The main vibe for the current series is that, it feels like Pokemon is going to adapt the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise system of producing a new MC for every generation.

And each subsequent MC will keep getting wilder and unrealistic colorful hair, while character desings get more and more chibi until the studio resets it back to normal in a reboot of the original Kanto anime.

Quite apparent on the creator's part. The producers of the Anime wanted the show to be at the entry level point to bring in new viewers at the pre-teen age level. I stopped watching the show after the Johto League. Had Ash captured Meh and a few legendary Pokemon, I would still be a watching the show. The fact that Ash never grew up was another reason I stopped watching the show. It became repetitive after the 2001 to 2002 season. Not to mention that Pokemon USA dropped 4Kids voice actors.

There's Ash's apparently habitual onset of sudden brain damage that "mysteriously" seemed to happen every time he reached a new region with his apparent forgetting of basic Pokemon mechanics he's learned several times already.

Or maybe being 10 years old forever wreaks havoc on the development of your brain.

That only started happening since Unova Saga (aka., 5th Gen).

From Kanto to Sinnoh (aka., 1st to 4th), there was a steady climb in his performance and abilities, which is also why many consider Sinnoh Saga to be his carrier best.

While all that did return somewhat during the Kalos Saga (aka., 6th Gen).

But in the end it all went downward from Alola Saga (aka., 7th Gen) which continued onto his final Journeys Saga (aka., 8th Gen).

while I do like ash, I always wondered why they never adapetd a new character each region. I'm not saying to adapt adventures manga no matter how much we ask but the characters for each region are there in the games, a new adventure each time without the problem of ash being inmortal and his brain reseting every region.

this is a perfect chance to try since ash is "retired" but I'm sure he will be back.

Originally, Ash was supposed to win the Sinnoh League and move onto the Champion League (basically the League from the games where you challenge the E4 and Champion), which was being set up throughout all of the Sinnoh saga (kind of why he meets all of the E4 and Cynthia as he travelled the region), after that the idea was to reboot/continue the series in Unova with a new MC, but the Pokémon Company cowarded out and believed that the series wouldn't continue to be as popular without Ash and Pikachu, so they scrapped that ending for Sinnoh, shoved in Tobias and soft rebooted Ash in Unova into being 10 years old again.

After that, from Unova onwards the series lost it's identity and has been trying to course correct back into the heights of where Sinnoh was. They tried very hard with Kalos, but they basically made almost the same exact mistake as Sinnoh and it was all for nothing, then they soft rebooted again for Alola to make a slice of life series and then, rebooted yet again for Journeys into a Pokémon Go focused series.

And now, we have yet another reboot with the current series.

My bet is not a fucking chance. It'll probably be an even buggier trash pile.

It's not releasing until next year, so hopefully they've learned to space it out and fix the flaws.

Edit: I mean, I don't really have expectations at this point so I don't think I can be disappointed. If it sucks I just won't buy it.
