That's why you sometimes have to let someone go [no matter how much you love them],
so they can find love on their own. Kaede deserves to find romantic love of her own; since, she knows it won't be Rin she is now free to pursue her own dreams, happiness and life. She is kind, hardworking, compassionate, loving, and is learning to be honest with her feelings. She grew up so much episode 21, and realized she doesn't need others to be valuable, she is valuable just as she is. Now Kaede is free of her past, she will make a great friend, companion and lover. |

Ah, good to be able to post again
After finally watching ep. 21, I found it to be surprisingly more "natural" in its outcome or character decisions than general rant in other threads had made me guess. I like how it turns out, and the kissing scene alone was worth the ordeal of waiting so long.

I think the ep actually ended on a happy note. Yes, maybe the ending isn't how some of us expected... but it sure isn't reason enough to want to kill Rin over with... I actually think that Rin made the right decision when he say that both Kaede and him have to learn to walk with their own feet.
Rin as a character grew up quite a bit over the series I think... especiall in the last few ep. and this point is also reinforced quite nicely in 22 I think... besides.. now that a certain someone is free... all of us fanboys will have a chance now too... won't we... LOL... joking :P

I just loved how the writers pulled a "let's ALL have a revelation and turn 180 degrees".
Pathetic resolution as far as truthful character development is concerned, but who am I to argue :P Oh well, at least now I don't have to kill Rin anymore, he was probably abducted and tortured to death by aliens who then sent another Rin down to Earth to make up for some of the mess, while doing a brainwave instant therapy to Kaede. For the love of God... what huge loads of crap :P Can't say anything about Sia and Nerine, as they didn't get much screentime, although they should have. The natural characters of the episode were Asa and Primula, they acted in their character, their character development throughout the series was believable and justified. All in all, they were well made. They screwed Rin pretty bad through the whole series (esp in ep 19-20) to the point where they had to use a huge wisdom boost. They were developing Kaede decently until ep 21. Kaede in ep 21 WAS acting in character for the most part, but it's rather hard to believe that she could restrain herself so well before Rin and Asa after all that. All in all, well, ok, the writers wanted that ending, but it's development was mediocre to say the least.
