Well, if we have to have experts at working with little or no budget (We're talking Deen after all so it's quite likely) or having to work with severely low FPS, who better than people that have worked with Shaft?

I'd really like to know which particular episodes he was in charge of (If he handled anything from honeycomb, we're set), but it certainly seems like a good choice for this kind of series. No problems with character designer from me.

Wasn't involved in Honeycomb though.
He was "series director" for Hoshimittsu which basically means he directed it with Shinbo supervising.
