Where are you getting the "There is also the female childhood friend who is in love with MC but would almost certainly lose." part from?

Mitsuki isn't the MC's childhood friend (she can't be since he only moved into the area a couple years back), and there's nothing on the site or in the novel to suggest that Mitsuki is in love with him.

I don't know what to feel about the director, but Jukki Hanada on scripts has me hopeful as always.

Just looking at the that promo art and I can already tell this is going to be the most beautiful show of fall.

According to the novel readers her poverty is a new addition. Further, the selling of monster gems for money was anime only as well.

In the midst of anime promos in the last 24 hours, how in the world does KyoAni's come off as the least impressive or interesting? Anime is obviously dead!

Music is good, visuals are great, concept seems decent. The only thing I don't like is the character designs. Doesn't fit the tone that the PV is trying to sell because its overly cute.

I don't really have any issues with the PV. Yes, the character designs lean towards cute, but this is KyoAni. I didn't expect them to go out of their comfort zone or drastically change styles, so I don't really see why anyone else would, honestly.

I kinda agree. KyoAni seems to do this a lot of their PVs. Clannad, K-ON, Nichijou, Hyouka, Tamako..... even Chuunibyou.

I wonder if they're going to apply those character designs from Free into something that has more girl characters or "omnipandering" in general. Wouldn't that be out of their comfort zone?

Their PVs are usually very understated. I mean... people were going, "Wut?" at the PV for Hyouka before being blown away by the series.

Hyouka was kind of a very understated series as a whole, so there's no way you could make a PV seem exciting without trying to sell the series as something it's not.

Kyoukai does not seem like such a show, so I'm surprised this is the tone they chose to present it with. Especially with the amount of promos released today/yesterday, Kyoukai just kind of disappears into the background.

Taneda Risa doing what seems to be our protagonist for the show? Color me pleasantly surprised by the choice, she did a fantastic job in Shin Sekay Yori.
