NieR: Automata Demo available December 22
Quote:
Yesterday, we learned that NieR: Automata’s demo would come to Japan on December 22, 2016. Today, Square Enix has issued an update that makes that trial a little less exclusive. On December 22, 2016, people in Japan, North America, and Europe will all be able to go through “DEMO 120161128.”

As mentioned earlier, YoRHa 2B is the star of the NieR: Automata demo. The android will be heading into an abandoned factory as part of her quest to help mankind retake Earth. In one of the released screenshots for the demo, we see her facing a robot many times larger than she is.

NieR: Automata will come to Japanese PlayStation 4s on February 23, 2017. North America will get the console version of the game on March 7, 2017, and Europe gets it March 10, 2017. The PC debut is set for 2017.

Hmm... I was going to get Nier 2 on Steam since it was announced, but if that won't come for several months after the PS4 release, I might go with the PS4 version after all.

Demo is out now on the JP store, along with Valkyria Revolution. Gonna have some Platinum goodness tonight

Demo is short but fantastic. I messed around with the menu for a while just to get a glimpse of what is in-store for the retail game. Looks like its going to have plenty of depth. The combat is good, not the type of depth you expect in something like in Bayonetta but for a RPG its really good. This game is going to cover a lot of things. You get your sidescrolling, top and third person. Mech flying and bullet hell spam. The animations are fantastic. I'll play threw it again later on hard mode.

Ugh, of course you need a PS+ account again to play the demo, at least in the German store ... I hate this.

They're not panties, she's wearing a leotard. (Not even kidding, that's the official statement from Yoko Taro.)

So I haven't been able to beat the demo on very hard yet. I keep getting a little too greedy and make that one mistake. I could of course spam my pod and keep mydistance but where's the fun in that?lol. I'll make threw in one of the tries without slipping up eventually.

Make a separate JP or US account and grab it from there. Demo is import friendly.

was trying to look for some nice picture of her to do wallpapers, but all i'm seeing were pictures of her butt...
then the other days, one of my recommended youtube video was showing her butt as well.

i don't think they'll censored her leotard (pantsu). it's one of the best feature in the game!

It's a very solid Platinum action RPG... unless you play Very Hard

Yoko Taro is not known for quality games. In fact, he is known for the opposite

Depends on whether the difficulty is properly balanced and fair or not.

Platinum games expertise with the action genre was the best thing that could've happened for a Yoko Taro game--which have been known for their unique and engaging (albeit depressing and occasionally twisted) stories with lackluster gameplay. And I'm happy to see this game is (so far) turning out to meet my expectations. Hopefully the gameplay makes this the best selling Yoko Taro title yet and exceeds SE's expectations to the point where they'll consider working with Platinum games again. Because if they could impart some of their talent to improve the more action-oriented gameplay to some of their more major rpg franchises, I can't imagine that being anything but a good thing.

On an unrelated note, I've only ever played the Drakengard titles. So this will be my first Nier game. I've heard these two franchises are connected though. So I hope I'll be able to discover some sort of link in these plots for myself through playing this game.

You won't really notice much of a connection, if any at all. Nier Automata is about as distantly separated from the first Nier as much as Nier is separated from the Drakengard games.
