Saimoe Japan 2009 (not started)

Just a thread to talk about Saimoe Japan 2009. The competition hasn't actually started yet, so just talk about who you may nominate and whatnot.
I'm looking to nominate Ran and Amu from Shugo Chara, Yui and Sawako from K-ON!, and (maybe) Tsukasa from Lucky Star.
Question: does 2ch support BBCode, for putting pictures in posts? Or do you have to link to them?

Of course. KyoAni characters have been dominating Saimoe for the last two years. Why break the streak now? And Mio's "Moe Moe Kyun" ordeal screams, "Nominate me for Saimoe!"

If 2-chan bans my area like they did last year, I am never gonna bother with this thing ever again! >_<

Ouch, sorry, Daniel.
It really sucks that 2ch's banning foreigners from voting just because we "upset the outcome" or "sway" the competition. Honestly, who cares? And why are they counting our votes separately from the Japanese votes anyway? Anime fans are anime fans; we are all the same as far as this competition is concerned! Rika won Saimoe 2007 fair and square, so what if the Japanese votes were on Nagi's side? Every vote is the same.

No, it's not. It's good they banned some areas because it keeps most of the trolls out.
plus most of voters would be low-level who only watched 1-4 shows per a year.

Well I would think the Japanese would be able to outnumber all the foreigner just with their one-two hour waiting period. Only the serious ones with enough access time will even vote.

I agree. The mainstream anime/ low-level fans wouldn't even know or care about Saimoe. If you managed to even learn about Saimoe, that already shows that you care about anime.
And the voting system would drive a lot of potential trolls and n00bs up the wall, anyway.

What!? Are you implying that my area is full of trolls? that most anime fans here only seek to destroy Saimoe?

If you actually think that trolls and spammers only live in certain areas then.......

Oh please, most people join to support their favorites and a few others along the way. I fail to see how casual fans are suddenly low level just because they dont watch +50 shows between each edition. They have their favorites and wish to support them just like everyone else.

To call them trolls and low level is just an arrogant and ignorant statement on your behalf. After all, you do not know these people, nor do you know all the anime fans in your own area to label them as superior and thus worthy to vote in Saimoe.

I never spammed Saimoe during the 2007 edition, and I am sure the same applies to others that got the same treatment. 2-chan could ban the trolls individually but it does not so, and I can only guess that it is so because it does not like the way foreigners sometimes vote and want 2-chan favorites to win; Wich is why they use this "spamming" excuse as a way to control the amount of foreign voters as they please.

And I really have to wonder if they would actually ban entire areas in Japan because of a troll or two in them.

Oz is rather moe. Too bad he never turns into a girl, though. Or have been in an anime.

Perhaps in Male Best Moe next year, but Oz isn't getting a gender change just yet.
I'll definitely be rooting for Alice though. It's been a while since I've found such a perfect female character, I can't find any flaws with her. <3

Predicted winner: Mio. The anti-KyoAni faction will have to be amazingly strong to beat that.

Bleh, it's like a fact that she's moe now, due to that one K-ON episode. Some may even consider her the Queen of Moe. And "Don't say lazy" helps her standing as well.

What would make it tough would be inter-KyoAni matches. There is still several possibilities:
Lucky Star OVA (came out last September)
CLANNAD After Story
Munto TV (doubt anything will come of that)
K-On!
And then we have the grey area: Haruhi and her spin-offs.

And now we have Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody, so more possibility for Haruhi and the gang.
Speaking of which, I'm gonna nominate Yuki/Mikuru instead of Tsukasa now. Thanks for reminding me.

A few weeks left before it starts, 2 games to go and the Lakers will win this year's NBA Finals.

The twins win SaiMoe last year so they are on everyone's watchlist of elimination.

My favorite top eight moe that has a chance to win this year's SaiMoe

1. Hinagiku from Hayate no Gotoku 2 (I still wanted her to win...)

2. Nagi from Kannagi

3. Tomoyo from Clannad AS

4. Yuki from Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya S2 (she's more MOE than she last time appeared)

5. Felli from Regios (leg breaker for the win)

6. Mio from K-ON (MOE MOE KYUN)

7. Maria from Hayate No Gotoku S2 (please no more first round exit)

8. Ushio from Clannad AS (Nagisa no longer necessary)

I won't put Haruhi Suzumiya on my top eight.

Eventhough I am a Takako fan, I wouldn't mind a bit if Nagi and Tsugumi were to make a decent (and better than Takako) run this year.

You think we'll be allowed to nominate characters from the Youtube Haruhi series?

Maybe not. Considering that it's not aired on Japanese TV stations proper, I think.
