ME is still working on it, but they mentioned that playing the first game with an update to get "Crest", rewards that can be used to get potential D2 rewards early. They also said that more info will be officially be out in E3 2018.

Pretty excited for this. Ubisoft did a great job fixing the mistakes that were in The Division and provided well appreciated free DLC's and whatnot to the players. Although it did take them some time to fix (the past 2 years), Ubisoft did put forth the effort to make The Division likeable and did their best to get the player base back. I think The Division 2 will definitely succeed now that Ubisoft knows the mistakes that were made in the first one.
I recently reinstalled the first one (which I haven't touched since 2016) and started fresh with my two other buddies. Can't wait to hit end-game content and hope its worth it so we can get these "rewards" in the 2nd one.

Expected to release on March 15, 2019, the sequel will be set in Washington DC. I hope the launched product looks as good as what we're seeing here, but knowing Ubisoft, I'm not holding my breath yet. Still, it looks promising.

I really enjoyed The Division when it initially came out, but stopped playing due to all the problems that was going on (like many other triple A games deal with upon release lol). I came back to the game about a year later, played quite a bit and stopped (I actually don't remember why). I do intend to pick it back up once in the coming months. Although the game still has a bit less than a year before release, that gameplay video didn't do Division 2 much good for me. The graphics are amazing, as is the first one, but that's about it. Like the guy in the video said, it's mostly the same stuff, but just an upgrade. It's kind of hard to explain, but I was not impressed by the video at all except for the graphics. Everything just looked the same. Definitely something I need to keep an eye on, but I have high hopes. Ubisoft/ME definitely learned their lesson with the first one and they showed the players that they were willing to make full amends for all the problems.

Not yet. I hope I get in though. I'm most likely will get the game, but haven't pulled the trigger yet on the pre-order. I might just simply wait for day 1/2 reviews then pick up the game to be on the safe side. All these Xbox Division 2 gameplay videos are not doing the game any justice with the mediocre looking visuals.

The private beta showed up in my Uplay, I'm not sure if this means I'll be able to preload it tomorrow and then start on Thursday.
Never pre-order if you can help it: waiting for the reviews and footage is always the safer bet. I had a solid time with the first one, and got all of the exotics plus a full six-piece Striker set solo, but in spite of this, I'm going to see how the game actually plays before making any decisions. For The Division, I ended up waiting for two years because I heard the first while was very bumpy, but by 1.8, everything was solid; I pulled the trigger on a 50% off sale and never looked back.

Closed off the private beta in style by blasting my way through the Invaded mission solo using the marksman specialisation. It's great for dealing with the Boston Dynamics-like autonomous drones and heavily armoured enemies. Ammo for it is super-rare, though, so I saved it for only the named elites.

I somehow got invited to the private beta too (I think its because I beta tested the original too) so I've give it a blast through.
So far it plays like a better version of the first division, with some really welcome changes and tweaks. The idea that you're building up each individual settlement is pretty cool and gives you lots to do. The way the gun add-on / customization works is a lot more stream lined, and you dont need to carry a million bolt of bits for your guns around. The environment is pretty cool and have a very "I am Legend" vibe throughout, with all the overgrowth and wilfe life around. Though some of the atmosphere the first game had thanks to the snow storms and cool steam lighting effects is absent here. The gameplay itself at the basic level is very much the same as the first, maybe a little too similar to the point that it feels more like an add-on than a whole new game. Story wise I didnt get much of a feeling that it carries on from the first, as it almost feels standalone in a way. As I didnt see any mention of Keenan or other characters from the original. I hope there is a more clear continuation in the full game, even if it's just through the audio tapes etc. That said I did enjoy the first game despite its failings, so I'll likely still buy this when it launches.

Open beta set for March 1st! Been on the fence still after watching various streams and YT. D2 seems more like an expansion that includes basically a new map/zone with some new guns and mods. Graphics are of alpha, but they basically look the same as the first. Still not sure if this is all worth $60 so hopefully the open beta will do me good.

Naa sadly I didn't even get to finish the side missions before the private beta ended, I was a bit late downloading and jumping in.
Not really read up on them but I imagine they're maybe similar to the challenging difficulty missions from the first game ?
