Thanks for the translation of volume 3. Though I felt like there wasn't much of a cliffhanger feeling in the last chapter. Stuff did happen but it didn't feel much of a closing for a volume, it just kinda ended abruptly on that part. It was the same with volume 1. Well whatever, just my two cents on this.

I have a few questions about Tatsuya and his abilities:

Gram dispersion:

Gram dispersion is essentially "decoding" and dispersing the psion used in the "body" of magic, which is the magic construct. By nature, the magic construct is used to alter the information of a targeted body and thus must expose its information without any interruption. Normal magicians are not capable of this as it requires the ability to read, understand, and break the construct all in a matter of 0.x seconds. (modern magic is cast in 0.x seconds present day); In an experiment setting where the magic is known beforehand, this is possible to use, but it is generally accepted that it is impossible in actual combat.

Gram demolition:

I believe gram demolition is the disintegration of a spell through sheer psion output. A dense mass of psion burst blows away all spell constructs through brute force essentially. The amount of psion a magician has to have to use it repeatedly is huge and not something the average nor the above average magician are capable of. If Mayumi's psion bullets were the equivalent to a sniper rifle, then Tatsuya's gram demolition would be compared to an artillery barrage.

both of these are known as the strongest non-system based counter magic

flash cast is acquired after the experiment done on him by the yotsuba. He is able to alter eidos (use real magic) and instantly cast any spell that are 5 steps or lower. He can skip the process of using a CAD and creating an activation sequence and instead be able to memorize the spell. Though the processing speed of the processor in his head is inferior to his natural processing speed, the experiment can be considered half a sucess.

There are quite detailed descriptions of how Gram Demolition works.
For a Non-System Magic like Gram Demolition, the Interference Strength of a Magician casting it doesn't really matter.
What really matters are Psion Reserve of the Magician and Interference Strength of opposing Magician.

If it is a clash between 2 different System Magic, the Interference Strength of both Magicians matters because the one with higher Interference Strength prevails. The power of System Magic is determined by the Interference Strength of the Magician casting it.

However, the power of Gram Demolition is determined by how dense (compressed) the Psion particles are which has nothing to do with Interference Strength value.
Of course, if the opposing Magician has high value of Interference Strength, his/her Magic (including Initiation Code and Magic Code) will be more resistant to outside interference, so you would need more powerful Psion projectile (meaning it consumes more Psion particle to generate) in order to destroy the opponent's Initiation Code or Magic Code.

Think of Gram Demolition as high-pressure water coming out from a fire hose.
Let's assume that the pressured water itself isn't lethal enough to kill a person, but strong enough to tear accessories off the person.

That accessory is comparable to Initiation Code or Magic Code, and usually the process of them being torn off would usually break them as well.
Gram Demolition itself doesn't really have any destructive property. The force that tears the Codes off a Magician is usually enough to destroy the Codes (Codes are basically a temporary and fragile structure, not designed to withstand such force by themselves

Mari described it as Carpet Bombing (Actually, What Tatsuya used is most likely Gram Dispersion, since Mari did not see a Psion shell (or flow) generated by Gram Demolition. The description of multiple Magic Codes suddenly destroyed with no apparent reason fits more closely with Gram Dispersion.) because she is used to seeing Mayumi's Psion Bullet which is basically a minor version of Gram Demolition.

If Mayumi's Psion Bullet is a sniper rifle that kills the target by hitting its weak point with precision aiming, Tatsuya's Gram Demolition is an artillery barrage that levels the whole ground.

As for unique, those that think he was given this during the "let's see what magic we can shove into him" operation. He's the only one known to survive it. Whether that meant the operation itself or just this technique, dunno...?

His regeneration or restoration are both his natural abilities. 2 magics of the same coin. Every magician can regenerate and disintegrate as the most basics of magic fundamentals. One can slowly disintegrate or restore a glass cup. But Tatsuya has taken these 2 basic abilities to the extreme to which is it is considered unique. I believe flash cast was the result of the experiement that he survived.
