I'm not even sure what they were thinking: the C version of western fleet, the EU fleet, the russian fleet and the 19th desdiv could generally attack 3 times since the boss usually disable one of them. You would expect some special stuff with them, but they didn't even make up for their much smaller fleet composition with equipment. That's why it is yet another huge layer of RNG behind a questionable feature.

From what I heard the Western fleet's equipment was so fucked up that the carriers were totally useless and couldn't night battle(like having no planes at all, or no night battle planes).
There was also that strange decision with Iowa and the 5" inch gun instead of an AP shell.
I imagine they wanted to make sure she doesn't cut the boss down over Zuikaku and Musashi

Actually, Saratoga somehow managed to score a 3 digits crit at night with a night plane cut in. She is the only carrier properly fitted for night battle, whereas Ark and Graf are pretty much stuck with swordfish type of night attack, so pretty useless.

As for Iowa, I don't think it matters at all, moreso that AP shell bonus is never applied in night battle.

I never rolled the Euros or NATO fleet in E7. For part 1, it was always potatoes, who were generally worthless. Then BB Water Oni Kai sinking Beaver who was equiped with damegami was part of the "plan", if you could say plan for a game heavy on rng.

For Part 2, I got Noshiro once and Yamato twice. The first time Yamato fleet showed up, Nagato got taiha, then when it was the turn of my escorts, Zuihou got taiha too. Had those two not been taiha, the battle may have changed and I'd have likely ended the event before.

Hard to say if the devs telling us than what Isokaze and Hamakaze got wasn't a second remdel, should be taken as a hint than they are planning a ''proper'' Kai-ni for those two or than the stats boost wasn't high enough to deserve the appellation?

It's basically like Bismarck Zwei or Oktyabrskaya Revolyutsiya: an intermediate form a step up from Kai, but not as powerful or gimmicky as a Kai Ni, and also without the accompanying character design change.

Like in every events, Anonymous put together the Seasonal Wall of Shame, so you can find comfort thinking, "At least I am not one of those guys", whether you were successful or not in the event.

The general criteria is that the artist have not drawn ecchi arts or have deleted all of then, just like Jiji.

Wow, there's actually such a criteria? I guess that narrows the possibilities down a bit. There's also some talk about Koike Kazuo, writer for Lone Wolf and Cub, taking up the task since he too is a KC fan (a Kawakaze fan to be exact) =3.

For me, I'd like to see Kei Suwabe or Kojima Takeshi in the role, although MetaJan's recent work seem to be split between FGO and Shirohime

Would have to be the Samuel B. Roberts. The other 3 DEs in Taffy 3 are no where near as well-known or revered in naval history. Plus, the Samuel B. Roberts would have the unique distinction that her future self nearly sank, too, after having struck a naval mine in the Persian Gulf.

Well, I'm back, and my absence was due to how horrible the ending of the event turned out for me. Failed my mission of an all Hard clear and had to settle for licking my wounds on pleb difficulty. I ended with completing E1-6 on Hard, but failed at the final hurdle, partly because of a silly, regrettable decision to farm E-7 in the first place.

Very disappointed in how it turned out in the end, and I was getting on the ludicrous end of bad, horrible RNG when I was at E-7. I once had 9 runs ending in retreat back-to-back, not even a sight of boss. I was so upset I almost made my mind up to quit the game for good when the event ended. E-4 also played a huge part in wearing my sanity and optimism out with some crazy 51 sorties needed from start of bar to the kill.

Next maintenance will be on 06th April (Fri). Besides Arare's K2, Yayoi will also get a spring seasonal CG.
