I sincerely hope that this time the pace for the 3 remaining episodes will allow - after the climax/final resolution - for some "quiet time" to see the characters again together, where "some" doesn't mean "only 3 minutes long, then greet everyone during the ED and be done with it".

anime series tend to end abruptly because *all* the available time was spent on the main story, or sometimes they just leave the ending completely open ended (and frequently it just doesn't work).

very few have a bit of "after story", that show that some minor problems are still going on, but somehow the characters have woven toghether again their lives.

that would be a great way to actually "prove" to the viewer that the characters have survived the events, and to give them a dignity on their own.

e.g. 12 kokuki had the kind of ending I'm talking about (but the execution, in that case, felt quite uninteresting and uninspired).

Bit on the slow side with this episode, but I rather enjoyed it. It was nice to see the plot take a back seat for awhile and focus the episode on the three characters most caught up in this whole mess, honestly. The last episode's shot of Kurisu had me feeling a little nervous about what she might be considering at this point; it's hard to tell if she was just curious and checking out the place where she died in the original timeline, or if she was contemplating undoing the last D-mail herself and steeling her resolve.

If kurisu also possess the RS, it would be interesting if she remembers who killed her in that time line.

Mayuri rememebred her own deaths, maybe she has the similar power like Okabe but could not understand it and treat those memories as bad dreams

3 more eps to save Mayuri and Kurisu...

At the very least, we know that all the Lab Members (except maybe Daru) can recall the events that happened in the other timelines, so it's possible that Kurisu may eventually learn about about her death to be able to prevent it from happening.

Okabe knows that he has to undo his first D-Mail to (hopefully) jump to the original timeline again. Of course, losing either Mayuri or Kurisu (or even both in the worst-case scenario) is not a option, so he must find a way to save them both and restore order to the world (because I don't think he wants to live in a world where SERN pulls the strings).

I think what they need to find out is:
1. Who killed Kurusi in the original timeline?
2. Why did he/she do it?
3. Can any knowledge from previous timelines be used to persuade this person to not kill her?
4. Are there still factors that have been overlooked (for example, I'd still like to know why Okabe has the ability to retain all his memories from any alternate timeline he's been in and what triggered it the first time).

Isn't it obvious? In that timeline it was Suzuha who killed Kurisu as Kurisu was a spy for SERN in that timeline's later events.

^ most likely points to it. But we also have to factor in the scream that we heard that sounded like Okabe.

Since we know Suzuha came to there and that was the initial time travel she would probably kill Makise Kurisu the goddess of the time machine in order to fulfill her mission to prevent her future from happening.

It really does point to her. But we also have to ask. Why was Makise all the way up on that floor that is really dark and dead empty. Did some one call her up there? could it of been a future Okabe since it was his scream and he had to kill her or did he witness her getting killed? If so he would have had to run since he wouldn't of wanted his past self to see him there.

To many questions for us non game players x.x

Good god, this episode was so sad. And first time Mayuri doesn't get killed right away too, so she could talk a few seconds with Okabe before passing away.

Also was creppy that she sort off remembers her multiple deaths in all the timelines *shudders*

Seems like an odd move on Suzuha's part though, all things considered. Sure, Suzuha doesn't like Kurisu, but I don't see her quite capable of killing her. Especially since her main focus was to go to 1975, so she didn't need to kill Kurisu in the first place.

You can't assume things in the Beta Worldline based on facts from other worldlines. Each worldline is enveloped in an Attractor Field unique to each other, and it's determined by the outcome of each branching point, in this case Okabe's 1st D-mail. Logically speaking, if what Okabe gonna do will ultimately erase SERN distopian future, there will be no reason for Suzuha to hate Kurisu.

As for the purpose of Suzuha's time travel in the Beta, there are some hints in episode 1 & 2.
Spoiler for Hints:

And please note that Kurisu was never a SERN spy. In Suzuha's POV, anyone that is associated with SERN = enemy. Kurisu is just destined(forced, if you like) to be the Mother of Time Machine in the Alpha Attractor Field. Nothing more.

So you're taking into account Suzuha's extreme hatred for Kurisu over her getting praised as a goddess of time travel from her future? Wouldnt Suzuha have done that either way regardless of which world line Okabe was in?

That's right. Keep in mind Okabe's remark during the episode: Each person lost something important to them. Kurisu may be the one to die, but she's not the one involved with the D-mail. In this case, it's Okabe's D-mail that has to be reversed.

Spoiler for Episode 21 speculation:

Spoiler for Episode 21 speculation:
Suzuha has already explained a huge chunk of it in episode 14 & 15. Rewatch those episodes and give a thought about the meaning behind her assumptions.

While it may be true that he could protect both, but at what price?

Maybe, because of his meddeling around with time, other people will fall into misfortune or die ultimately as well, and he wouldn't even know or wouldn't think of it.

True and another thing : if the creator of the timemachine is killed, how the machine of Suzuha is supposed to exist in the first place ?

There is something I don't get ....

Daru is the "true" creator of the time machine.
He and Okabe were the ones behind the phone microwave to begin with, so it isn't a stretch to expect Daru to complete the time machine in the future.

Easiest explanation is that his RS was triggered by John Titor's time travel to the year 2000.
