Maybe it's a good time to point out that depending on the target audience of the show it's male protagonist serves different functions. In ecchi (like this) he is just an excuse for ecchi scenes, in shounen he is supposed to be identified with the kids watch, and in shoujo to meet the girls ideal boyfriend delusions... very generally speaking, there is a lot of overlap of course to expand the fanbase and boost sales.

There's plenty of shounen when there's an adult protagonist (Rurouni Kenshin) or female protagonist (Claymore, Medaka Box). In shoujo, there's some titles with male lead or titles that aren't "ideal boyfriend-oriented" like magical girl stuff.

Back to topic, here's my personal experience in episode 8.

A decent episode, even through there's loads of ecchiness. A new enemy appears, which gives me loads of suspense in the next episodes.

I'm relieved they've avoided turning Rias into a damsel in distress. It wouldn't have fitted her personality. Rias isn't going to wait for somebody to save her, she's going to fight alongside her friends for her freedom. Let the rating game begins!

Raiser is doing a great job being a despicable villain. He even went as far as teasing Issei with his harem in front of Rias! The scum! He can't get his ass handed to him soon enough.

Yay for Koneko-chan service! She seems to be the only girl in the series who is unwilling to let Issei see her naked (though we don't know about Akeno).

I was expecting more echi and less cliché story. sure, he will win to that fenix guy but who cares ? all we want is jokes and his dream of making a harem come true

Rias looks great in a wedding dress. Koneko service has arrived. Like how Issei's mom walked him on him and Asia. Rias was a little serious there with Issei. Wow Raizer is a total jerk. Can't believe he taunted Issei about already being a harem king. So a rating game is in the works. Wow Issei got taken out so easily.

He's also using Asia's naivete and good heart to play her.
The bathroom scene was soooooo ROFL, especially the part where he got all moral.

This episode was overflowing with fan service!!
Rias has a fiance... not surprising at all. Neither is that he's a total player.
She's totally in over her head when it comes to her agreement to settle things with the game.

Actually, absolutely the opposite - it is Asia who is head over heels in love with him and wants to get all touchy-feely, to see every nook and cranny of his body. What else do you expect from a demoness? It's not like she can get any illness from sex, and they do need more manpower, so pregnancy is not a problem.

As for him - he convinced himself that she should be treated as a sibling.

The real weird one in this group is Koneko.

I frikkin loved today's new episode but raiser can burn in hell for a million times (sad thing is his entire devil clan is based off the phoenix so he plus everyone else in that clan will be reborn but the gremory clan people won't).

The part where Issie was going to bath really caught my attention. The first one to scream or more so a guy screaming because a girl saw him naked? This thing never gets old for me

That phoenix guy sure is doing its job as a villain. I really hate when he was touching Rias. I really want to punch myself I wonder if all 15 girls are not virgin anymore

I'm just gonna say it. I can't wait to see Issei beat Raiser's ass. I mean doing that in front of Bouchou really pisses me off. Someone like Raiser should get kicked by a horse and die at LEAST. This is one of the moments when I wish anime was real life. I wish all of us would be slaves to the Gremory Clan so that we can show the Pheonix Clan slaves something to eat after they lose to us.

as expected, ep8 wasn't as good as the previous 2 ones (6-7). it had its good moments, but that's pretty much it.

I appreciate the "effort" put into trying to break away from the usual cliche - during the bathroom scene - but that's *not* how you do it... (e.g. IS/Yumekui Merry did it better)

Quite the contradiction a moral perv.. LOL! He is so innocent when he is mounted he says I can't do this.. when he is asked to bath with a girl he outright refuses her. He wants to be a harem king but can't even stand to do any acts of a harem king LOL! I find him quite the funny and refreshing main character.
