Naruto is a special kind of mess though. I gave up on the anime there a long time ago. At least Fairy Tail has enough common sense to take a darn break when needed.

At least I can't imagine if FT is willing to take breaks that they'd massacre the pacing for the last arc when the manga is finally done. I'd hope so anyways.

What do you mean Fairy Tail tends to be more generous with the filler?

Less than a quarter of Fairy Tail is filler. While nearly half of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden are filler.

Are people really claiming that Fairy Tail is worst filler-wise than Naruto? Did everyone forge the 120 straight episodes of filler hell that the first season had?

^ Nope, ramen kneading rasengan is deeply etched into my darkest nightmares...and you just had to bring it up :P

So yeah, FT spends time animating omitted scenarios or including omakes instead of going with extreme AO stories. That's not to say that Naruto filler was truly all bad, but it's been exploited to a disgusting degree. In comparison, FT's first second filler arc, the Zentopia arc, was actually integrated into the story canon after its completion...so there you have it.

Oh right, they'd planned that one to end the anime first. Completely forgot about it - can't say it was memorable in the first place. I stand corrected!

So when they say its last anime episode does that mean its not gonna be picked back up like Bl;each wasnt or just waiting for more material? Seems like to me it may be "over."

They mean that episode 277 will be the last episode of the current series, like episode 175 was the last episode of the first series. The comments about a TV series in the works are likely an indication that they plan to a third series that picks up with episode 278.

Wonder if it'll be FT related.

Now this is interesting. As I understand it, Mashima's influence in the anime largely stuck to general story outlines/notes and designs, and a few OVA scripts. But if Mashima is spearheading an anime project directly, then I really have to wonder if it's just going to be a simple continuation of the manga's story.

I'm pretty sure the intent is simply to reassure his readers that he's pushing harder than anyone to see to it that the anime continues. He's not going to suddenly replace the director or the writers with himself. I doubt he'd take the role of a producer either. All in all, Mashima's time is mostly consumed by working on the manga, so there are some limits as to what he can do for the anime which is only tangentially his business.

not full true, he also work a lot on help anime and ovas and movie, well going to presentations and others things, mashima is a workaholic selfasured, and normally he aways "above" the mark in the manga like being 2 to 3 chapters ahead also having time to play games and others things, he really is a "ninja' when comes to manage his time, i can see him being a producer like akira for dragon ball.

Putting in some work on a couple of the OVAs and providing concept drawings for the movies is a far cry from the sort of continuous commitment that work on an ongoing TV series would require. Toriyama can do it for Dragon Ball Super because he isn't doing anything else except supervising the manga.

he don't do only that he also do support for the anime production many of the "extra" scenes have his finger and ideas, by the way if him say which he is leading the production why i will doubt him????, he aways did a lot of support to the anime, he is one of the fews mangakas which have so high influence in anime staff, nowadays is hard to see this, most of the times we have "anime staff which give a "fuc*** yo**to the mangaka or the owners of the franchise and do what they want which normally ending leading to terrible adaptations.

just because is hard don't means which he can't do it.

Although he has proven to have enough time to more than meet his deadlines (like the 5 chapters in 2 weeks a couple years back), doing that along with an anime would take up at least 14 hours a day...I just hope he doesn't overwork himself.

The final episode has passed, and they FINALLY played the main theme again after so long. They haven't done it once since the last revival. And so many references to series makes this a much more satisfying conclusion, despite the obvious open ends it leaves.

Lol they played the first theme OP song of the 2014 season.

I can't believe they plan to end the season here, just feels weird...but oh well. Had fun watching this series with its good and bad moments. Lucy's outfit also gave me some nostalgia in the finale (episode 102). Looking forward to more in the future if they plan to adapt the Avatar Arc.

Not sure what to rate this yet to be honest...but watching some of the montage clips gave me nostalgia.
