For anyone who didn't know, Puchimas 1&2 are up. As I thought, it's not exactly my cup of tea.

Motherfuckin Haruka.

*grabs nearby person* WHY IS YAYOI NOT ON THE LIST-!!!? *shakes*

...*sigh* I'm quite surprised at the results. Not saying that Haruka shouldn't have made the list but...44%!!? Seriously? This is based on the ANIME character poll right? Compared to the other series that the other ranking characters come from iM@S is fairly new, with the exception of Madoka Magica.

...and of all the iM@S characters, Haruka? Really??

But I'm just as surprised that Kinomoto Sakura made the list. C'mon, how old is Card Captor Sakura? And when was the last time it got any big media attention? I believe that it was fairly recent that they've revived the series and movies on Blu-ray no? Eva is still an otaku favorite, not to mention the new titles that have been showing up. Nanoha still gets quite the attention with the Vivid and Force mangas running, not to mention the movies. (BTW, the release date for the DVD/Blu-ray of the second movie in JP is 3/22) Do I really need to go on and say anything about the other series?

How did Haruka get up there?

This reminds me of Kanade in ISML.

That gap is way too big. I'll bet someone rigged the poll. Harustein strikes again?

There isn't much to talk about the other heroines.

In the other hand one can find Haruka and the group in various media since many years ago.

It doesn't surprised me that Haruka topped the list, she is a very popular character. Yayoi is not there because she is not the main heroine.

The legions of Harustein cannot be underestimated.

Sakura is always there though. She was my first introduction to CLAMP, and from that spawned an obsession with all their other works. Which set me up to job advance as master otaku.

I'm sure that's the same for many. We will always remember the first time...

WAT!?(o_O)

Whose to say Haruka is the "main" heroine? Aren't all the 765pro idols the main characters in their individual way?

True, back when I was still a child living in Japan I just pretended that I was being forced to watch it with my sister when I was actually enjoying it myself. LOL, I can admit that now as a grown adult otaku.

I think Haruka is the most main character-ish of the idols. She's usually either shown first, in the center of a group shot, or leading everyone else.

Haruka is the equalizer, but I don't think she holds any such importance over the rest of the idols. I'm actually quite surprised someone like Miki or Chihaya didn't win; the popularity I've seen around during the series conflicts with these results. Then again, this is Japan and I've seen a more universal popularity myself.

Japan seems to vote in a lot of tragic characters I find too- a better emotional connection perhaps? I mean, Akazawa Izumi from Another was voted in "most tragic" character followed by characters from Sword Art Online like Lizbeth, and those characters were never really developed at all. Quod erat demonstrandum.

I think the iM@S fans got together and decided to focus on Haruka for this competition (its a tactic that some fanclubs use to boost their favored idol singer who is part of a larger group on the popularity charts).

They will then rotate idols such that everyone gets Top Idol at least once.
