Wink Old classics from 90's and before - various genres

Since I am at a place where I have a much faster connection speed and since recent my interest in anime has been going up I started wondering about older series that I might have missed. By old I mean in and/or before the 90's era.

What I am looking for; I decided that during the upcoming year when I move back it might be a good idea to watch some older series during diner and all that. However I wanted to know some titles. There are older series that I like and have seen; ayashi no ceres, Tenchi Muyo maybe some more that I can't remember (genre that does not fully match Trigun, bebop).

Anyway on my watchlist already; Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, project A-ko, Kimagure orange road, I might go and watch Ranma, the Ocean Waves film. (also Outlaw star which apparently I forgot to watch years ago)

I am looking for; adult romance series, no moe, no slice of life comedy, no shounen and no panty shot echii but a serious romance story. A secondary option would be romance comedy, but again I am not fond of echii, moe and slice of life comedy.

Secondly; any fun action series, I saw part of the first project A-kon series and all of Tenchi Muyo and really like the science fiction, action, comedy aspect. Any fun series with comedy and action from that time period would much be appreciated.

City Hunter and Space Adventure Cobra (the 1980s version, mind you).

Those two series needs more loving in this place.

I think Lost Universe is an entertaining action show. Also, it isn't a mature romance or particularly funny, but I think it's a classic not to be missed - Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight. There's also an OVA with essentially the same plot, if you enjoy the TV series.

Have you seen Catgirl Nuku-Nuku? It's very much what you described.

Also, I don't have to mention Patlabor, Cyber Formula, Macross Series, Turn-A Gundam, Nadesico, Ao no Rokugo (Blue Submarine no. 6) and Gaogaigar to you, right?

Romantic comedy without any fanservice is well represented in "classic" anime. I suggest looking at:

Maison Ikkoku: For a young adult perspective
Touch: For high school/adolescence

Gotta get Outlaw Star in there. Massively fun character-driven sci-fi from Sunrise. And if it isn't an oversight, you really should watch Rurouni Kenshin.

Older than City Hunter, but same author, Cat's Eye

Otherwise, Lupin III.
