I don't remember that. Though I wonder how unless they managed to get either better Japanese tanks, or used other nationality tanks like Ooarai does. Or get really lucky in the draw...but then they only had to win two battles to get to the Semi-finals. Did they beat Waffle and Anzio to get there?

I don't see many other nations using later 1930's era tanks using what are basically anti-infanty weapons. But then we haven't seem most of the other schools, and Anzio did use CV33 tankettes for the majority of their force. Machine gun armed tankette. 8mm machine guns that can't even penetrate the armor on a Type 89.

I imagine that the only thing really stopping them (or any school for that matter) from doing so is the expense involved -- see how Anchovy apparently had to leverage their budget to get one P40.

It wasn't a Blu-Ray booklet, but a random magazine article. There are some teams, like Bonple, with truly miserable equipment. Also remember the flag tank rule, and how some prefer to stick the flag on one of the weaker tanks.

Well, they can always cheer on the Germans!

Also, I feel like that it's inevitable that some fan is going to just straight up buy an authentic PzIV (the Russians probably have a spare one rusting somewhere or buried in a bog) fix it up, and drive it to Oarai where it will stand forever as a monument/museum piece.

It looks more like a Panzer III dressed up to look like a Panzer IV, as shown by having large roadwheels and a 5cm KwK 39 gun.

It was a Panzer III Ausf J.
