My impressions so far for the first episode is so-so

New OP song is okay though with some new characters added in for the season. Usagi is still adorable in this. Animation style remained generally the same but I'm pretty used to it by now. I'm glad to see more of Chibiusa though for the season she lives with Usagi in her house. There's some ominous antagonist already showing up to cause trouble...

I hope this season improves..nice to see all the characters back from the previous season though. New ED theme song is fine.

Glad to see the dodgy CG transformation sequences have been replaced by regular (and far superior, in this case) animation. Looks a lot better.

That looked way better than the previous two seasons. And not just the art, the pacing was better too. You can tell the new director is a lot more experienced than the newbie who directed the other seasons.

I hope they keep it up.

Btw, some of the new powers are a bit out there. Wink Chain Sword? Jupiter Coconut Cyclone?

Yup ... gotta agree with the transformation sequence improvements looking much better and also being surprised by the special attacks.

But on the whole I thought the first ep of s3 was better than s1.

I'm new to this adaptation, mainly because I had heard bad things about the previous seasons, but this episode made it look like regular SM stuff, not as funny as the original, but I guess it should be expected.

Not bad visually at all, the transformations looked great, and even the eyecatches looked great. My favorite part is still the ED, though. So good, and so fitting for Uranus and Neptune, if you know... well, of course you know what I mean

Didn't expect the senshi-cave at the end, though

If it means Minako gets a sword, that's fine by me. Also, is it really more outhere than a chain made of stars?

These attacks are from the manga, and were never used in the 90's anime. I actually kinda like the fact that they make a nod to the sword from the first arc instead of putting it on a bus though granted it does get put on one later on.

I like the fact that we see more funny faces and lighthearted moments from the girls. Also, Chibi Usa actually looks like a cute child this time around! But the 2D animation for the transformation sequences actually threw me off. I wasn't bothered by the foreshortening of the limbs in the 3D animation, but it really stood out to me as noodle like in 2D for some reason.

Well. That was a significant improvement over the last episode I saw of this. (Which I think was like... when Beryl's generals died. I decided to give the show another chance when I heard of all the staff changes they were doing. The show actually has some humor and character-moments, the animation isn't as bad,"(HAND-DRAWN TRANSFORMATIONS!!!) and the overall direction seems a lot less... lifeless. If they can keep this up, maybe I will finally have that legitimately good version of Sailor Moon that I felt no prior incarnation of the story has ever quite managed to be.

Ss3 is adapting one of the best arcs of the manga, and I'm so happy they are actually listening to the fans' criticism and improve from the previous season's flaws. The art and direction are a lot better this time around, and I like what I saw. Criticism is that the new art style looks a bit too moe-ish for my liking. In the end I still like the old anime's art the best.

The OP didn't impress me at first, but it kind of grows on me after a few times listening.

The ED is obviously glorious. Hell yeah for dedicating to one of the best canon same-sex couples in the media.

most of my fears have been quashed, they're actually giving my favourite arc in the series the TLC it deserves. It's not perfect but nothing ever is and they're actually adding some slice of life character moments that the first season didn't explore. Is it just me or is Ami's hair a lot more "oomph" than before; sorry I'm not sure exactly how to articulate it. It almost feels like it is bigger or more noticeable than before, although those aren't exactly the words I want to use lol.

& YES, Hand-drawn (nonCG) transformations. I was pleasantly surprised by it.

Hands down better then the first 2 seasons combined. Thank god the art changed. Tho Ogata Megumi will always be Haruka/Uranus I didn't hate her voice. But damn, I'm actually crushing on Mamoru which I've never done before. Very much looking forward to this arc which I agree is one of the best.

So, I totally don't remember if I said that I didn't like the way Michiru's voice sounded in the PV, but after watching this episode, I totally love it. It seems to really fit her. Not so hot on Haruka's voice, which is unfortunate, because she's one of my favorite characters. I mean, it works for the air she's trying to give off, but I still don't quite like it.

As others have said, it's stunning how much better the animation is compared to the first two seasons. The transformations alone are 1000% better. There also wasn't so much cringeworthy animation throughout the episode, though there are still some really exaggerated drawings/movements that I wish they'd avoid. I hate when the perspective makes it seem like someone's arms are 3x-4x the length of their upper body.

This is going to be on the every-2-weeks schedule, too, right?
