(L) Dimension W (manga)

I've heard that the manga is 9 volumes, but is the anime seriously going to go through all nine volumes in one season? At this rate, seems like it might be possible, or up to volume seven at least (I have no idea what's past the scanlated chapters, just guessing based on the speed of the adaptation so far).

I can understand them skipping over the last arc (its not that important an arc, though I did like the world-building, background details and the insight into Kyoma's character it provides), but I had hoped that meant they would spend more time on this one. Especially given the horror story vibes, they need to spend more time on the mystery, of getting into the setting. Oh well, its not a huge problem. And I'm actually kind of glad they cut out the police, he was mostly just annoying.

Welp, I think we've hit a very VERY worrying thing here indeed. I read ahead up to the current volume (book 9) and apparently it's STILL the Easter Island arc. And its unfinished.

There are interesting stuff though! Like the revelation that

the entire thing that prompted the Grendel raid to begin with was a rogue New Tesla scientist going "FOOLS! THESE LIMITS ARE NOT TO BE AFRAID OF! MWAHAHAHA!" and commandeering the facility. Loser was also a researcher there (his name is really Julian Smith), as was his wife, and his wife (Sofia Greenbough-Smith, Elizabeth's mom) was taken hostage because only her biometrics (specifically, her hands) could activate the main machine.

Oh, and Kyouma stopped everything because he stopped the final piece of the machine from being installed. THAT was what caused the Easter Island incident... Except it didn't kill the badguy, and instead stranded him in a sort of pocket dimension connected to Easter Island.

So it was just a giant coincidence that a coil accident killed Miyabi at the same time the greatest coil crisis struck Easter Island?

Pretty much, yep. Nothing really so far pointing to it being anything but a case of bad timing (the Easter Island incident caused a cascade that made coils all around the world fail, so...).

Take note, book 9 stops at chapter 69. Supposedly there's a chapter 70 already out, but I haven't found the raw of it yet.

It's not a coincidence if one caused the other! So where does Loser stand in this conflict? It sounds like this Orochimaru knock-off was responsible for killing his wife, but how does this result in revenge against New Tesla?

I looked over the raws too. We saw the guy who killed the Yurizaki's family. Seems like he and his gang started some sort of religious organization, but he doesn't seem to be connected with the snake. I take it he's the source of illegal coils.

he's collecting the Numbers so he could brute-force an opening into the pocket dimension at Easter Island to get his wife Sofia back. The problem? It looks like our Orochimaru knockoff -- named Haruka Shimaya/Seameyer? -- essentially already murdered her, as he's using her hands and her heart to make sure that the pocket dimension doesn't collapse into itself, as if the system powering the coil loses contacts with her hands AND thinks that she died, it shuts down.

I notice Kyouma seems to phase out during the trip. Sometimes it's flashbacks of him remembering what happened, but other times seem to be him going back in time and meeting the prince dude.

It's because he IS experiencing flashbacks -- the closer he gets to the core, the more he remembers of the Grendel raid. And he and the prince eventually DO get to speak to each other, but only once all the groups still alive meet at the core.

What's the prince after? The doomsday machine the snake guy tried to finish? From what I can tell, he really had no way of escaping his cage until Loser broke in guns blazing.

I have to be honest. With the whole infinite possibilities Dimension W has to offer, that sounds a little...low.

I disagree. Effective teleportation opens up nearly as many possibilities as unlimited energy (at least in the limited way the legal coils access it).
