Welcome to the Shuffle! Novelization Project, led by Ricky Controversy and DJLowrider. We are looking to explore in-depth the heroes and heroines of the Shuffle! franchise in order to take the existing, intriguing setting and cast and flesh them out until they make for a compelling reading experience.
We want this to be a community work as much as anything: a focal point around which the old Shuffle! fandom can gather once more and produce something great that anyone can enjoy. As such, we are looking for fans to contribute their thoughts, hopes, questions and concerns--objectively, civilly and thoughtfully--about the characters of Shuffle!, their interactions with one another and their world. Shuffle! is a great franchise that displays a fascinating world and vivid cast, but we also feel that it deserves further exploration. We as a community can make that happen. We look forward to receiving your contributions and discussing the project with you going forward! ~R. Controversy & DJLowrider

I want to stress a few things up front here before any discussion gets rolling.
Point #1: Check your fanboy-ism at the door, please. We want our characterization discussions to be at least somewhat objective. We don't care if you hate Asa and love Kaede or if you want to see Nerine dead and Sia gloriously triumphant or any other permutation of such ugly and pointless nonsense. If you choose to ignore this point then we will choose to ignore your contributions. It's as simple as that. Point #2: Don't take this stuff too seriously. This is intended to be a fun project for us to discuss and explore facets of the cast's personalities. Friendly debate is welcome and encouraged, but don't take it personally and don't make this out to be more important than it actually is. Point #3: We are discussing the game characters, not the anime characters. It is pretty clear at this point that the characterizations portrayed in the anime are not the same as those in the games. In the games Kaede isn't a passive-aggressive with potential violent tendencies, Kikyou isn't a total harlot and Rin isn't nearly so clueless as he is in the anime just to name a few examples. So don't try to mix the anime canon with the game's, it's an apples-oranges comparison. Beyond those 3 points, pretty much anything goes. Pick a character and talk about them. We're looking to cover just about everyone that makes an appearance in any of the Shuffle! franchise games, so that includes:
So in short: Curb your fanboy-ism, this ain't Serious Business, game characters not anime, and above all have fun with this. Haters, trolls and the like will be ignored.

I'm going to get the ball rolling here, appropriately, with my thoughts on the series' main protagonist: Tsuchimi Rin. There will be spoilers ahead, though given the nature of this thread I think spoilers are unavoidable so I won't be bothering to hide them as is usually the practice around here. Anyway, my thoughts about Rin:
