"Off vocal" and "Instrumental" versions.

Is there a difference? They both sound like the normal songs with the lyrics removed.

Either, they're really just without the vocals or they're modified to sound better as Instrumentals. But it's hard to tell sometimes, really. I never listen to them anyway though.

well sometimes they're different because they leave in little vocals for karaoke reasons. i think they should add "karaoke version" instead of instrumental or off vocal so it wont fool people.

check out kyle556 on youtube ^^ , he plays piano for the tune that the composer don't bother to make a piano version themselves :/

Off vocal/Less Vocal/Karaoke versions always have the vocal removed.

Instrumental versions sometimes have an instrument taking place of the vocal line.

There is accually a difference, from the different songs I've heard. Instrumental only has the Instruments (no, duh) while Off Vocal still has the background singers. Although, I haven't been able to find a difference between Off Vocal and Kareoke.
