Nothing remains on the ground except the dragon. However! Kumoko is up on the ceiling - she'd never even gone back down. When the dragon had desperately tried to avoid her poison earlier it had left an opening in its mental defences and during that time Kumoko hit it with Heretic Magic LV6 "Phantom Dream" which causes your opponent to see illusions. The dragon thinks that it won so it lets down its flame cloak and Kumoko hits it with a super huge ball of deadly spider poison with bonus paralysis. The dragon is not immobilised and sinks into the lava to escape but Kumoko has no intention of letting it get away - as soon as it surfaces again, Kumoko jumps onto its back (while in a bubble of weak poison) and hits it with another double combo - decay and poison attribute attacks, which causes her to lose one of her forearms (backlash from decay attack). That hurts the dragon but it still has over 1000 HP left while Kumoko has actually been surviving on Patience with 1 HP for some time. But it's time for the ultimate attack - back at the start of the battle, Parallel Will had levelled up to 4 and Kumoko had put the new one to act as a second magic commander and had been preparing a single spell the whole time - the preparation is finally complete for Abyss Magic LV1 "Gate of Hell". Darkness begins to surround the entire dragon...

Kumoko's "Gate of Hell" has a big impact on the landscape - there's a very wide though shallow crater in what was a lake of lava. In the middle is a dark hole and next to it is the collapsed dragon. It's actually still alive but only just barely - it has almost no HP, MP or SP left. Kumoko herself is almost out of HP and only has a bit of MP left. Kumoko drops down to the ground to finish off the dragon. The dragon, suffering major injuries, slowly gets up to face her. Having no usable skills (due to lack of SP/MP) the dragon tries to ram Kumoko, only to run into a spider web that Kumoko had created with flame resistance. It doesn't last too long but it's enough for Kumoko to launch another decay attack with her remaining scythe. This lops off the dragon's head and Kumoko's level rises to 19. Lava starts flowing back into the lake and Kumoko grabs the corpse and tows it so that she can eat it later.

Meanwhile, a mysterious figure in dark armour notes that a dragon has died in the Erlo Great Labyrinth. This person uses "administrator privileges" to investigate who did it and is surprised to see the "Wisdom" skill which shouldn't exist. The only one able to do such a thing is "D" and the person decides that this requires investigation.

While peeling the scales off the dragon corpse, Kumoko first picks up a new Evil Eye skill - one of heaviness. This gives her a triple combo to bring monsters to their knees. Also cue some Dragonball jokes about using heavy gravity to train. However, a rift in space starts to appear - this is the first time Kumoko has ever picked up something with Space Perception skill but she guesses that someone is about to teleport in.

Cue the guy in black armour from last time. Kumoko intuitively feels she can't beat him and also Appraisal doesn't work on him. However, rather than feeling scared she has a feeling of familiarity about him but doesn't know why. But the guy can't speak Japanese so they can't communicate. Just then a smart phone drops to the ground, and rings. The guy in black armour picks it up and begins talking with someone on it. Kumoko thinks the voice is female and it sounds beautiful but just hearing it makes her shiver in fright. The guy tosses the phone Kumoko's way and leaves with a sigh.

The phone then says "Kumo-san" and Kumoko nervously wonders if that was Japanese when the phone responds "yes" and Kumoko realises in shock that her thoughts are being read. The phone responds that this is being done because otherwise they can't have a conversation. Kumoko nervously asks who she's talking to and the person on the phone responds "Nice to meet you. I am D."

^ He does look a bit like image of "The Black Knight" except he doesn't have a weapon and the cloak and horns give a bit of a richer and darker image. Kinda "Demon Lord" like though not really "Demon King" like.

I guess you could say that both he and D are types you shouldn't judge by their looks

Kumoko remembers hearing the name "D" before - it came up when she gained Wisdom and D comments that Wisdom was a reward for Kumoko putting in so much effort. Kumoko asks if D has been observing her all this time and D replies saying she'd prefer to call it "spectating" and that she never gets bored with watching Kumoko who then asks what D's objective is and D replies it's simply for amusement since she's the "worst evil god". Kumoko finds this crazy but all too plausible - all her instincts scream that D is serious and very dangerous. Kumoko wonders if D created this world for amusement and D replies that that's incorrect and she's actually an outsider from this world (implying that D is not on this world), adding that she won't say any more on the matter as it would spoil the fun. D encourages Kumoko to do her best to be entertaining and that she might be able to find what she's after. D finishes with "See you again" and then the phone simply vanishes.

Kumoko eats the bitter tasting dragon meat while also feeling bitter herself. Kumoko speculates that D might have a connection to Earth and this world and might know why Kumoko reincarnated here but wonders if D would ever tell her. Kumoko decides to put this all to the side and reviews her updated and new skills - there's quite a lot. One new skill allows her to notice a passageway and on entering it she finally climbs back up to the upper layer of the Elero Great Labyrinth.

It's been a few days since Kumoko has returned to the upper layer and she's rather happy - compared to the middle and lower floor it's like paradise as there's no strong monsters and they can't escape her by diving into magma either. So she can sleep safe and sound and hunt as much as she wants. She's still LV19 though - one more and she can evolve. There's just two problems - it's a bit of a pain dragging the corpses back to her nest and the monsters have "mysteriously vanished". Gee, what's going on? Oh yeah, it's Kumoko has been hunting them like crazy and scared them all off. Tee-hee. However, help is at hand since Space Magic finally hits LV9 and she can do long distance teleportation, speeding things up. After hunting an Earth Drake easily and taking it back to her nest, she teleports off to go hunting again... and comes face to face with a group of human soldiers (they have the same uniform so don't look like a bunch of adventurers)

Some might remember that Kumoko's game avatar is a bald older guy. The leader of the soldiers might not be bald but it seems he's Kumoko's type as she tries to sexily call out to him. But the guy yells something in panic and the soldiers beat a hasty retreat. Unsurprisingly, this leaves Kumoko depressed on multiple levels and since she didn't recognise the language that the soldier used she wonders if she'll ever manage to communicate.

A few days later, Kumoko is still trying to level up but there's no monsters around anywhere. She has enough food stocked up for evolution but still needs to earn some exp. She then senses something and using her Clairvoyance skill she finds a small party of adventurers fighting a snake (the "boss mob" that gave Kumoko the exp for her first evolution). Two members of the party of five are down and Kumoko thinks that maybe humans are weaker than she had expected as it looks like the party will be wiped out. Kumoko thinks it would be troublesome to intervene but does so anyway and kills the snake with one strike.

Having finally gained her level, Kumoko is about to teleport away with the body but notices a person using Recovery Magic on the fallen two. Although Kumoko only recently gained this herself she finds it embarrassing to watch and steps in to cure and recover the fallen two. As she's about to finally leave she notices something on the ground.

honestly i really don't understand why in the beginner she called herself "average" or was talking as she not was "cute", her in her "human form" looked really pretty hot and cute, i really feel bad about how japaneses have that "low"self vision" at last in anime/manga/novel(to be fair in real life too), many mc normally see themself as "sort of ugly or not attractive" when in most of the times is pretty the opposite and they are attractive ( at last for western standarts) but they total lack of confidence is something really sad.

It's not that she just thought of herself as average, but of having low social standing - that she would have little value as a kidnapping victim for example. I can't remember ever commenting on her looks though.

Anyway, there's a couple of interesting hints here and there but since the MC spends little time thinking about her past self there's not much progress. Actually, only the WN readers have the deep answers to this as the LN version hasn't gotten that far yet (though almost certainly will with the next volume). As such it would be well into spoiler territory to explain things... and so the answers should only be discussed on the WN thread or via PM, so I'm not going to say anything more in this post.

First apperance for many characters in the manga... and actually the LN too - some of these guys have official character designs in the LN already (eg Wrath in LN8-9, Balto, Blow and Argnar in LN9) but many are new. Not that surprisingly, the character designs in the LN are higher quality.

WN/LN readers would recognise this chapter as "B1 - The Demon King's close aide lets out a sigh at the conference".

Spoiler for summary:

The entire chapter follows on from the page at the end of the last chapter. The Demon King (the girl at the end of the last chapter) is having a conference with the top commanders of the army, regarding attacking the human territories. There's a fair bit of dissent though but the Demon King simply laughs it off and they start going through the commanders one by one to check on the progress of their preparations for attack. However, two of the commanders get into an argument and almost come to blows... when somehow the Demon King stops them. There's a hint of some spider like threads and the Demon King sighs and also drops a "nai wa", saying not to fight over something so boring. The Demon King's aide (Balto) comments that he hopes the others now understand - the title of Demon King is not chosen randomly and instead goes the one who best fulfils the requirements.

Well, she doesn't have a death wish and unless she's really unlucky she can simply teleport away if it goes badly. She's fighting Alaba basically for the sake of her pride but she's clearly been putting in a lot of practice and preparation. I love her little speech before the right starts - thank you for being a worthy foe, basically.
