If there is one flaw with the source material > adaptation is the lack of establishing more how things are after the Volume 9 has ended. So we can see where are they, their relationships after the events in that volume ended. Something similar to volume 5 where while it progressed the plot, the ending conclusion was understandable since the whole volume lead to it. To see them interact and grasp more what is still wrong between them. A shorter volume that can act as a bit of a breather before the next wave of drama. Heck, it could be even a .5 volume adapted.
(Even though the 1 st season has done the volume 5 in 1 episode and removed a big chunk of it it still worked). It didn't help that we jumped between volumes inside an episode. But what happened it happened. As the focus of the second part is more internal to the characters it can be confusing to the viewer. Show, don't tell - take a bit of time for the status quo to sink in. I don't think that the volume 10 was successful in doing so.

I've been reading *mod snip* pastebin and he's up to interlude two. It definitely seems that the series will end in the next volume, to me at least

It was confirmed that Volume 14 will be the last one that comes with Volume 13 as a simultaneous release. The date is unknown.
As for what happened in Volume 12, I don't know who to believe regarding the summaries. There are some contradicting things, so I want to read the whole thing and make my own assumptions before saying anything regarding the direction the novel may take. |

IMHO, Oregairu should have ended at the end of Vol 11, leaving things as they are; 8man's too twisted and yukinon damaged to have any real relationship, and yui's too fake. Watari Sensei really lost a perfect opportunity to step back and end the series while he's on top. what a waste.

Still don't get why or how Watari lost his passion to get over with this, when he time to time said in the Afterworlds that the ending is near. Maybe he has his own version of the ending already, but the editors want to push for something that he doesn't like, so he protests?
