UC has gundams with 20-40 bits...

even if the british are the forerunners, it's not like the technology was somehow kept utterly hush hush. Silent zephyrs which has the more advanced version could be the source of the tech leak. It was captured by terrorists after all.

It's not like the advancement is made ins several months, especially Gundam always justified it being 'industrial war', technology advance fast when there's war. True, I.S. are fast, self evolving weapon, but still, even Silent Zephyr can't have more than 8, even if we count the defensive BIT(s).

It's always been mentioned about "Running out of energy" even if it's about thruster or pesky beam weapon (such as BITs), so, nope, they're not.

Maybe I.S. core don't supply enough energy, so the energy is stored in a pool/capacitor before used.

Yes, the I.S. core supply the energy. But again, it's implied that energy supplied by it is not enough so 'reserve' energy is needed, that is, energy stored when I.S. are inactive.

So

Core Output > Consumption (Idle)
Core Output < Consumption (Active)

AB =/= Life support, draining AB only remove the protection for the pilot. It might made the I.S. inoperable though (so far only Golem and VT-system breaks this rule)
