ... its nice to see one of the source materials for the anime if naught else. This may be one of those cases where the anime is actually preferred to the manga (which actually seems sketchy compared to the anime's character development, oddly enough). I'm assuming the backstory will be filled in as the manga progresses. And it scores massively by NOT having those hypergrotesque groupie squads. They're funny on occasion, but in general they waste a lot of screen time.
I'd love to help with translation but i'm just not there yet in terms of competency in the language.
Hopefully this manga will break the line and be popular enough to be translated and sold to the West. I figure if a nice little niche product like Moon Phase can, surely this one... ?

This may be one of those cases where the anime is actually preferred to the manga (which actually seems sketchy compared to the anime's character development, oddly enough).Well, actually, that's because it really isn't source material for the anime. Like a lot of things in Comptiq magazine (
http://www.comptiq.com/), it's a derivitive of the game (as is the anime, of course). And it tends to be more derivitive than most, in that it's really designed as an "extra" to please the fans. Unlike a lot of animes based on a manga's original story (where the general rule tends to be "the manga is better"), there's really no direct relation between the manga and the anime here, other than that they're both based on the same game (so, obviously, same characters, etc.). So yeah, if you take it as another chance to enjoy the Shuffle characters, then you'll probably understand the spirit in which it's being produced. Basically, as a general rule, anime based on games tend to recreate the main story in animated form, and manga based on games tend to be more complementary (expecting prior knowledge of the "real" story). Hope that helps bring a bit of context to the manga.

Ah thanks.. I was trying to be a bit vague because I wasn't sure about the chronology of the products and whether they were linear or "in parallel" as you point out.
I've got the game ordered and am anxious to see what the buzz is about (as well as get another motivation to improve my Japanese).

Hard to really "judge" it without the raws... the mechanics of the font and typsetting seem fine. I've never been able to decide how literal I like my translations ... sometimes using the emotionally equivalent translation works better than the literal. I *definitely* prefer the use of the name-suffixes ... it tells a lot about the state of the relationship.
Just on what I see the second seems a bit better but I really have no metric to justify that.

Just out of curiosity.. Was this release better then the last, or possibly worse?Well, for what it's worth, I thought it was better. A noticeable improvement, to be sure. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I would like to offer a few little suggestions, though (please take them in the spirit in which they are offered - not meant as "harsh words", or anything). The three main things would be to try a different text font (perhaps Wild Words or AnimeAce), to work on typesetting in bubbles (I prefer to have everything center-justified, and with good margins around the edges of the bubbles - and make sure bubble text stays inside bubbles), and perhaps not to level quite so much (the images look a bit washed-out/too white, but that may have been due to bad raws). I think the treatment of SFX was improved - still a bunch that were a bit obviously "painted over", but it's better. The script itself is still a bit rough around the edges - work on grammar and flow (my suggestion there is to have the editor try reading it outloud - or at least "outloud in their head". It's a good way to test the flow of sentences) - but it's quite understandable. SFX are always a struggle, but it's coming along.
While editing guides (
http://www.manganews.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5) are always a great help and highly recommended, a big suggestion is to look at what else is out there. Pick the best manga translations you see, study it, and emulate it. If nothing else, it's a good starting point.
I hope these suggestions are practical and helpful. If you need any more details/information/advice, feel free to ask. Keep up the good work!

There was a "Tier 1" Internet outage in the last 24 hrs which screwed up a lot of the Northern American portion of the net. Router firmware upgrade poison or some such. It appears to be slowly clearing up as the net gnomes do their duct taping.
Just occasionally.. its not the client's fault or the server's fault .... sometimes it is the Intarweb....

chapters 19-24 Raws are out at pointblank and I just read through them. Its mainly about Asa but I didn't like how they made her use her magic it was still good but not as dramatic as the game. But still it good to see her having her long hair in the manga. SHe so much cuter than the other girls with her long hair plus we get to see Asa's Dad or at least a pic of his dad.

Agreed, it was far more dramatic in the game.
Though hopefully, the anime will stay true to the game moreso than the anime, especially with it's Age-15 rating.

Just read the raw as well.
The way the manga handled each heroine's "scenario" made me feel that the manga is trying to drag things along without any plot development.
While the manga did play out each heroine's story, nothing came out of it apart from character development.
I suppose that's the downside of having a manga come after the game...
That being said, I'm still looking forwards to Kareha's and Mayumi's stories, since I probably won't be getting my hands on Shuffle! On Stage.
